The anger and frustration on the part of crime concerned Chicago residents in their refusal to re-elect their mayor, Lori Lightfoot, should be a warning sign to Hizzoner,  Eric Adams. And the Whacky Windy City’s repudiation of their Progressive leader is no random occurrence. Last year the political information site, Ballotpedia, registered public recall efforts affecting 434 elected officials. Even the Mayor of New Orleans, LaToya Cantrell, is now sweating it out. The neglected, victimized lowly citizens are finally brandishing their ballots to rid their governments of officials who willingly close their eyes and ignore the ever growing poor quality of life in their communities. Mayor Adams may be next.

And we truly like the Mayor. We supported his candidacy because he’s a decent guy who ran on the promise to reduce crime and to erase the memory of his predecessor. But, he’s slipping and the Republican-led wolves are at the door. In a recent radio interview, Adams said: “We have a recidivism problem in New York and far too many people, there’s about 2,000 people who are repeatedly catch, release, repeat in crimes. If we don’t take them off our streets, they’re going to continue to prey on innocent people.” We agree. All of us have seen the videos of young thugs rampaging through stores, emptying out the shelves into plastic bags and in addition beating, shooting shopkeepers and merely running out into the streets they dominate.

Why doesn’t the Mayor demand that Governor Hochul remove the criminal-friendly Manhattan DA Bragg and replace him with a firebrand who will clean our streets of these vermin who destroy our way of life? What has he to fear in going after another Democrat? The citizens, at this point, don’t give a damn about party politics; they want to be protected from the violent prone who seem to own our streets.  DO SOMETHING, ERIC!!!

And the Mayor will also be held responsible for other areas of concern. Let’s take the schools. They are at the lowest level of performance ever. The days are long gone when

NYC public schools were the envy of the world. A recent NY Post editorial revealed that nearly all of city public high school graduates need remedial classes when they enroll at CUNY community colleges. We blame the Department of Education and the union dominated teachers who are not fulfilling their responsibilities. Also at fault are the common practices of lowered standards, grade inflation, grade fixing, fraudulent credit bearing make-up classes and outright cheating on exit exams. Adams has got to get into the schools, walk the halls and do some shaking up. Mediocrity in the classrooms will scramble the eggs of his tenure.

We’ve gone out into the streets and have spoken with members of the NYPD to ask them of their respect and opinion of the Mayor who once wore the proud uniform and badge of New York’s Finest, himself. The consensus was that he does not support them when the “chips are down.” He does not take to the streets with them or get in the back seat of a patrol car during the late hours of the night. He does not meet with the families of fallen cops during their periods of grief. In short, he is not cop friendly. And this affects the confidence, loyalty and performance of each officer. There is always the fear of repudiation by higher authorities and even the threats of being charged and arrested for merely carrying out the duties assigned. He must win the trust of the cops.

The above are only a few areas that Mayor Adams must focus on and remediate in order to win over the respect, allegiance and the votes of his citizens. There is a new movement sweeping over the nation. And that is to make elected officials responsible for maintaining and even improving our way of life; to make us more safe, comfortable and secure in our homes, stores and streets. Our nation seems to be cascading into chaos. Riots, threats of war, fear of losing our democracy and freedoms have shaken us all up. We need help. And let’s start in NYC with Mayor Adams leading the way to remake the City and make us all proud. Good luck!
