(A7) The IDF on Friday night responded to four rockets which were fired by terrorists in Gaza towards Israel.

Following sirens which sounded in the city of Ashkelon and in the area surrounding Gaza, two launches were identified: One of the rockets was intercepted by the IDF Aerial Defense Array. The second rocket fell in an open area.

Later, two more rockets were fired, and sirens sounded in the town of Ahuzam. Both of those two projectiles fell in open areas, and in accordance with standard policy and the lack of need, no interception was carried out, the IDF said.

In response to the attacks from Gaza on Israeli territory, the IDF targeted Hamas weapons manufacturing sites in Gaza.

“A short while ago, IDF fighter jets struck a military site in the central Gaza Strip belonging to the Hamas terrorist organization,” an IDF source said Friday night. “The military site consists of an underground complex containing raw materials used for the manufacturing of rockets.”

“The site that was targeted is one of the most significant production sites in the Gaza Strip for rockets used by terror organizations.

“The strike on this site will significantly impede and undermine Hamas’ force-building capabilities.”

The IDF emphasized, “The Hamas terrorist organization is accountable for all events transpiring in and emanating from the Gaza Strip.”

MK Itamar Ben Gvir commented on the incident:

“Instead of eliminating the terrorist cells and senior Hamas figures, the IDF’s response is nothing more than Lapid’s PR to show that Israel responded to the shooting. For every missile from Gaza to Israel, the response should be 50 missiles and bodies of terrorists. ”

Religious Zionism leader MK Bezalel Smotrich commented on the incident as well:

”This was both sad and sadly predictable Hamas hears a message of weak leadership every time debate over a Palestinian state arises, and responds with rocket fire.”
