From the shootings in Buffalo to Laguna Beach to Uvalde. Staten Island Clergy, Civic and Community Leaders Rally for Peace have rallied for peace, understanding and for the condemnation of these harrowing events.

Some of these hateful events targeted individuals who were targeted solely because of who they are and for their color of their skin. What is troubling how in the eyes of these sick individuals’ human life has no value and is cheap.

Mendy Mirocznik, president of the Staten Island Council of Jewish Organizations commented, “As Jews we have a long proud history as a people. We also have suffered hate, pogroms the Holocaust and terror in Israel. We as a people are no strangers to bigotry and antisemitism and we feel the pain of the families of all the victims.

As Americans, we must do everything in our power to rid our society of hateful ideologies and to teach future generations the concept of love, tolerance and compassion for all. We must take proactive steps to educate that hate, racism, antisemitism and bigotry is wrong and have no home in America.

We must hold all those accountable for engaging in crimes fueled by hate. We must send a resounding message that there is severe consequence for engaging in hate crimes. Our prayers are with these families and all families who have lost their loved ones to senseless acts of hatred.

We fervently pray, that all those who possess hatred in their hearts learn the evil error and transform that negative energy into a positive force to help make this world a better place for all people.”
