As the war in Ukraine rages on and the number of refugees from the war town country continue to flee, it has been reported by Fox News that Ivanka Trump, daughter of former President Donald Trump, has donated 1 million meals to refugees in Ukraine on the Poland-Ukraine border.

A source familiar with the matter told Fox News that Ms. Trump personally contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars for the 1 million meals, which amounted to 158,400 pounds of food to Europe.

The Washington Examiner reported that Ms. Trump worked in coordination with the UPS Foundation and Trump’s partnering organizations, including City Serve, City of Destiny, the Pentecostal European Fellowship, and numerous local religious organizations, to ensure that the food delivery would be a success.

Fox News reported that these organizations with also included Mercy Chefs helped to package shelf-stable meals of oatmeal and goulash. The report indicated that the choice of meals came from advised food preferences of aid workers in Ukraine.

Speaking to Fox News, Ivanka Trump said, “The Ukrainian people have shown inspiring courage and resilience during the invasion of their country by Russia. As is often the case, pain and hardship are disproportionately borne by the most vulnerable.”

“With this food, I hope to provide a small source of comfort and nourishment for Ukrainians who are suffering so greatly,” she added.

The meals will reportedly be delivered by local organizations to refugees inside Poland as well as those still in Ukraine, according to the report in the Washington Examiner.

A source close to Trump told Fox News that she has a “very personal connection” to the conflict in Ukraine, with her mother Ivana Trump growing up in Soviet-occupied Czechoslovakia.

Trump’s 96-year-old grandmother Marie Zenicova, who lives with her in Florida, still teaches her children to “treasure our freedoms,” the source said.

The Washington Examiner reported that Pastor Paula White-Cain, senior Pastor of the City of Destiny Church in Orlando, Florida, and president of Paula White Ministries told Fox News that she was brainstorming about how to connect food scarcity in the United States to that in war-torn Ukraine when “I got a call from Ivanka Trump. She and I worked closely in the White House to put together a national hunger relief program called Farmers to Families. When I told Ivanka what we were doing, she went into action as only Ivanka can.”

Trump has done work to help aid food-scarce areas in the U.S., too.

In January, Ms. Trump tweeted: “Thanks to our incredible partners + volunteers who helped feed families across Idaho & NY fresh, locally-sourced produce & dairy this holiday season. 1.1 M pounds of dairy + produce delivered, 1.3 M meals served, 52,000+ food boxes distributed, 100% privately funded.”

Speaking to Fox News, Pastor Paula White-Cain added: “Quite honestly, if it weren’t for her (Ivanka’s) immediate involvement, a plane would not already be on its way to Poland right now to deliver 1 million meals for Ukrainian refugees fleeing the devastation of their nation.”

The Washington Examiner reported that celebrity couple Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher launched a “Stand with Ukraine” fundraiser in early March and have since raised over $35 million in cooperation with Flexport and Airbnb.

“We’re raising funds to support a relief effort that will have immediate impact and supply much-needed refugee and humanitarian aid to the area,” Kutcher said, according to the Washington Examiner report.

“We are overwhelmed with gratitude for this support,” Kunis, who is originally from Ukraine, said upon reaching their goal of $30 million. “While this is far from a solve of the problem, our collective effort will provide a softer landing for so many people as they forge ahead into their future of uncertainty.”

Fox News reported that since Putin invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24, more than 3 million Ukrainians have fled the country. The United Nations estimated that Poland has taken in more than 1.2 million Ukrainian refugees, with hundreds of thousands more fleeing to neighboring countries including Hungary, Slovakia, Romania and more.
