Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau Doubles Investment in 2024 Community Projects

Second round of $300K available in grant funding, applications now open

Edited by: TJVNews.com

Applications have reopened for the second time this year to fund another round of projects through the PMVB Community Impact Grant, an annual program established by the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau to give back to communities across the four-county region.

The PMVB Board of Directors has authorized an additional $300,000 to support even more projects for 2024. Once those funds are disbursed, the PMVB Community Impact Grant will have distributed more than $1 million to deserving community projects since its inception in 2022.

To date, the PMVB Community Impact Grant has awarded $958,166 among 104 projects. A variety of initiatives have been supported in the last three years, from upgrading basketball courts and baseball fields to restoring historical icons and beautifying small towns.

“When traveling throughout the region, it’s hard to find an area untouched by the PMVB Community Impact Grant. We are thrilled to offer a second round of funding this year to support even more projects that will benefit all who live, work, play, and learn in the Poconos. This is one of the many ways that tourism continues to give back locally,” said Chris Barrett, President/CEO, Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau.

Local governments including, but not limited to, boroughs and townships as well as municipal and redevelopment authorities are eligible to apply for funding to support projects that aim to enhance the quality of life in Wayne, Pike, Monroe and Carbon counties.

Proposals are due by Monday, May 6, 2024, for projects which must be complete by December 15, 2024. At least a 50% match is required, and the grant cap request is $20,000. Program funding is allocated from the Hotel Occupancy Tax. Projects approved in the first round are not eligible to re-apply.
