(TJV) Masked gunmen stormed into a concert hall in Moscow,  at least 100 deaths, according to RT News. The attackers, clad in camouflaged clothing, opened fire and set off explosives, causing a massive fire at the Crocus City Hall on the western outskirts of Moscow. Videos circulating on social media captured the horrifying scene, with plumes of black smoke billowing from the venue and reports suggesting up to 100 people may be trapped inside.

Reports have emerged one suspect has been arrested. 

Russian officals claim the terroriss were Ukranian operatives, the US Embassy in Moscow has denied this, according t multiple sources.

Russia’s human rights commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova labelled the incident, which security services believe took 40 lives, a “terrorist attack”.

According to news outlet 112, the death toll could be as high as 40, with around 100 others wounded, although these numbers are subject to change. Riot police and special services swiftly responded to the incident, while firefighters initially delayed tackling the blaze until the area was secured.

Witnesses described chaotic scenes of people lying on the floor to evade gunfire and attempting to crawl to safety. Some were evacuated from the roof of the burning building. Ambulance crews rushed to the scene to provide medical assistance to the injured.

Both the Moscow Mayor and the governor of the Moscow region expressed condolences to the victims’ families and pledged assistance. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but it occurred during a concert by the Soviet-era rock band Picnic.

This tragic event comes despite warnings issued by the US and UK embassies two weeks prior, indicating a potential attack on crowded venues by extremists.  On March 7, the U.S. Embassy in Russia issued a warning about possible terrorist attacks in Moscow over the following 48 hours.The US embassy had specifically cautioned against attending large gatherings, including concerts, in Moscow. Social media experienced interruptions following the attack, adding to the turmoil of the situation.
