This Dentist is Worse Than a Butcher!  Minnesota Woman Files Lawsuit Alleging Disfigurement & Malpractice

Edited by: TJVNews.com

In a shocking turn of events, a Minnesota woman, Kathleen Wilson, has filed a civil lawsuit against her dentist, Dr. Kevin Molldrem, accusing him of malpractice that resulted in her disfigurement and distress. As was reported in the New York Post, the lawsuit, filed in Hennepin County District Court, alleges that Dr. Molldrem performed an excessive number of dental procedures in a single visit, leaving Wilson in pain and requiring subsequent corrective measures.

According to the lawsuit filed on Thursday, Wilson contends that in July 2020, Dr. Molldrem conducted eight dental crowns, four root canals, and 20 fillings during a marathon five-and-a-half-hour session, according to the report in the Post. The affidavit obtained by the Star Tribune states that as a consequence of this extensive treatment, Wilson was left in significant pain, embarrassed, and disfigured. The report also said that subsequently, she had to seek the assistance of other dentists to rectify the alleged complications arising from Dr. Molldrem’s procedures.

One of the key accusations in the lawsuit is that Dr. Molldrem overused anesthesia and falsified medical records to evade responsibility, according to the information provided in the Post report.  Wilson claims that the dentist administered nearly double the recommended dosage of anesthesia during the procedure. The Post also reported that the maximum recommended dosage for a long appointment is 490 milligrams, but Molldrem allegedly nearly doubled that while seeing Wilson in July 2020 — providing her with 960 milligrams.

The Post report added that the lawsuit is seeking a minimum of $50,000 in damages for the distress and disfigurement caused by the alleged malpractice.

Dr. Avrum Goldstein, an expert Florida dentist, has supported Wilson’s claims. As was indicated in the Post report, in a report dated November 14, Dr. Goldstein acknowledged that Dr. Molldrem’s diagnosis of extensive decay in Wilson’s teeth was accurate. However, he criticized the treatment provided in the subsequent week, stating that attempting to address every dental issue in one visit was not only contrary to what was indicated but also practically impossible in an effective manner, the Post report said.

“Katie required a slow, thoughtful, careful and measured response to her disease,” Goldstein wrote in the November 14th report, the Post reported. “Trying to fill every hole in every tooth in her mouth in one visit is not only the antithesis of what was indicated, it is not humanely possible to achieve in an effective or constructive manner.”

Dr. Goldstein further asserted that Dr. Molldrem’s excessive use of anesthesia, nearly doubling the recommended dosage, was inappropriate for a single appointment. As per the report in the Post, the report emphasized that Wilson eventually sought proper treatment from the University of Minnesota Dental School in 2022 to repair and replace many of the restorations done by Dr. Molldrem.

According to the report in the Post, the lawsuit highlights the potential long-term consequences of Dr. Molldrem’s alleged malpractice, suggesting that if all of Wilson’s teeth eventually need removal or replacement with implants, the efforts and expenses associated with the initial procedures may be in vain.

As of now, there has been no comment made to the Post from Dr. Kevin Molldrem on the allegations made in the lawsuit. The case is expected to unfold in Hennepin County District Court, shedding light on the details of the alleged malpractice and its impact on Kathleen Wilson’s dental health.
