A campaign calling on Muslim-Americans to oppose President Biden’s re-election bid, has disreputable members including a man accused of abusing his wife, a man with links to the Hamas terror organization and more.  As reported by the NY Post, leaders of the “Abandon Biden” movement meeting on Saturday, and assembling on a Hampton Inn stage in Dearborn, Mich., pushing Muslim’s not to vote for Biden in 2024, unless he calls for an immediate cease fire in Israel.  The group’s mission is to slam the 81-year-old US President for not forcing Israel to agree to a ceasefire, after it was brutally attacked by Hamas on Oct. 7, with 1,200 Israelis killed, including 33 Americans, and over 240 hostages taken including women, children and elderly.

Per the Post, the members of the group include Hassan Shibly, who was accused by his ex-wife Imane Sadrati of “violent” physical abuse, as per her GoFundMe post.  The allegations forced Shibly to resign as chairman of the Council on American-Islamic Relations’ Florida chapter. His alleged misconduct was investigated in 2021 by nonprofit media organization, National Public Radio (NPR).  Shilby was also accused by another women, Kyla McRoberts, who alleged “he stole my self-worth”.  She told NPR that he cut off her ponytail while she was sleeping in order to punish her for posting a photo of herself not wearing a hijab.

Another speaker at the “Abandon Biden” get-together, was Tom Facchine, who last month had publicly defended lashings as a viable punishment under Islamic law, or sharia.  He said lashings are a more humane punishment than prison.  “If I get 70 lashes for something, I walk home to my children and to my wife and I’m done,” Facchine said.  “What happens here if I’m a felon? I’m locked away for years. My children are punished for it. My wife is punished for it, my family is punished for it,” he continued.  “Which system is barbaric again? … Sharia is much more merciful, it is much more flexible, and it is a much more humane system of law than anything the world has ever seen.”

Yet another speaker was Khalid Turaani, who in 2020 was sanctioned by Israel for serving as a board member of the group IPALESTINE, per the Post.  The Israeli government says the group “belongs to Hamas.” Turaani was sanctioned, with Israel blocking financial transfers to him.

Per the Post, the list of disrepute continues with another member of the group, Hazim Nasaredden.  On the day after the Oct 7 savage and deadly attack on Israel, he wrote on Facebook: “[Operation] Al-Aqsa [S]torm is the inevitable consequence of continued Israeli oppression of the free men and women of Gaza, the illegal demolition of peoples homes in Jerusalem, and the relentless attacks on the sanctity of Masjid Al-Aqsa,” using the Hamad code for the assult.  “I stand with my fellow brothers and sisters who continue to fight for the freedom of all Palestinians and more importantly the freeing of Masjid Al-Aqsa for every Muslim around the world,” Nasaredden added.

The Post reported that while there might very well be a growing resentment against President Biden among Muslim Americans, as indicated in recent polls, still the group assembled on the stage as the “Abandon Biden” hardly represents credible political voices.
