Northwell Lenox Hill Hospital received multiple awards from Healthgrades for clinical excellence across multiple specialties including cardiology, gastroenterology, prostate surgery, and orthopedics. The hospital received the 2024 accolades for excellence in care, prominent positions on Healthgrades’ lists of the best in the nation and earning coveted five-stars for patient outcomes after medical procedures. These recognitions reflect Lenox Hill’s outstanding performance and distinguishes it as one of the country’s leading hospitals.

Healthgrades, the leading resource connecting patients and providers, based its ratings on clinical outcomes and a rigorous analysis of patient mortality and complication rates for common conditions and procedures at approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide. To earn five-star ratings for a procedure, a facility’s clinical outcomes must be statistically better than Healthgrades’ projected outcomes.

“These annual and first-time recognitions by Healthgrades underscore Lenox Hill’s continual commitment to clinical excellence as well as its ongoing growth to meet emerging healthcare challenges,” said Daniel Baker, MD, executive director of Lenox Hill Hospital. “These awards show that Lenox Hill excels in many specialties making it a top tier destination for New Yorkers seeking a wide breadth of treatments.”

Lenox Hill’s cardiology department received nearly a dozen distinctions and is the only hospital in New York State to receive the America 100 Best Hospitals for Cardiac Care Award™ for 11 years in a row (2014-2024). The hospital is also one of Healthgrades America’s 50 Best Hospitals for Cardiac Surgery™. It has received the Healthgrades 2024 Cardiac Surgery Excellence Award™ and is among the top five percent nationally for Overall Cardiac Services and Cardiac Surgery.

For coronary interventional procedures, Lenox Hill placed within the top ten percent and has been a five-start recipient every year since 2003. For 13 years in a row (2012-2024), Lenox Hill has been among America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Coronary Intervention, a feat, which analysis shows, translates to better patient outcomes. From 2020-2022, patients treated at hospitals included on this list have, on average, a 48.8 percent lower risk of dying than if treated in hospitals that did not receive the award.*

Other specialties honored include gastroenterological and prostate surgeries. Surgeons within the gastroenterology department earned two distinctions including a five-star rating for upper gastrointestinal surgeries. This also marks the second year they received Healthgrades’ Gastrointestinal Surgery Excellence Award™ and placed within the top 10 percent in the nation for gastrointestinal surgeries. Lenox Hill’s prostate surgeons also earned placement among America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Prostate Surgeries™ for the 9th consecutive year.
