Jew Haters & Terrorists As “Activists”

Dear Editor:

An “activist” is defined as “a person who campaigns to bring about political or social change.” Virulent Jew hate, claiming to be agents of social change:“Open Anti-Semitism at UNC and Duke Conference.”

https://www.aish.com/jw/s/Open-Anti-Semitism-at-UNC-and-Duke-Conference.html

A “terrorist” is defined as “a person who uses unlawful violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims.”

2014:  “two Palestinians armed with cleavers and a gun stormed a synagogue in an Orthodox Jewish neighborhood of West Jerusalem and killed four rabbis…”  Read the list of butchered, stabbed, children and unarmed Jews, killed by terrorists, whom  mainstream media now label “activists” vs. “terrorists.” Yes, these same “Palestinian” Arab terrorists who refused peace over and over and over.

University Presidents no longer possess a moral compass. “Freedom of speech” means others have the right to spew hate speech. But it also means we don’t have to invite them to speak at our universities. Will Neo Nazis now be invited to speak? And if not, why not, when we are allowing Jew hate speech, hiding as merely anti-Israel, anti-Zionist speech, to not only flourish, but to be taught on campus?

Columbia Univ. Pres. Bollinger, defended inviting former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad to speak as “freedom of speech.”  Mohamad said he “is glad to be called an anti-Semite”,  “Jews have hooked noses. It was not 6 million.”

Penn Jewish center vandalized ahead of University conference featuring antisemites

“The speakers at Friday’s event include anti-Israel Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters, former Palestinian political prisoner Wisam Rafeedie who writes favorably about terror attacks on Israel, and Salman Abu Sitta, who sits on the advisory board of an Israeli-designated terror group. Others have endorsed violence against Israel, and malign the Jewish state’s supporters as “scum” and “filth.” Marc Lamont Hill will conduct a panel during the event, was fired from a gig at CNN for advocating Israel’s destruction, has praised Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan as “my brother,” and refused to distance himself from the prolific antisemite.”

Congestion Pricing is a ‘Pain’ for All New Yorkers

Dear Editor,

I am writing in response to “Is Congestion Pricing All Pain, No Gain for NYC Motorists?” Not only is it all pain, no gain for motorists, it’s all pain for 99.9% of New Yorkers, car owner or not.  I live on 71st & 2nd, operate a single-person LLC, and my family has a long history of civic engagement in NYC. I also live with multiple sclerosis.

Despite not owning a car, I am deeply concerned about the adverse effects of congestion pricing on my mobility and ability to engage fully in society. Unlike most, I cannot simply rely on public transportation (or cycling) on a daily basis. Each day presents a unique challenge, requiring meticulous energy management.

My mode of transportation primarily consists of taxis and other for-hire vehicles, which already come with congestion fees for the MTA before the meter even starts running. I, and many like me, can’t afford more fees on top of the ones that already exist. In all of these articles and op-ed pieces, I never see that 33 years after the Americans with Disabilities Act passed, the subway is less than 25 percent accessible. And on any given day with elevators and escalators out-of-service, even less.

Living in a neighborhood abundant with hospitals and physician offices, I am uniquely aware of the millions of people who flock to the East Side of Manhattan annually for their healthcare needs. Many of these individuals lack access to public transit in their own communities and must drive or take other types of vehicles.

Most people seem to forget (or don’t care) that you can go to bed fine one day and wake up the next not. Acute illnesses don’t often make an announcement before they show up.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely

Israeli Elite Show Their Dark Side

Dear Editor:

The mask slipped off the Tel Aviv protesters during Yom Kippur.

These “progressives” who visualize themselves as the beautiful Israeli liberal elite showed their dark side as people gathered at an outside prayer event in the closing hours of Yom Kippur.

People of all levels of Judaism gathered, as they have done in the past, to come together to feel the spirit of Yom Kippur, Judaism’s holiest day, in Israel’s cosmopolitan city.

Instead, this year, they were interrupted, insulted, and prevented from feeling the spirit of this most Jewish Day of Atonement in Dizengoff Square, especially during the closing prayers in which the shofar is sounded.

Instead of a coming together in Judaism for one day, there was political division and disruption by the people who actively support and participate in gay parades and pro-Palestinian demonstrations, but feel nothing but hate and loathing against Jews, of all denominations, coming together in the collective spirit of Judaism’s most holy day.

The Tel Aviv protesters, the secular Left, show Ahavat Israel to Muslims and lesbians, but not to fellow Jews.

Shame on them. They lost thousands of supporters by their malicious behavior on our most holy day.

It seems that conservative me is more progressive and liberal than these intolerant protesters.

I have no problem with gays and lebians celebrating their differences, as long as their public displays do not descend into public lewdness.

I have gay friends and political colleagues, just as I have many Arab, Druze, Muslim, Christian friends and supporters in Israel and around the world, and we respect our differences.

But I will speak out against the losing Left in Israel whose whole campaign is drenched in lies, hypocrisy, and a growing malevolence against fellow Jews.

No Reason to Celebrate National Debt

Dear Editor:

There is no cause for celebration by President Biden and Congress now that our national debt exceeds $33 trillion.  This averages $98,616 per citizen or $255,253 per taxpayer. (Source: September 22, 2023 National Debt Clock).

There are thousands of employees who are familiar with the details of our federal budget. How difficult can it be to find billions in savings? This could assist in reducing our periodic raising of the debt ceiling.

Millions of Americans cut their household budgets to make ends meet.  It is time for Washington to live within its available existing revenues without excessive borrowing, just like millions of ordinary citizens.  We should return to pre COVID-19 spending levels of $1.47 trillion annually.

The President and Congress have forgotten the old saying – a penny saved is a penny earned.  Americans should send both a penny to remind them that it is not a sin to save. Unless we change our ways, America is on the road to losing our status as the world’s No. 1 superpower to China.  Just like mighty ancient Rome before the collapse, we are going down the path to become the world’s super debtor.

Sincerely,
Larry Penner
