The Biden regime is poised to drastically revise the USDA’s recommendations on alcohol, advising Americans to consume just two drinks per week. The standard guidance since the 1990s has been for women to limit themselves to one drink per day and men to two drinks per day.

Joe Biden’s alcohol czar, Dr. George Koob, announced this week that the USDA could revise its alcohol recommendations to match Canada’s two drinks per week guideline, which was revised in January.

“If there’s health benefits, I think people will start to re-evaluate where we’re at [in the US],” Koob told the Daily Mail regarding Canada’s new alcohol guidance.

“So, if [alcohol consumption guidelines] go in any direction, it would be toward Canada.”
Liver cirrhosis — scarring caused by continuous, long-term liver damage — strokes and cancer are already well-established risks of excess boozing.
But the Oxford University-led study, which analyzed data from half a million men living in China, also drew links to other conditions like gout and cataracts.

Koob, who is the director of the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, advocates having a healthy diet and avoiding excess alcohol.

“Most of the benefits people attribute to alcohol, we feel they really have more to do with what someone’s eating rather than what they’re drinking,” he explained.

“So it really has to do with the Mediterranean diet, socio-economic status, that makes you able to afford that kind of diet and make your own fresh food and so forth.”
