If there were ever a recurring nightmare that keeps on haunting, it is that of pedophile, Jeffrey Epstein.

Haven taken his own life weeks after his arrest in 2019 on charges of sex traifficking, Epstein’s name keeps dominating headlines. He has been a lightning rod for intrigue, controversy and conspiracy theories, the New York Post reported.

It has now been reported by the  Post that a trove of previously unreported documents obtained by the Wall Street Journal reveal that Epstein’s possible connections include three meetings with William Burns, the director of the Central Intelligence Agency, when he was the deputy secretary of state in 2014, as well as longtime Bard College president Leon Botstein, and Kathryn Ruemmler – who served as White House counsel under President Barack Obama.

No doubt that Epstein’s cachet and influence opened doors for him to prominent individuals throughout his infamous career.  The Post noted that the people listed as having met with the notorious pedophile are not accused of any improprieties and those listed in the documents maintain that the connections they created with Epstein were purely social or professional.

The Post also reported that Epstein kept a “black book” of contacts and the WSJ reported that none of the names that were found in the trove of documents appeared in this book. Moreover, the Post also reported that  the names of individuals listed were not found on the flight logs of Epstein’s private plane known as the “Lolita Express.”

The WSJ has said that the purpose of each meeting that Epstein scheduled with the listed individuals was bit clear not does the paper have knowledge is every appointment made was actually kept.

Epstein, a registered sex offender, brokered the meetings after he served time in prison in 2008 for a sex crime involving a teenage girl, the WSJ report said.

The documents reveal that Noam Chomsky, linguistics professor and political activist, met with Epstein in 2015 to discuss Israel’s policies toward Palestine, however, the meeting was after Jeffrey Epstein had been accused in 2006 of sexually abusing girls, according to a Wikipedia report. The Post reported that Chomsky was scheduled to fly with Epstein and have dinner at his Manhattan home in 2015. The documents also indicated that Epstein had a number of scheduled gatherings, including the planned dinner with Chomsky, his wife, and film director Woody Allen and Allen’s wife, Soon-Yi Previn.

The WSJ asked Chomsky about his relationship with Epstein, to which he replied: “First response is that it is none of your business. Or anyone’s. Second is that I knew him and we met occasionally.”

The WSJ also reported that Leon Botstein, the longtime president of Bard College, met Epstein several times and even invited him to the campus overlooking the Hudson River.

Kathryn Ruemmler – who served as White House counsel under President Barack Obama – met with Epstein dozens of times in the years between her White House career and her next job as an attorney at Goldman Sachs, the WSJ report said, according to the Post report. In addition, the WSJ said that Epstein had planned to go on two trips with Ruemmler. In 2015, Epstein arranged a trip to Paris and in 2017, he planned a trip to his private island in the Caribbean, according to the WSJ.

The report indicated that what motivated the people listed in the trove of documents  to meet with Epstein was due to his monetary wealth and his social and professional connections. The people listed were found in thousands of pages of emails and schedules from 2013 to 2017, the WSJ said.

Some of those who had meetings scheduled with Epstein have claimed that they were under the impression that the pedophile had been rehabilitated. Others have said that they had a clear agenda in their meetings with Epstein and wanted to achieve their objectives. The WSJ reported that Botstein said he was trying to get Epstein to donate to his school, while Chomsky said he wanted to discuss political and academic subjects with the well-connected financier, the Post reported.

A repeat offender, Epstein had been accused of sexually abusing girls in Florida, some as young as 14 years old, the Post reported. He cut a deal with prosecutors in 2008 and pleaded guilty to state charges of soliciting and procuring a minor for prostitution. The Post also reported that under a secret agreement, the US Attorney’s office in Miami agreed not to pursue federal prosecution.

Epstein served about 13 months in a cushy work-release program that allowed him to leave jail and go to his office during the day. The WSJ indicated that the case decimated Epstein’s reputation. As such,  those politicians that he donated money to sent it back to him and banks that he did business with as well as clients severed ties with him, the report said.

After dozens of women came forth with accusations that Epstein had abused them, a  detailed report about the claims appeared in the Miami Herald. In 2019, federal authorities charged him with  sex trafficking conspiracy. Before his trial date was set, Epstein committed suicide in a lower Manhattan prison.

In December 2021, a jury found convicted Epstein confidante Ghislaine Maxwell guilty of several crimes, including sex trafficking of minors and for helping Epstein groom girls and women to abuse. The Post reported that the British socialite and daughter of the late newspaper publisher Robert Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison, but is currently appealing the case.

Epstein’s sudden death also led to a variety of conspiracy theories that claim the pedophile was murdered in jail because of who he had dirt on.

Speaking to the WSJ was CIA spokeswoman Tammy Kupperman Thorp who said that Burns, the 67-year-old CIA chief, met with Epstein about 10 years ago when he was looking to leave the government.

“The director did not know anything about him, other than that he was introduced as an expert in the financial services sector and offered general advice on transition to the private sector,” she told the WSJ. “They had no relationship.”

But Burns, a career diplomat, had several scheduled meetings with Epstein in 2014.
