Disney Axes Popular “Song of the South” Tune in Latest Move to Promote “Woke” Agenda

Edited by: TJVNews.com

In the world in which we live, “wokeness” has infected just about all aspects of our lives and the leader in promoting this nefarious agenda of “progressive” thought is none other than the iconic children’s entertainment mecca, known as Disney.

According to a report in the New York Post, Disney World has removed the catchy tune of the song “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah” from the 1946 Disney film “Song of the South” from its twice-daily Magic Happens parade performances, due to the “woke” takeover of Disney and its radical policy changes.

The Post also reported that  “Song of the South,” which is set on a Georgia plantation, has received critiques over the years for having racial undertones and offering a romanticized view of the South during Reconstruction.

This means that visitors to the amusement park in Orlando, Florida will no longer hear the song from a popular film that so many have enjoyed. The Post reported that the Disney World parade’s playlist will now feature a song from the “Peter Pan” film.

The song with the lyrics “Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay. My, oh, my, what a wonderful day”  is apparently not being removed because it has been deemed as racist but Disney didn’t immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment on Tuesday about its push to remove the tune.

The decision to remove the tune was first reported by the LA Times, according to the Post.  The decision apparently follows Disney World’s move to retire the 33-year-old Splash Mountain ride amid criticism surrounding the “Song of the South” film on which it was based, the report in the Post said.

In January, park visitors on the final ride of Splash Mountain were filmed loudly singing along to the “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah” tune. The Post also reported that the Splash Mountain ride will become Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which is based on the 2009 film “Princess and the Frog”, at both Disney World in Orlando and Disneyland in Anaheim, California. For the time being, the Splash Mountain ride is still operational at Disneyland, the report indicated.  It isn’t yet clear when Splash Mountain will carry out its last-ever ride at the Anaheim park.

The move to relegate the tune from the film “Song of the South” to the historical trash heap is in line with Disney’s larger woke agenda.

In March 2020, Bob Iger, Disney’s CEO had announced  “Song of the South” would be removed from the Disney+ streaming service because of  what they perceive as its “outdated cultural depictions.” Disney felt that the film was inappropriate to be shown in today’s world, the Post reported.

Critics of Disney’s woke agenda took the entertainment giant to task last week after the trailer for the upcoming live-action film “Peter Pan & Wendy” showed girls who would be portraying the Lost Boys.
