Satmar Rebbe Claims that Orthodox Jewish Supporters of Zeldin are Brainwashed “Trumpists”

Edited by: TJVNews.com

As the election season has come to a close and the midterms are in the proverbial rear view mirror, it has been noted that the Orthodox Jewish community in Brooklyn and throughout New York threw their support behind gubernatorial challenger, Rep. Lee Zeldin, a Republican congressman from Long Island.

With the issue of preserving and protecting educational curriculum in the yeshiva system in the forefront of their minds, the Orthodox Jewish community received Rep. Zeldon’s pledge that if elected, he would make this a chief priority.

Not all Orthodox Jewish leaders or organizations, however, we on-board with the Zeldin campaign.

Tthe Vois Es Nais web site reported that Rabbi Aaron Teitelbaum, the Satmar grand rabbi, was only one of just two Chasidic rabbis to endorse Governor Kathy Hochul’s election campaign. VIN reported that he wasted no time making a public statement on Wednesday in which he denounced other segments of the Orthodox Jewish community for its nearly universal support of her opponent, as crazed “Trumpists.”

On Wednesday, Rabbi Teitelbaum addressed this issue during a lesson on Tehillim in the Kiryas Joel community as he discusssed Hochul’s victory in the elections. In the seven and a half minute audio clip which was widely circulated on social media, one could hear Rabbi Teitelbaum say that he had merely been relying on common sense to find a way to protect New York’s yeshivas from the latest round of secular education requirements, VIN reported.

He issued a critique of those Orthodox Jews who supported Zeldin and referred to them as crazed followers of former President Donald Trump who are sometimes known as “Trumpists” or “Trumpsters.” He also said that these Jewish Trump supporters are also WhatsAppers, according to the VIN report.

Signs that were posted in Kiryas Joel made their way onto Twitter on Wednesday that expressed appreciation to the village for delivering its bloc vote to Hochul, as was reported by VIN. Arutz Sheva reported that Hochul called the Satmar Rebbe’s wife on Wednesday morning to thank her for the Satmar community’s support throughout the campaign.

Another candidate running in the Monsey and New Square areas was Republican Congressman Mike Lawler. He defeated top Democrat Sean Patrick Maloney in a massive upset in Rockland County, according to published reports. Lawler’s district represents tens of thousands of orthodox Jews.

During an interview with CNN after the election, he said that he would like to see the GOP move on from Trump. Lawler said. “I would like to see the party move forward. I think any time you are focused on the future, you can’t so much go to the past.”
