The Biden Administration’s State Department has announced that it will begin promoting so-called “gender transition” coverage for American diplomats overseas, and their children.
According to the Washington Free Beacon, the State Department released a “Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) Strategic Plan,” which states that it will “assess resources for gender dysphoria and gender transition care at posts for employees and their dependents,” in order to “increase support for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex (LGBTQI+) employees and family members.”
In a separate statement, the State Department’s chief diversity and inclusion officer, Gina Abercrombie-Winstantly, said that the American foreign service “can be a leader in demonstrating how DEIA can be advanced across the federal government,” and that the entirety of the State Department “must encourage the kind of structures and processes that concretely reward the groundswell of outstanding DEIA work already underway.”
In response to the announcement, Congressman Jim Banks (R-Ind.) pointed out that such a plan would see far-left ideas being promoted in foreign countries in a manner that would only diminish America’s international standing and sour relationships with various host nations.
“The State Department might not just be paying for their employee’s kids to receive these damaging surgeries, they’re penalizing foreign service officers who disagree and pressuring countries to perform these procedures on children,” Banks pointed out. “Americans are pro-family, pro-country and pro-God. I hope foreigners understand that Joe Biden’s State Department doesn’t represent our values.”
In September, Banks and 10 other members of the Republican Study Committee (RSC) wrote a letter to the State Department demanding answers as to what such a program would entail, and how many taxpayer dollars would fund these medical procedures.
“Why should Americans support an initiative abroad that is so culturally divisive in America,” the letter asks.
Transgenderism is the widely discredited and scientifically-disproven theory that there are more than two genders, and that anyone can change their gender at any time they choose. This ideology has led to widespread indoctrination efforts in America’s institutions, including schools and the military, to convince children that there have always been multiple genders, and to enforce “gender-neutral” language such as the use of “preferred pronouns” for those who believe they were born of the “wrong” gender.
