Tennis star Naomi Osaka, four-time Grand Slam champ, is in New York to compete in the US Open out in Queens, but she has other things on her agenda as well.

According to a report in the New York Post, the tennis star spent time in the Big Apple while training for the premiere tennis event and during that time also decided to look for a place to live so that she can call NYC home. A source told the Post’s Gimme Shelter section that focuses on real estate acquisitions and news that Osaka was looking at some luxury pads. The source said of Osaka, “She was looking at condos in the $4 million to $6 million range,” and added that Osaka traveled with an entourage while on probing some upscale districts of the city. “She focused her house search in Dumbo and Fidi,” the source told the Post.

One of her top stops was at the aptly named Olympia — a 33-story luxury tower at 30 Front St. in Brooklyn’s affluent Dumbo neighborhood, the Post reported. According to the Post, the building boasts 38,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor amenities including a regulation-size tennis court overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge. Moreover, other amenities include both an indoor and outdoor pool as well as a hot tub, workout rooms, a gym with a juice bar, studio for bike spinning, private locker rooms, a two lane bowling alley, a game lounge and a maritime-themed children’s playroom, the Post reported.

The price tag for living like tennis royalty in New York City can be hefty and the Post reported that she took a look at a 18th floor, three bedroom pad that ran $5.45M until it went off the market last week.

The Post reported that” the three-bedroom, 2½-bath unit is 2,341 square feet and includes a 125-square-foot terrace overlooking the water. The home opens to a foyer and a gallery that leads to a living room that then flows onto the terrace. There’s also an open chef’s kitchen with a breakfast bar and a bedroom wing. The main bedroom has its own private entry off the foyer, with a walk-in closet and an ensuite spa-like bathroom.” The Post report added that” the building also offers residents cold storage, a bike room, a doorman and a concierge. On-site parking is also available for rent or purchase.”

In February of this year, the Dirt.com web site reported that Forbes has estimated Osaka’s net worth to be north of 60 million in a single year alone, making her the highest-paid female athlete of all time.  The Dirt.com report also indicated that the tennis star expressed a concrete interest in living on the West Coast as well as she decided to plunk down $6.3 million for a mansion in the San Fernando Valley area where boy band singer Nick Lachey and his wife Vanessa had lived for a year. The report indicated that the deal was signed off market.

Dirt.com also reported that while many might think that Osaka has made her fortune on the tennis court, the reality is that less than 10 percent of her income comes from winning on the court. The rest of her income is a result of her exceptionally well paid product endorsement deals that she has inked and that would be estimated at $55 million.
