(WND Staff) senators have asked the Department of Justice for another Hunter Biden-related investigation.
He’s already under review for his taxes and, reportedly, foreign investment schemes.
And there remain many questions regarding his operations because of details uncovered in a laptop computer he abandoned at a repair shop, including questions about Joe Biden’s possible involvement in some of the operations that netted millions of dollars.
Now Just the News reports Sens. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., and Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, who directed the Senate’s investigation of Hunter Biden’s business operations, say the Democrat company, Blue Star Strategies, which has been linked to Hunter Biden, misled the government in a report.
They say the Blue Star report it filed with the Foreign Agents Registration Act office at the DOJ was “incomplete and misleading.”
The senators asked Attorney General Merrick Garland to investigate why the company failed to disclose multiple meetings its lawyers had with the U.S. government while representing Ukraine-based gas company Burisma Holdings.
It was that company that paid Hunter Biden tens of thousands of dollars a month to be on its board, even though he had no experience in the industry. What he did have was access to his father, then the vice president.
And Joe Biden, while visiting Ukraine, ordered officials there to fire a prosecutor who then was looking into allegations of corruption at the company, and he threatened he would withhold American aid if they didn’t. Joe Biden then returned home to boast about his success in getting the prosecutor fired:
Just the News said the senators’ letter cites evidence it reported last week revealing Blue Star met with more U.S. officials than disclosed in the May 12 report.
“The report belatedly disclosed that the firm engaged in foreign lobbying in 2015 and 2016 on behalf of the Ukrainian company and its founder [Mukola Zlochevsky], whom the U.S. government believed had engaged in corruption. Hunter Biden served on the board of Burisma Holdings from 2014 to 2020,” the report said.
The senators pointed out that it appears Blue Star concealed “at least nine other meetings,” which it was supposed to reveal to comply with FARA.
The report, the senators said, appeared to conflict with the testimony from Blue Star Strategies partners Karen Tramontano and Sally Painter during a Senate investigation in 2020.
They claimed they were not trying to influence U.S. officials, but Just the News reported they met with Joe Biden energy adviser Amos Hochstein in 2016, and he testified the company did, in fact, try to change his position on Burisma.
The letter said:
Ms. Tramontano told the Committees that Blue Star Strategies engaged in ‘government relations assistance’ in the United States for Burisma and Mr. Zlochevsky. However, Ms. Painter denied to the Committees that Blue Star Strategies’ activities were ‘government relations assistance.’ Both Ms. Tramontano and Ms. Painter denied to the Committees that they lobbied the U.S. Government on behalf of Burisma and Mr. Zlochevsky and denied that they intended to influence U.S. policy with respect to them. However, Mr. Hochstein’s testimony before the Committees contradicted Ms. Tramontano’s and Ms. Painter’s claims. When the Committees asked Mr. Hochstein whether he believed Blue Star Strategies intended to ‘alter or influence U.S policy with respect to Zlochevsky,’ he told the Committees, ‘They did not like my answer [regarding Mr. Zlochevsky], and they tried to convince me otherwise.’ This example indicates that Blue Star Strategies did, in fact, engage in lobbying efforts on behalf of Burisma and its owner.”
Just the News said Blue Star lawyer Peter Kadzik said the form was submitted to close down a DOJ inquiry and he would not comment further.
The senators want to know how Garland will hold Blue Star officials “accountable” if their inconsistent disclosures were deliberate.
