The Democratic Party, once stridently in favor COVID restrictions and gleeful proponents for regulating businesses, shutting down the economy and forcing masks and vaccines on the citizenry, have begun changing their tune and reversing course with COVID rules, as midterms are months away and their polls have been sagging around the nation.

One such Democrat, New York Gov. Hochul is following suit and promised no new COVID lockdowns in her state under any circumstances.

Hochul, who herself is up for re-election and her leadership is under a microscope after the arrest of Lt. Gov Brian A. Benjamin, New York’s second in command to the Gov. Benjamin was charged with bribery, fraud, and falsification of records.

Benjamin, a far left radical, who supports BLM and “woke” ideologies such as “defund the police”, was handpicked by Hochul after her predecessor Andrew Cuomo resigned from office due to a slew of scandals and she assumed office.  The incumbent was once considered a heavy favorite to get re-elected as Governor; however with these recent developments, NY state may now have a real race on its hands.

Appearing on popular NYC talk radio outlet WABC 770 AM, the governor promised NY  would never again be crippled by the COVID-19 pandemic, promising, “I’m not going to shut it down again, you can count on that.”

NY Post reported:

The Democratic gubernatorial candidate vowed to not reimpose COVID-related restrictions that ground the state to a halt — as the Big Apple faces an uptick in cases.

“I’m going to protect the health of New Yorkers, but I’m also protecting the economy,” she told John Catsimatidis, host of “The Cats Roundtable,” in an interview out Sunday.

“I’m not going to shut it down again; you can count on that.”

After over two years of various COVID rules, the public has grown tired of being told what to do by bureaucrats as COVID death and hospitalization rates continues to tumble, even with the uptick of infections due to a new variant.

After a conservative judge in Florida declared mask mandates on flights and public transportation to be unconstitutional, the Biden administration appeared to accept the ruling and instead told Americans to “decide for themselves” if they want to wear a mask or not.

The trend since February has been a gradual peeling back on COVID rules, from vaccine mandates for public events, to mask requirements and demands of everyone taking a booster shot, the Democrats have seemingly appeared to side with libertarians and many Republicans on ending the COVID rules. In NYC, Mayor Adams, ended the draconian de Blasio mandates which banned anyone unvaccinated from attending as movie, concert, sporting event, or even eating in a restaurant; however, thousands of workers, have lost their jobs after refusing vaccinations and the mayor has not acted on ending COVID vaccine employment requirements.

Meanwhile, Hochul said she’s working closely with Mayor Eric Adams to ensure that Big Apple tourism isn’t affected by the city’s surging crime rate, according to a report in the NY Post.
