The man police believe to be responsible for violently kicking a woman in the chest, sending her falling down an escalator at a Brooklyn subway station, has been arrested, as was reported by NBCNewYork.com.

On Friday evening, NYC police arrested Bradley K. Hill, 32, and charged him with assault and attempted assault.

A video of the attack that took place on September 9th at the Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center subway station in the Boerum Hill section of Brooklyn, shows Hill going up the escalator at Barclays Center and then turning around to kick the victim in her chest, sending her tumbling down several feet of the narrow steps, as was reported by NBCNewYork.com

The victim, who does not want her name released, told NBC New York earlier this week: “There was someone that brushed past me, like pushed me to the side and it was this guy and I told him real quick, ‘say excuse me,'” She added: “He just kicked me out of nowhere. And I just came tumbling down the escalator, past everyone, all the way to the bottom floor.”

Hill did not respond to reporters’ questions about the surveillance video as police led him out of the stationhouse in handcuffs.

WABC7 reported that she suffered cuts and bruises to her back, arms, legs, right knee, right thigh and left ankle, but she declined medical attention.

The victim said the experience has left her traumatized.

“I’m lucky I’m not dead or unconscious but it could happen to somebody that runs into him,” the woman said.

The crime rate in New York City has reached unprecedented levels since the emergence of the deadly coronavirus pandemic in March of 2020. In recent months, the numbers of violent crime in the city has skyrocketed with many attacks taking place in the NYC subway system.

On Friday, it was announced that New York state Governor Kathy Hochul has decided to release over 100 Rikers Island prisoners in her “Less in More” prisoner release program. She has said that it is her intention to release even more prisoners in the future. Moreover, new bail reform laws have seen many violent criminals back on the street very soon after they are apprehended.

The issue of the escalation of violent crime in New York City has become a major issue for debate among the candidates running for mayor of New York City. Curtis Sliwa, the founder of the Guardian Angels, (the crime fighting brigade that emerged in the early 1980s as a force to be reckoned with) is running under the Republican ticket for mayor of NYC and has promised New Yorkers to make this a much safer city. For his part. Democratic candidate for mayor, Eric Adams (a former NYPD caption) has also pledged to do all in his power to eradicate crime in the Big Apple if elected in the November general election.
