Report: UK Heiress Brought Bill Clinton into Jeffrey Epstein’s Orbit

Dots continue to be connected in the case of convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

In a story headlined “Ghislaine Maxwell brought Bill Clinton to Jeffrey Epstein: report,” the New York Post has reported that former President Bill Clinton’s “connection to since-convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein was established through British heiress and longtime Epstein pal Ghislaine Maxwell, who also became a friend of former first daughter Chelsea, according to a new report Sunday.”

By Andy B. Mayfair

Politico.com ran a similar piece titled “Meet the woman who ties Jeffrey Epstein to Trump and the Clintons: Heiress Ghislaine Maxwell paved the way to presidents.” The site reported that Maxwell, “who has denied accusations made in civil suits of aiding and participating in Epstein’s sexual abuse of minors, has been among the financier’s closest associates. Unlike Epstein, she comes from a rarefied background that gave her entrée to the rich and powerful.”

For years, Politico continued, “beginning in the early ’90s, she and Epstein cut glittering figures on the Manhattan, N.Y., and Palm Beach, Fla., social circuits, with Maxwell taking the lead. While people who knew Epstein in Palm Beach described him as “very odd” and said “he didn’t go out much,” those who know Maxwell described her as “vivacious,” “warm” and “effusive.”… Maxwell first grew close with the Clintons after Bill Clinton left office, vacationing on a yacht with Chelsea Clinton in 2009, attending her wedding in 2010, and participating in the Clinton Global Initiative as recently as 2013, years after her name first emerged in accounts of Epstein’s alleged sexual abuse.”

Maxwell was also associated with the Clinton Global Initiative “as recently as 2013, when it promoted a “commitment to action” by a group that included Maxwell’s environmental nonprofit, the TerrarMar Project, which she shuttered in the wake of Epstein’s arrest earlier this month,” according to the Post. “All of those dates followed Epstein’s 2008 sweetheart-deal of a conviction in Florida on two prostitution-related charges, one of which involved a minor. The multimillionaire financier was busted July 6 on child sex-trafficking charges and last week was ordered held without bail pending trial. He has pleaded not guilty.”

Meanwhile, where exactly the trail will lead has become a popular guessing game. As Bloomberg pointed out, “Since Jeffrey Epstein’s arrest, the speculation has mounted. Will any among the rich and powerful he courted be caught up in the case? Some answers might come soon. A judge could decide on July 24 how and when to unseal a trove of documents — some 2,000 pages worth — in connection with a civil lawsuit filed by an Epstein accuser against his one-time companion Ghislaine Maxwell. The papers may reveal allegations of sexual abuse involving people described in court filings as “prominent individuals.”

on
Empower and train students to join the movement and become activists on their campuses and within their communities

Training and Activism

Turning Point USA hosts a series of student activist training conferences that are designed to train and equip our best student leaders, provide one-of-a-kind networking opportunities, and inspire and empower students to be fearless in their fight for our values. These conferences bring students from all across the country together to learn about the issues, hone their activism skills, and form life-long coalitions with other leaders in the movement.

Annual TPUSA conferences include the Young Women’s Leadership Summit, Young Latino Leadership Summit, High School Activist Conference, and Winter in West Palm Beach Activist Retreat.

Turning Point USA’s National Field Program is the largest and most powerful campus activist program in America. For years, the left has dominated college campuses with paid field organizers, daily activism initiatives, and endless waves of leftist propaganda. With a presence on over 1,300 college campuses nationwide, Turning Point USA has a stronger, more organized presence than all of the left-wing campus groups combined.

TPUSA works consistently to re-brand free market values. With sound bites like, “Big Government Sucks” and the incorporation of pop culture, TPUSA is able to reach new demographics and continuously expand the base. We combine culture with politics to engage young people in meaningful face-to-face conversations.

Through innovative messaging and strategic outreach techniques, TPUSA is able to identify over 150,000 conservative activists in a single school year, and engage in over 500,000 face-to-face conversations with college students each semester.

To date, Turning Point USA has launched over 400 TPUSA chapters and provided thousands of like-minded student groups with resources such as activism supplies, leadership training, and field staff support. TPUSA believes that the movement is stronger when everyone works together — especially on college campuses where leftists stand united and strong.

In addition to developing a first-class campus activism program, TPUSA has written several original publications including:

— Capitalism Cures
— The Healthcare Games
— Game of Loans
— If The Founders Had Twitter
— 5 Reasons Censorship Should Offend You

These publications are written specifically for students, and designed to provide readers with facts, figures, and talking points that can be used to promote and explain important issues facing country.

Archeologists Discover Ancient Synagogue in Vilna

For the first time since it was burned in the Holocaust and destroyed – Hebrew inscriptions from the excavations of the Great Synagogue in Vilnius (Vilna) are exposed.

 The researchers, from the Israel Antiquities Authority and Kultūros paveldo  Išsaugojimo pajėgos of Lithuania, invite the public to add information about the figures mentioned in the 200-year-old inscription.

 An exciting discovery in Lithuania: for the first time since the beginning of the excavation project to expose the Great Synagogue of Vilna, which was burned during the Holocaust and demolished by the Soviets, Hebrew inscriptions were discovered.

 According to the researchers, Dr. Jon Seligman of the Israel Antiquities Authority and Justinas Račas of the Kultūros paveldo Išsaugojimo pajėgos of Lithuania, who have conducted excavations in Lithuania every summer for the last four years, “the large and significant inscription, dated to 1796, was part of a stone Torah reading table that stood on the magnificent Bimah of the synagogue in Vilnius.

The table was donated – according to the text – by two brothers – Rabbi Eliezer and Rabbi Shmuel, in memory of their mother, Sarah, and their father, Rabbi Chaim, who, according to the inscription, had emigrated from Lithuania to Eretz Israel and settled in Tiberias. It was from this table that the Torah was read to the congregants for about 200 years, until the burning of the synagogue and its final destruction by the Soviets, 70 years ago.

 The inscription, which was studied together with Dr. Vladimir Levin of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, reads this: “In the year “Raise us with joy to our country”  [=1796]. [This Torah reading table] was donated by R. Eliezer and R. Shmuel, the sons of R. Chaim who lived in Tiberias, be it rebuilt and reestablished soon in our days. “And died Sarah” [Gen. 23:2] our mother, the daughter of R. Shabbtai, on the 4th of Adar “I gave to Jerusalem a messenger of good news” [Is. 41:27] [=1782] and our father R. Chaim son of R. Chaim died there on the 7th of Nissan “arise and have mercy on Zion” [Ps. 102:14] [=1786].”

 These brief sentences point to the deep connection between the Lithuanian (Litvak) community and the Holy Land, which has existed since the days of the Gaon of Vilna until the present day. According to the preliminary investigation the donor family was one of the leading rabbinical families in Lithuania at the beginning of the 18th century. Due to the absence of the family name in the inscription, the information we have is not complete, and we invite the public to complete the puzzle and provide information about the family through the Facebook page of the project.

 Another personal greeting from the past was discovered in the form of a seating plaque, for the head of the “Tzedaka Gedola” association, which managed the Great Synagogue of Vilna from the end of the 18th century until 1931. “These are the discoveries that fascinate us most: it is the personal objects that provide a direct connection to people, to those who prayed here, that immediately ignites the imagination,” the researchers say.

 The excavation of the Great Synagogue in Lithuania is a joint venture of the Israel Antiquities Authority, the Kultūros paveldo Išsaugojimo pajėgos of Lithuania, the Good Will Foundation, and the Jewish Community of Lithuania. According to Israel Hasson, Director of the Israel Antiquities Authority, “The project of exposing the historic Great Synagogue of Vilna is part of the IAA’s ‘Heritage without Borders’ concept, which also includes the research of sites outside the borders of the State of Israel. This arises from the perception that the IAA was entrusted by the Israeli public to serve as the ‘watchtower’ on its behalf for the protection of heritage and cultural assets”.

 This year’s excavation, with the participation of a team of Israeli, Lithuanian and international archaeologists and volunteers, uncovered large sections of the magnificent synagogue Bimah. The Bimah, which originally was two stories tall, was built in the 18th  century by means of a donation from the well-known Jewish philanthropist, the Yesod. “The decorative Baroque Bimah, which was documented in photographs from the early 20th century, was a two-story structure set between four magnificent pillars that supported the ceiling. Between these columns, and on the front of the Bimah, cantor read the Torah to the congregation for 300 years. An interesting discovery was the terrazzo floor, which was colorful and elegant. Below the Bimah, and also unknown to the researchers was a large cellar. Among the finds recovered during the excavation were a prayer book that survived the Holocaust, hundreds of coins from the 16th to 20th centuries and buttons of Napoleon’s army, which passed through Vilnius on its way to defeat in Moscow in 1812.

 “The discovery of the pillars of the synagogue, the central parts of the Bimah and the inscription, attest to the potential inherent in the continuation of the excavation at the site and the exciting possibility of presenting the remains of the Great Synagogue of Vilna and Shulhoyf (synagogue courtyard) in the future to the public.”

Trump: Four Democratic Congresswomen Not ‘Capable of Loving Our Country’

President Trump contended Sunday that four minority Democratic congresswomen he has been feuding with are not “capable of loving our Country.”

By: Ken Bredemeier

“They should apologize to America (and Israel) for the horrible (hateful) things they have said,” Trump said on Twitter. “They are destroying the Democrat Party, but are weak & insecure people who can never destroy our great Nation!”

For days now, Trump has assailed Congresswomen Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ayana Pressley of Massachusetts and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, first telling them they should “go back” to their countries and “fix things” in their homelands before telling the U.S. what it ought to do. All of them are U.S. citizens, three of them by birth and Somali refugee Omar by naturalization.

Democrats and some Republicans have sharply criticized Trump’s week-old remarks and the U.S. House of Representatives condemned them as “racist,” but the U.S. leader has continued to assail the four women, all newcomers to Congress in January.

In turn, the lawmakers have attacked him, with Omar saying, “I believe he is fascist.”

The ongoing verbal warfare reverberated on the Sunday news talk television shows.

Mercedes Schlapp, a Trump campaign aide, defended the president, telling ABC News, “I have worked with President Trump for two years and he is not a racist. He is a compassionate man whose policies have focused on the minority community.”

Trump immigration adviser Stephen Miller, told Fox News that Trump’s critical remarks of U.S. policies during his 2016 campaign were made out of love for America.

But he said “there’s a huge difference” between Trump’s credo of promoting “America first” and the lawmakers’ ideology “that runs down America.”

Congressman Elijah Cummings, one of several House committee chairmen investigating Trump and his administration’s policies, told ABC he believes Trump is a racist.

“Yes, no doubt about it,” Cummings contended. “I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt.”

Cummings says the four congresswomen targeted by Trump “love their country” and want to move closer to the “more perfect union that our founding fathers talked about. When you disagree with the president, suddenly you’re a bad person.”

He concluded, “Our allegiance is not to the president. Our allegiance is to the Constitution of the United States of America and the American people.” (VOA)

Attacker Gets 30 Months for Beating Victim He Thought Was Jewish

The attacker yelled “I want to kill all of the Jews,” as he viciously beat someone he thought was Jewish.

By: WIN Staff

Izmir Koch, 34, was recently sentenced to 30 months in prison for beating a man he believed to be Jewish in Cincinnati.

The incident happened in February 2017, when Koch, originally from Turkey, stood outside of a restaurant asking people if they were Jewish.

The victim, Paul Marshall replied in the affirmative even though he is not.

Koch then beat him, while shouting “I want to kill all of the Jews.” and “I want to stab the Jews.” A number of others joined in the assault, reported Al-Buraaq News.

Marshall sustained injured ribs and a face fracture below his eye.

Todd Wickerham, a special agent leading the FBI’s office in Cincinnati, said the bureau sought a stiff sentence, reported Cleveland Jewish News.

“We just think the impact of someone being assaulted because of their religious preferences or their background is so impactful in the community that we want to take these cases on to make sure the penalties … really fit the impact of this,” Wickerham said.

“The FBI aggressively investigates hate crime incidents and works closely with impacted communities,” added Wickerham. “Each day we strive to protect civil rights and hold accountable those who violate the rights of others.”

This is the first time in the Southern District of Ohio that someone was convicted under the Matthew Sheppard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009.

“Individuals should be able to live without fear of attack or intimidation based on their religious beliefs,” said Assistant Attorney General Eric Dreiband of the Civil Rights Division, according to Al-Buraaq News. “Prosecuting hate crimes is a top priority for the Department of Justice and as this sentence today demonstrates, we will not back down from obtaining justice for victims of violence based on hate.”

Koch’s lawyer Carl Lewis filed an appeal. (World Israel News)

Barneys Mulling Chapter 11 Bankruptcy After Rent on Flagship Store in NYC Rises to $30M a Year

The prospect of a New York City without a Barneys New York department store is disconcerting – but it may happen.

By: David Kantelevich

The venerable retailer says it is mulling a bankruptcy filing – in large part, according to reports, because of a major rise in its annual rent at its Madison Avenue Flagship location: from $16 million to $30 million store.

When Ashkenazy Acquisition Corporation bought a trio of Barneys stores in 2001, it worked out a two-decade-long lease for the Madison Avenue locale. The $16 million lease stipulated that the rent could be hiked to accord with fair market value upon renewal, according to an article in the New York Times.

“Last year, Ashkenazy nearly doubled the rent on the 275,000-square-foot store at 660 Madison Avenue, pushing the retailer to consider a number of options, including filing for bankruptcy, renegotiating leases on its flagship and its 22 other stores, as well as taking on a new investor to inject new capital into the company,” reported Crain’s New York Business.

Barneys New York is a luxury specialty retailer renowned for having the most discerning edit from the world’s top designers, including women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, accessories, shoes, jewelry, cosmetics, fragrances, and gifts for the home. Barneys’ signature sense of wit and style is manifested in its creative advertising campaigns, original holiday themes, and celebrated window displays. Today, Barneys New York operates flagship stores in New York City, Beverly Hills, Chicago, Seattle, Boston, San Francisco, Las Vegas and along with a preeminent luxury online store, Barneys.com, as well as 16 other full price stores and warehouse stores across the United States.

“At Barneys New York, our customers remain our top priority and we are committed to providing them the excellent services, products, and experiences they have come to expect. We continue to work closely with all of our business partners to achieve the goals we’ve set together and maximize value. To that end, our Board and management are actively evaluating opportunities to strengthen our balance sheet and ensure the sustainable, long-term growth and success of our business,” a Barneys spokesperson said in a statement released to Business Insider. “At the same time, we continue to evolve our strategy and business model for the benefit of all of our stakeholders through our forward-thinking and uniquely modern approach, as demonstrated by our announced store openings at American Dream in New Jersey and at Bal Harbour Shops in Miami Beach, our new store in Las Vegas, Freds at Barneys New York coming to Copley Place in Boston, the launch of our luxury cannabis lifestyle and wellness concept shop and various pop-up and vendor installation projects.”

DeBlasio: Tinkering with the Property Tax System Could Put Strain on NYC

0

Property taxes are a mess in New York City, and officials – even the mayor – appear reluctant to mess with them.

In fact, May Bill de Blasio said during an interview on radio station WYNC this past week, tinkering with the creaky property tax system could put too big a strain on an already strained city.

By Howard M. Riell

A report is expected shortly from a commission that the mayor and City Council put together in 2018 to look at the labyrinthine system of real estate excises. He warned the caller, though, that he would not permit any reforms that might be called for to strain the budget and keep the city’s expansive workforce from further expansion.

“We cannot end up with a system that reduces our revenue substantially, unless people want to see a change in the services provided by the city,” de Blasio said on air. “Right now I believe the city is at a point of some equilibrium: crime has continued to go down, the economy is strong, more jobs, city services are stronger in many ways than they’ve been. But we still have a lot of giant problems to address. And we can’t—in my view—reduce revenue without really negatively affecting the quality of life, and negatively affecting the economy and our safety.”

“For decades, tax laws have prevented assessments from rising more than 6% a year, even though property values in certain areas—such as de Blasio’s home neighborhood of Park Slope—have increased far more,” Crain’s New York Business recently reported. “Advocates argue this has forced a disproportionate burden on rental buildings, commercial properties and houses in outer-ring neighborhoods which are more likely to belong to minority homeowners.”

“We’re going to have to figure out how to make the system better, but not lose substantial revenue in the process. So it’s not going to be a panacea to say the least,” de Blasio told the radio audience. “In the end, I gotta go with what is the quality of life of New Yorkers? How safe are we, how strong is our economy, how good are our services, what is the quality of life—and what do we need to sustain it?”

If the mayor was taking heat for the tax and budget picture, he was more concerned with the summer heat searing the city. He, Emergency Management Commissioner Deanne Criswell and Health Commissioner Dr. Oxiris Barbot updated New Yorkers on the heat emergency. The Mayor signed an Executive Order proclaiming a state of local emergency due to the extreme heat.

“New York City is dealing with a major heat emergency with temperatures in the high 90s this weekend,” said de Blasio. “Every single New Yorker must take this seriously. Drink plenty of water, stay cool and seek help if you need it. To limit strain on our energy grid, I have ordered both City government buildings and private office buildings to limit their energy consumption by turning thermostats to 78 degrees. Everyone must do their part to ensure safety until this heat wave passes.”

Trump to Visit Israel in January to Commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz; Other World Leaders to Attend

January of 2020 will mark the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp and according to a report that appeared in the Jerusalem Post on Sunday, such preeminent world leaders as President Trump and French president Emmanuel Macron will be visiting Israel to commemorate this historic event.

Edited by: JV Staff

Israeli officials have said that the event would take place over January 26-27 in Jerusalem and is being organized by the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum.

 According to the JPost report, the leaders would arrive in Israel on January 26, spend one night here, and take part in an event at Yad Vashem called the World Holocaust Forum the next day. January 27th is recognized as International Holocaust Remembrance Day and events, forums and commemorations are held the world over.

Officials have also said that such other world leaders who may be in attendance include German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Britain’s future Prime Minister and possibly Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

If Macron accepts the offer to join the event in Jerusalem, it will be his first visit to Israel as French president and it will be President Trump’s second visit since taking office in January of 2017.

The Jerusalem Post has reported that a major, unnamed donor has been enlisted to make the event possible.

i24 News reported that officials have worked for months behind the scenes to make the historic commemoration a reality. In an address that he delivered at Yad Vashem last May, Israeli President Reuven Rivlin alluded to the event.

“With the rise in anti-Semitic voices, I have recently approached world leaders to invite them to an international conference that will be held here at Yad Vashem next January, to mark the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz,” he said.

“Here in Jerusalem, together with presidents and heads of state, we will join forces in the uncompromising fight against anti-Semitism, xenophobia and Holocaust denial,” Rivlin added.

The JPost also reported that earlier this month Russian President Vladimir Putin extended an invitation to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to join him in Moscow to participate in a ceremony commemorating 75 years since the defeat of the Nazis scheduled to be held in May.

No indication has been given as to whether Putin will be invited to participate in the event in Israel in January.

Do UN Palestine aid agency donors realize they’re funding terrorism?

A total of 23 countries announced more than $110 million to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) on June 25, with the biggest contributions coming from the EU, Germany and Britain.

The announcement of contribution had come at Pledging Conference at Trusteeship Council Chamber at UN HQ in New York on June 25.
The delegations and the amount pledged is listed below
European Union (€21 million);
Turkey ($10 million);
Philippines ($10,000);
India ($5 million);
Sweden ($5 million);
France (€20 million);
Germany (€29 million);
New Zealand ($1 million);
Belgium (€11.6 million total for 2019);
Estonia (€280,000);
Ireland ($22 million);
Norway ($2 million in addition to $26.4 million already paid);
Indonesia ($200,000 in addition to the $1 million already paid);
United Kingdom ($24 million for a total of $83 million for 20192020);
Switzerland ($1 million to the $21 million already paid in 2019);
Kazakhstan ($50,000);
Pakistan ($250,000);
Cyprus (€100,000)
The Holy See ($40,000).

The critics of the UNRWA allege that a large chunk of agency’s staff (particularly in Gaza) is affiliated to the Gaza-ruling Hamas and that the 70-year-old UN aid agency, functions on the idea of refugee — whose definition is unique to Palestine and thereby is subjective in nature.
The refugee population of Palestine has only grown from 7,11,000 in 1948 to over 6 million in 2018, points out Kay Wilson, a British-born Israeli who survived the brutal machete attack which took place in 2010. The continuous growth of the Palestinian refugee population has in turn, only ratcheted up the need for an increase in funding.

On being questioned about the irregularities in mobilization of the received foreign funds, Wilson says, “We need to differentiate between two kinds of aid to the Palestinians — the direct aid to the Palestinian Authority (PA), and the aid meant for the UNRWA”.
“The less problematic of the two, is of course the aid to UNRWA. While there are many different issues with UNRWA, it is nonetheless a UN organization that has operated for almost 70 years.”

The Agency currently serves 5.4 million Palestinian refugees — 20 per cent of the world’s refugees.

UNRWA provides services that the Palestinian economic ministry or treasury should handle, thereby enabling the PA administration to divert its resources for support of terrorists and their families.
The scholars maintain if UNRWA would cease taking up the government’s task to provide with the fundamental needs — education, health, welfare, the PA would not be able to continue paying salaries to terrorists.

In 2017/18 the US, which had been the biggest donor to UNRWA stopped its funding.
In order to fill the budgetary short fall created by the loss of the US funding, UNRWA turned to many countries, and many of them, including the UK, decided to increase their contributions.

The US funding policy to PA starkly opposes to that of its closest ally, the UK.
The US stopped most of its aid to the PA alleging it to be “irredeemably flawed” and “has been in crisis mode for many years,” the then US State Department Spokesperson Heather Nauert said.

The decision also came in wake of the passage of the Taylor Force Act (TFA), which was passed after Taylor Force, an American who graduated from West Point and served in Iraq and Afghanistan was stabbed to death by a Palestinian militant while walking along the beach in Tel Aviv.
The TFA dictates that the US will not give the PA any direct aid until it abolishes its policy, practice and law that provide for the paying of salaries to terrorists and allowances to the families of dead terrorists

The US contribution as of 2019 to UNRWA is zero.

UNRWA has faced a financial crisis since the US, historically the agency’s largest single donor, cut its contributions from $360m to $60m in 2018 and then down again to zero for 2019.
Minister for the Middle East Dr. Andrew Murrison announced an additional £19 million to UNRWA from the UK’s Department for International Development and took the UK support to UNRWA for 2019/20 to £65.5 million
In addition to its aid to UNRWA and specific projects, in 2017 the UK adopted a five-year program of direct funding to the PA worth over 1,25 million pounds.

UK govt maintains that UK support to UNRWA, that is Palestine refugee agency, is helping to achieve Global Goals 1 and 2 by helping to end extreme poverty and hunger by providing food, vouchers and cash to Palestinian refugees and Global Goals 3 and 4 by providing education and health care services.
When UK’s Department for International Development was reached out, its spokesperson said, “No UK aid is used for payments to Palestinian prisoners or their families.”

“The UK’s support for the Palestinian Authority helps to pay the salaries of pre-approved public servants, including teachers, doctors and nurses. Public servants are only eligible for this funding after they have been vetted by the UK. We have robust safeguards in place to make sure our support is not diverted.”

There is a difference between what the UK says the money is used for and what the PA says the money is used for. The UK is ignoring the concept of “fungible money”.

“By paying the salaries of the PA’s public servants — instead of the PA — the UK is directly enabling the PA to divert its own funds to the payment of the salaries to the terrorists. I therefore called for an inquiry, and to my knowledge that has never happened,” visibly anguished Wilson said.
The UK had frozen its donations to the PA briefly.
It calls for special mention that the notable graduates of the UNRWA school system include former Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh, and Abd al-Aziz Rantisi, the former Hamas chief who attended UNRWA secondary school in Khan Younis and graduated top of his class, per a report.

Another instance is that of Suheil al-Hindi, a UNRWA teachers’ representative who publicly applauded suicide bombings at a school in the Jabaliya refugee camp in Gaza in 2003. It is alleged that the members of the UNRWA are permitted to openly affiliate with terror outfits like Hamas, Fatah and Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

It is a widely known fact that the UNRWA school premises have been used to militarily train children on how to develop Molotov cocktails and roadside bombs. On June 9, 2017, UN spokesman Chris Gunness reported that UNRWA had exposed a section of tunnel under two of its schools in the al-Maghazi refugee camp.

A stockpile of Hamas rockets has also been known to found in one of UNRWA’s Gaza schools — for the third time since the onset of Operation Protective Edge.

The discovery of the rockets was made during a regular inspection.
PA, itself, admitted to spending no less than 502 million sheckels to pay salaries to terrorists in 2018. The tax revenues, collected by the Jewish state on PA’s behalf, account for almost 50 per cent of the PA budget.
Israel and the PA have been in a standoff over the approximate NIS 600 million in customs payments per month. The PA has refused to accept further transfers from Israel unless, the government agrees to transfer 100 per cent of the payments.

“Due to denial in accepting the tax collected, the PA’s budget is massively crippling, yet the terrorists and prisoners keep getting paid. Where do you think the funds and aid come from?” an anonymous source questioned.

Natalie Portman Stirs Controversy as She Compares Anne Frank with Illegals Hiding from ICE in the US

Recalling a trip she took when she was 16 years old to the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam, Hollywood actress, Natalie Portman, became the latest celebrity to jump into the US immigration controversy fray by taking to social media to express her views.

Edited by: JV Staff

Addressing whether it is appropriate to craft an analogy between immigrant detention camps on the US southern border with the concentration camps of Hitler’s Europe during World War II, the actress who was born in Israel posted the photo of herself at the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam on Instagram on Wednesday and wrote:

“When I was 16 I visited Anne Frank’s house with Miep Gies, the woman who bravely hid Anne and her family when the Nazis were rounding up Jews in Amsterdam and much of Europe. Today, I shudder at the thought of a young girl hiding somewhere in my own country, afraid to turn on her light or make a noise or play outside lest she get rounded up by our government. #notinmyname and #notinmycountry Follow @theirc @fams2gether @together.rising @aclu_nationwide @raicestexas to learn how you can help.”

According to a report in the Jerusalem Post, Portman’s post comes on the heels of a tweet by New York City Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez  that said, “This administration has established concentration camps on the southern border of the United States for immigrants, where they are being brutalized with dehumanizing conditions and dying.”

At least five American Jewish organizations, including the Anti-Defamation League, and many public figures let Ocasio-Cortez known they thought she was wrong to compare migrant detention centers on the southern border to concentration camps.

The JPost also reported that Deborah Lipstadt, the Emory University professor and scholar whose fight against a prominent Holocaust survivor was the basis for the movie, Denial, tweeted following Ocasio-Cortez’s statement: “Talk about the horrific conditions & not historical analogies. Don’t give those who are behind this policy a chance to piously claim they are being wrongly accused. Use of Holocaust analogies to condemn US immigration policy is a distraction.”

Portman, now 38, starred on Broadway in a revival of “The Diary of Anne Frank” that same year as a 16-year-old, according to a report in the Forward. She posted about studying the role of Frank, comparing the experience of Frank and her family hiding in the Secret Annex to that of migrants hiding from Immigration And Custom Enforcement agents.

The Forward suggested that suggested that Portman may have been indirectly referencing the story of Liza, a teenager in Passaic, New Jersey, who told The New York Times that she and her family huddled in their house with the lights off early last Sunday morning as ICE agents waited outside.

Remembering the Victims of the AMIA Bombing, Pompeo Praises Argentina for Designating Hezbollah a Terror Organization

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Friday praised Argentina for designating Hezballah as a terrorist organization in its entirety, emphasizing its military and financial wings. Meeting with Argentine President Mauricio Macri in Buenos Aires, Pompeo also reaffirmed U.S. support for Argentina’s economic reform agenda. They discussed cooperation on promoting human rights and democracy in the region, including in Venezuela, Cuba, and Nicaragua.

The two leaders committed to further expanding cooperation on a range of bilateral and global issues, including security, democracy, and trade and investment. Secretary Pompeo commended Argentina for its regional leadership in hosting the Western Hemisphere Counterterrorism Ministerial, and the two leaders pledged to continue cooperation to combat transnational crime and terrorism.

Pompeo said he was moved by the country’s touching tribute to the victims of Argentine Israelite Mutual Association (AMIA) bombing 25 years ago in a memorial service earlier in the day, according to an i24 News report.

“The memorial was a powerful prologue to today’s ministerial, a reminder that the hemisphere is not immune from the sting of foreign terror,” Pompeo said.

On July 18, 1994, a suicide driver blew up a van filled with explosives, destroying the headquarters of the Jewish community known as AMIA, killing 85 people and wounding more than 300.

 The attack by Hezbollah, Pompeo said, was the reason why the Trump administration slapped sanctions against Salman Raouf Salman, the suspected “mastermind” and “on the ground coordinator” behind the AMIA bombing, with the US Treasury announcing a freeze of his assets and a $7 million reward for information on his location, according to the i24 News report.

No one ever claimed responsibility for the AMIA center attack. Argentina also blames Hezbollah for an attack on the Israeli embassy in Buenos Aires in 1992 that killed 29 people.

According to a Washington Post report, in an opening statement to the gathering of 18 nations in Argentina’s capital, Pompeo said that international terrorist groups such as al-Qaeda and the Islamic State “continue to seek a lasting presence in our hemisphere.”

“The roots of these terror groups may be many miles away, but their branches twist around the globe — raising funds, seeking recruits, probing for our weaknesses, challenging our defenses,” Pompeo said.

But “Iran-backed Hezbollah,” he said, is a particular threat in South America, where it has long maintained active fundraising and recruiting efforts in the tri-border area of Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil, and in Venezuela.

J Street Backs Omar’s pro-BDS Resolution But Alleges to Oppose Sanctions on Israel

J Street, part of the Progressive Left, supports Congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s right to launch a pro-BDS resolution while claiming the organization is anti-BDS.

By: Batya Jerenberg

A progressive left-wing American Jewish organization has come out in favor of Rep. Omar Ilhan’s pro-BDS resolution, agreeing with her that boycott activities are a constitutionally protected right.

J Street, one of 10 American Jewish organizations that launched the “Progressive Israel Network” last month, issued a statement on Thursday saying that it is “strongly” opposed to the global BDS Movement because of its “refusal to recognize the right of Jewish people to national self-determination and its refusal to support a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.”

Nonetheless, it supports the anti-Israel congresswoman’s resolution, which does not specifically mention Israel, citing the need “to protect the rights of all Americans to non-violent protest and free speech.”

Ilhan’s resolution affirms that “all Americans have the right to participate in boycotts in pursuit of civil and human rights at home and abroad, as protected by the First Amendment to the Constitution.”

However, the freshman congresswoman admitted in an interview with Al-Monitor, an Arab-American media site, that her motion is “an opportunity for us to explain why it is we support a nonviolent movement, which is the BDS Movement.”

Israel’s Strategic Affairs Ministry came out earlier this year with a report showing more than 100 links between terrorist organizations and BDS-supporting groups.

It is widely assumed that Omar’s initiative came in response to a resolution currently being considered in the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Sponsored by Rep. Bradley Schneider (D-Illinois), it counters BDS moves, “including efforts to target United States companies that are engaged in commercial activities that are legal under United States law, and all efforts to delegitimize the State of Israel.”

Twenty-seven states have already adopted laws over the past few years to discourage such boycotts.

Omar’s resolution is co-sponsored by Reps. John Lewis (D-Georgia) and anti-Israel Palestinian-American Rashida Tlaib (D-Michigan). Tlaib and Omar have both announced a trip to Israel next month. According to Israeli law, the country can deny entry to BDS activists, but it is considered unlikely that the congresswomen will be barred. (World Israel News)

US Secretary of Energy Rick Perry Visits the Western Wall and the Western Wall Tunnels

Mr. Rick Perry, Secretary of Energy of the United States, came with his wife for a visit to the Western Wall and the Western Wall Tunnels to begin his official and first visit to the State of Israel.

The Rabbi of the Western Wall and Holy Sites, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, greeted the Secretary along with the Israel’s Minister of Energy, Dr. Yuval Steinitz, and the Director of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation, Mr. Mordechai (Suli) Eliav.

The Rabbi recited Psalms Chapter 121 and told Secretary Perry that there was great symbolism to his visit falling on a day when we mark the fast of the 17 of Tamuz and the beginning of the “Three Weeks” when the Jewish nation mourns and remembers its past and prays for its future. The visit expressed the deep connection between Israel and the United States. This site provides the spiritual energy for the Jewish nation and for the entire world.

Israel’s Minister of Energy, Dr. Yuval Steinitz, greeted the U.S. Secretary of Energy, Mr. Rick Perry: “Welcome to Jerusalem, the eternal capital of the Jewish nation. I am sure this visit to the Western Wall will provide positive energies for this important visit to Israel.”

The Secretary took a tour of the Western Wall Tunnels, guided by the Director of the Foundation, that showed him fascinating remnants and ancient Judaica items that tell the story of Jewish yearning for Jerusalem throughout the generations. The visit ended at the new model of the Temple where the Secretary learned of the site’s historic significance for the Jewish people.

The Secretary noted the strong partnership between the United States and Israel and said, “This is a monumental moment for me and for my wife; being here is amazing. I hope our future will be as strong as our history.”

President Rivlin hosted the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation (IPBC) and Eurovision 2019 team at Beit HaNasi to mark the holding of the Eurovision Song Contest in Israel

President Reuven (Ruvi) Rivlin hosted the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation and Eurovision Song Contest 2019 team at Beit HaNasi in honor of the impressive and successful show held in Israel, on July 21, 2019. IPBC’s CEO Eldad Koblenz, chair of the board of directors Gil Omer, Eurovision producer Zivit Davidovich, management and employees of the Kan 11 TV channel and the Eurovision production team participated in the meeting.

The president thanked the staff of IPBC, who worked so hard on behalf of the public to produce the spectacular Eurovision Song Contest and the festival that accompanied it, which became an unforgettable experience for many Israelis and tourists around the world.

“Thank you very much,” said the president, “and if I can join the judges’ panel, I want to award you ‘douze points!’” The president added, “you produced a huge international event with close to 200 million viewers around the world, which brought great pride to us all. I cannot not believe that I am saying this, but the event you produced was watched by more people than watched the final of the World Cup, the most viewed sporting event in the world. It’s almost beyond belief.”

He also stressed that there is no democracy without public broadcasting: “Public broadcasting must not be removed from the public agenda and forgotten by it. This is broadcasting by citizens and for citizens. Your impressive achievements, each person doing his own job, shows tremendous capabilities in the field of television. It is a huge achievement for your profession, and which the State of Israel is blessed to have at its disposal.”

Eldad Koblenz, CEO of the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation, said: “Together, the management, the public council and the private market succeeded in creating an event that broke the mold at all levels – production, technological and program. Each frame was carefully thought through and worked on for hours. Over 5,000 Israelis worked in this production and we insisted that all the key employees be Israelis. We are here to celebrate the achievements of the Eurovision Song Contest, but we also must say something about the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation. IPBC was able to prove a few things within two years. First of all, it is possible to make reforms and improve service to the citizen, and we have only just started. Within three years, I promise that we will be the best content provider in Israel, belonging to Israeli citizens and working for them.”

Chairman of the IPBC Board, Gil Omer: “I would like to thank the president for the event itself happening. The Eurovision Song Contest, held in Israel, is a badge of honor for the State of Israel and for IPBC that got such a huge production off the ground just two years after its establishment. This was a display of its abilities, its excellence, its ability to see the different and the other by making the show accessible to different populations. It is, more than anything, evidence of the huge potential of the corporation, which proves itself in unprecedented ratings, which I have no doubt will continue to grow. Public broadcasting is a cornerstone of every democracy and must be guarded jealously, and I am hopeful that this will be the case.”

Netanyahu Could Block Visit by Anti-Israel Lawmakers Omar and Tlaib

The prime minister reportedly has authority to bar congresswomen Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib from entering Israel based on their support for boycotts of the Jewish state.

By: WIN Staff

While Democratic Congresswomen Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib recently announced they are planning to visit Israel in the near future, their entry to the Jewish state could be blocked due to their support for boycotts of it.

According to a report earlier in the week by Haaretz, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has authority to block their entry.

While Israeli law dictates that entry can be denied to pro-boycott individuals, the Foreign Ministry can also recommend waivers to the Strategic Affairs Ministry and the Interior Ministry to facilitate entry when barring individuals would negatively impact Israel’s diplomatic efforts.

According to the Haaretz report, Netanyahu will be tasked with making the decision related to Omar and Tlaib based on the “possible ramifications on Israel-U.S. relations” of the congresswomen’s visit.

Meanwhile, Omar recently spoke with Al-Monitor about an anti-Israel pro-boycott resolution she plans to introduce in the House of Representatives.

“We are introducing a resolution … to really speak about the American values that support and believe in our ability to exercise our First Amendment rights in regard to boycotting. And it is an opportunity for us to explain why it is we support … the BDS movement,” said Omar.

On Wednesday Omar told Jewish Insider that she will be going to Israel in a few weeks.

“I am going in a couple of weeks and so I’ll learn more,” Omar told the outlet. “But truly, everything that I hear points to both sides feeling like there is still an occupation.”

Since entering Congress in January, Omar has made multiple remarks that have resulted in charges of anti-Semitism and anti-Israel bias.

In a July 17 interview with “CBS This Morning,” Omar expressed no regrets for those remarks.

“Often times there are things that you might say might not hold weight for you, but to someone else, the way that we hear and consume information is very different than how the next person might,” said Omar.

“So, you don’t regret your words either?” asked co-host Gayle King.

“I do not, but I have gotten the—I’m grateful for the opportunity to really learn how my words made people feel and have taken every single opportunity I’ve gotten to make sure that people understood that I apologize for it,” replied Omar.

When asked by King if she would “like to make that clear” she isn’t anti-Semitic, Omar said, “Oh, certainly not.”

“Yes, nothing I said, at least to me, was meant for that purpose,” she added. (World Israel News)

French Judge Claims Killer of Jewish Woman Not Guilty Because He Smoked Pot

French Jewish community leaders lament a preliminary court decision blaming drugs for a man’s brutal actions, noting with even more disappointment that they are not surprised

By: Eliana Rudee

One day before making aliyah to Israel from France, Jewish community leader Simon Midal expressed his concern that France’s preliminary court decision to dismiss the murderer of French Jew Sarah Halimi applied an anti-Semitic double standard.

On the Friday prior, French judges in charge of the preliminary investigation into the murder of the 65-year-old widow and former teacher by her Muslim neighbor Kobili Traore, ruled that the 27-year old man from Mali could not be held criminally responsible for the murder of Halimi because he had smoked marijuana hours before he violently beat her and tossed her from the third-floor window on April 4, 2017.

Two of the three independent psychiatric experts commissioned by the investigation said that marijuana nullified the man’s judgment and therefore his criminal responsibility. The third judge expressed a partial abolition of culpability.

“Very often when there is a Jewish person, the courts rule that the aggressor was not an Islamic person [with anti-Semitic motives], but a crazy person,” Midal told JNS. “I think that if the person killed were not a Jew, the courts wouldn’t have come to the same conclusion. It’s clear that the French court didn’t want to say it was anti-Semitism,” he said.

As Traore beat Halimi, noted Midal, he was heard screaming, “Allahu Akhbar” and “Shaitan” (Arabic for “Satan”). Several weeks beforehand, Traore had called Halimi’s daughter a “dirty Jewess” as they crossed paths in their building elevator in the 11th arrondissement (district) of Paris.

Although Midal acknowledged that he “can’t say for sure” whether the courts were applying a double standard to the case because Halimi was Jewish, he believes that either way, the case could set a dangerous precedent of excusing or even encouraging criminals who are under the influence of drugs.

Francis Kalifat, president of CRIF—the official representative body of French Jews, with whom the government consults regarding issues of anti-Semitism—called the view of the French court “shocking” and “contradictory.” He noted that in driving incidents, the influence of drugs is viewed an aggravating factor, while in this case, the courts view drug use as a factor that “diminished responsibility of the murderer, deeming him not responsible for his act.”

“We know that the murderer has been in prison several times, never for anti-Semitic attacks, but in those cases, never had a judge mentioned his use of cannabis,” said Kalifat. “The killing was organized, and the killer knew the victim and was conscious, and even shouted his intent to throw Halimi out of the window.”

Even so, Kalifat maintained, the court’s decision did not come as a surprise, noting that in the murder of Sebastien Sellam, who was killed in 2003 in a parking lot by his Muslim neighbor, “psychiatric expertise similarly determined he was not conscious at the time of killing.” At the time, he said, the French Jewish community trusted the judgment and expertise of the courts.

“It took us a long time to realize that this was the first anti-Semitic attack in France since the Holocaust,” he said.

In light of what he called a “catastrophic” situation in France growing “every day,” Midal and his wife, Alice, both children of French Holocaust survivors who fled to Switzerland during the Second World War, immigrated to Israel on Wednesday to become citizens with 80 other French Jews.

As a prominent leader in various roles within the Jewish community in Paris, including B’nai B’rith, the European Jewish Congress, the Representative Council of French Jewish Institutions and Licra (an organization working to fight anti-Semitism and racism), Midal maintained that his participation in the Jewish community has “put me in connection with the reality on the ground.”

He concludes from his experiences that most French Jews of his generation who make aliyah do so “more because of the situation of Jews in France, rather than an ideology.”

While noting that French laws exist to fight anti-Semitism and racism, Midal maintained that no such enforcement or effective sanctions are in place to secure the lives and freedom of French Jews.

Similarly, Kalifat noted the disproportionate number of attacks against Jews in France.

“While Jews make up less than 1 percent of the population of France, anti-Semitic attacks represent 50 percent of all racist aggression, with 12 people killed since 2012 because they were Jewish,” he said, calling on the authorities “to ensure the security of the French people wherever they are.” (JNS.org)
