Jaguar Land Rover of Freeport has been bringing high-end SUV’s back to the South Shore in a major way. Two years ago, Jaguar Freeport and Land Rover of Freeport became one of the first in the country to feature the new conceptual design created exclusively for the Jaguar and Land Rover brands. At over 30,000 square feet, their high end, cutting edge dealership layout features a 15 car showroom, a 22 bay service department with 3 lane service drive up area and will create jobs for at least 50 additional employees. To make your luxury experience complete, they offer clients who lease or have purchased a vehicle from them the convenience of complimentary pick up and delivery for scheduled maintenance as well as an all Jaguar and Land Rover loaner fleet.

At the helm of this grand undertaking is Jack Weidinger, Dealer Principal of Jaguar Freeport, Land Rover Freeport and North Bay Cadillac Buick and GMC. No stranger to the industry, Weidinger remains as excited today about all the prospects that a dealership of this magnitude will bring to the South Shore’s economy as he was in 2016.

“Land Rover has not been on the South Shore since 2009,” says Weidinger. “This development brings the Land Rover brand back to the South Shore with an extremely high-end design and our reputation for business excellence and customer support.”

As a third-generation dealer principal with over 20 years personal experience, Jack knows that he has a lot to live up to with a family heritage of over 80 years in business.

“When we opened our original Jaguar dealership in 1999, there wasn’t a lot of development in our area. Since then, many businesses opened in the surrounding properties and I hope we had something to do with that. Since the addition of the Land Rover brand, we have had the same level of success that we have always enjoyed and this leads to further development in the Freeport area. The Jaguar and Land Rover brands are stronger than ever because consumers really value the combination of style, performance and practicality that Jaguar and Land Rover provides. My team and I are thrilled with the results!”

The site of the new Jaguar Land Rover Freeport dealership is located at 146 Sunrise Highway, Freeport, NY.

About Jaguar and Land Rover of Freeport:

The Weidinger Auto Group started with Jaguar in 1938 and grew to what includes today: Land Rover Freeport, Jaguar Freeport, North Bay Cadillac Buick GMC, Vantage Auto Body, the Pre-Owned Center and multiple service locations throughout the North and South Shores of Long Island.

NYC Councilman Kalman Yeger Blasts Media & Politicos For Increased Anti-Semitism

Assigning blame for the precipitous rise in anti-Semitism throughout the city of New York on the media and various politicos, Brooklyn Councilman Kalman Yeger on Wednesday let both groups have it with both barrels in a strongly worded speech in the council chamber.

Yeger said that both the media and elected officials tend to embolden the scourge of anti-Semitism by creating negative stereotypes of Jews and creating a palpable fear and mistrust of those in his community.

Concerning the “No Hate, No Fear” solidarity march on January 5th, that the UJA-Federation of NY and other establishment groups helped to organize and support, Yeger said that some who attended “spend the other 364 days of the year festering hate against my community.”

In his powerful and damning address, Yeger added, “For far too long, too many who hold public office, and those who portend themselves to be members of the media, have tinkered at the fringes of anti-Semitism. You market an “us vs. them” message against Orthodox Jews. You did this.

When you deliberately paint a portrait of Orthodox Jews as backwards members of society, who don’t vote how you like, don’t do what you want, don’t educate our children how you wish, you did this.”

Pointing to the hypocrisy of certain elected officials and their questionable agendas, Yeger criticized those who have said that the problem at hand was tolerance.

He said that “The notion that a “lack of tolerance” is at issue, as if Orthodox Jews are so heinous that our presence in society is something to be tolerated, is grotesque.

We have the right to live in our city like anyone else. We have the right to go about our day without being assaulted. We’re not doing this to anyone. You’re doing this to us.”

He continued: “You attack our yeshivas regularly, repeatedly, with hatred. But whenever has anyone seen a group of yeshiva students run down a street and smack someone in the head? Why is that never discussed – how we raise our children to be honorable, intellectual, decent members of society, how we are kind to one another?

You paint us all with a scarlet letter of derision. You did this to us.

Those of you who did this know who you are, and you’ve done this, and it’s you’re responsibility to stop it. And I’m asking you all not just to show up one day a year and take a couple of pictures. But do this for the other 364 days that you stand up and you hurt our community with your words, with your acts, with divide-and-conquer politics, with the things that are not necessary in this city, just because you don’t like how we think, or you don’t like how we dress, or you don’t like how educate our children. Leave us alone and let us be part of this city, without you festering hate on us.”

Yeger didn’t name any specific names, but he urged those who have promulgated divisive rhetoric against Jews to show solidarity with the Jewish community for 365 days a year, not just one day at a march.

550 Madison Ave in Midtown East to Get New Public Garden

Public gardens have become a ubiquitous sight around the Big Apple for a number of years and a brand new one is slated for Midtown East. According to a report on the YIMBY web site, this week, the City Planning Commission approved 550 Madison Avenue‘s Snøhetta-designed gardens. The public space surrounding the office tower will measure 21,000 square feet and include a café, elevated and ground-level landscaping, expanded seating, additional tables, and public bathrooms.

Behind this project is The Olayan Group which represents one third of the development team behind the skyscraper’s renovation, according to the Yimby report. The greenery for the garden will include evergreens, perennials, and flowering shrubs, according to the Yimby report and has been inspired by Northeastern-native fauna. A slanted glass roof will partially enclose the new garden.

“We’re thrilled to be a part of re-envisioning the future of this historic site, by imagining a precedent for New York’s changing demands on privately owned public spaces,” said Michelle Delk, partner and director of landscape architecture at Snøhetta. “A contrast to the urbanity of midtown, this new garden complements the adjacent tower while drawing upon the vibrancy of the neighborhood and the natural history of the region, offering visitors an immersive respite in the city.”

The renderings of the new lobby area of the iconic Manhattan tower have revealed that they were designed by Gensler. According to the Yimby report, the lobby will include terrazzo flooring, bronze-hued mullions, triple-height ceilings and multi-story arched windows.

Yimby has reported that the fully completed project is expected to debut this year with anticipated LEED Platinum certification. The other two thirds of the development team include RXR Realty and Chelsfield.

“Philip Johnson and John Burgee’s vision for 550 Madison was to create not only a one-of-a-kind commercial tower but deliver public open space to Midtown East,” said Erik Horvat, managing director of real estate at Olayan America.

“Working with Snøhetta, we have created an incredible new public garden that will bring much-needed green space and further improve the vitality of Midtown East. I want to thank the Department of City Planning, Community Board 5, and the Landmarks Preservation Commission for their partnership and collaboration on creating what will become a great amenity to the local community and our world-class office tenants.”

Security Flaw Found in Chinese Based TikTok; Hackers Get Into Accounts

TikTok, the hot Chinese video sharing app, is – to no one’s surprise — letting lots of information slip through to the outside, says a new report.

Check Point Research, the Threat Intelligence arm of Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. a leading provider of cyber security solutions globally based in San Carlos, CA, said it has uncovered multiple vulnerabilities in TikTok that could have allowed attacks to manipulate content on user accounts and even extract confidential personal information saved on these accounts.

Available in over 150 markets, used in 75 languages globally, and with over 1 billion users, TikTok is definitely one of the most downloaded apps around. As of October 2019, TikTok is the most downloaded app in the United States, making it the first Chinese app to have achieved such a record.

“TikTok is used mainly by teenagers and kids that use this app to share, save and keep private (and sometimes very sensitive) videos of themselves and their loved ones. The research found that an attacker could send a spoofed SMS message to a user containing a malicious link. When the user clicked on the malicious link, the attacker was able to get a hold of the TikTok account and manipulate its content by deleting videos, uploading unauthorized videos, and making private or “hidden” videos public,” the company said in a press release.

The research also found that Tiktok’s subdomain https://ads.tiktok.com was vulnerable to XSS attacks, a type of attack in which malicious scripts are injected into otherwise benign and trusted websites, the release noted. “Check Point researchers leveraged this vulnerability to retrieve personal information saved on user accounts including private email addresses and birthdates, the firm said. Check Point Research informed TikTok developers of the vulnerabilities exposed in this research and a fix was responsibly deployed to ensure its users can safely continue using the TikTok app.”

“Data is pervasive but data breaches are becoming an epidemic, and our latest research shows that the most popular apps are still at risk,” said Oded Vanunu, Check Point’s Head of Product Vulnerability Research. “Social media applications are highly targeted for vulnerabilities as they provide a good source for private data and offer a good attack surface gate. Malicious actors are spending large amounts of money and putting in great effort to penetrate into such huge applications. Yet most users are under the assumption that they are protected by the app they are using.”

Luke Deshotels, PhD, TikTok Security Team, said that “TikTok is committed to protecting user data. Like many organizations, we encourage responsible security researchers to privately disclose zero day vulnerabilities to us. Before public disclosure, CheckPoint agreed that all reported issues were patched in the latest version of our app. We hope that this successful resolution will encourage future collaboration with security researchers.”

Bloomberg Willing to Spend $1B to Defeat Trump in 2020

Former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg is spending a record amount of his own money in his bid for presidency.

As reported by Reuters, the Democratic candidate said he is ready to spend much of his vast wealth to oust Republican President Donald Trump from the White House in 2020. “Number one priority is to get rid of Donald Trump. I’m spending all my money to get rid of Trump,” said Bloomberg on Saturday while on his campaign bus across Texas, which one of the 14 states that will vote on Super Tuesday on March 3rd. “Do you want me to spend more or less? End of story.”

The NY Post even reported that ad rates for television spots across the country are up because of Bloomberg’s spending spree. “The typical [TV] market increased their rates by 22 percent as the political spending poured in,” an Advertising Analytics analysis reported. “Houston was among the markets that responded most actively to the new advertiser,” it added. “This is partially attributable to Bloomberg’s $1 [million] buy increasing the political spending in the market tenfold. This shock spending increase was matched by a 45% increase in rates, which is among the highest of any market.”

Bloomberg was the last to enter the race, missing the first six Democratic debates, but he jumped in with a $37-million TV advertising blitz. Since he launched his campaign in the last week of November, Bloomberg has already spent more on campaign ads than any of the other Democratic candidates have over the whole last year. Bloomberg is facing criticism from other Democratic candidates, who claim the billionaire is trying to buy the presidential election. U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren, one of the leading Democratic rivals whose motto has been get money out of politics, is one of his main critics. Bloomberg has brushed off this critic saying, “These are just political things they say, hoping they catch on and they don’t like me doing it, because it competes with them, not because it’s bad policy.”

Forbes has named Bloomberg as the eighth-richest person in the U.S., and the 14th- richest in the world, with an estimated net worth of $58 billion. The CEO of his namesake media empire, he is a philanthropist who has signed The Giving Pledge, in which he has vowed to donate at least half of his wealth. Bloomberg has already given away $8.2 billion.

As per Reuters, Bloomberg is generally ranked fifth in national public opinion polls, with Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Warren and Pete Buttigieg all ahead of him. But the 77-year-old is not intimidated. He says all four of those Democratic candidates are too liberal to beat Trump. “One of the reasons I’m reasonably confident I could beat Trump is I would be acceptable to the moderate Republicans you have to have,” said Bloomberg.

NY Mayoral Underdog Capitalizes on Stringer’s Rejection of Real Estate $$$

Loree Sutton, underdog in NYC’s 2021 mayoral race, is in the news trying to capitalize on her fellow candidates’ recent rejection of the real estate industry.

As reported by Crain’s NY, after New York City Comptroller, Scott Stringer shunned developer and landlord money, Sutton stepped up to say she wouldn’t turn away real Estate funds for her campaign. The retired Army general and former city veteran’s commissioner under Mayor Bill de Blasio, has become the third female mayoral contender. On Friday, Sutton seized the opportunity to criticize her fellow candidates for snubbing the real estate industry.

“Shunning an entire industry that helps our City run is the wrong approach. To all in the Real Estate Industry that @scottmstringer is throwing off his team, I welcome you to join ours–because we’re all in this together!,” Sutton tweeted on Friday. “There are bad actors in every line of work. But there are also good ones who are willing to work collaboratively to move our City forward. To write off an entire industry is a mistake. And I won’t do it as a candidate or as the next Mayor,” she added in a separate tweet.

On Thursday, City Comptroller Scott Stringer had announced that he would not accept more contributions from developers and landlords. Of course, he has already amassed close to $1 million from the Big Apple’s largest landlords. As per the NY Post, Stringer said nothing about the money he has already received, and was prompted to make the statement after his rival candidate City Council Speaker Corey Johnson said he wouldn’t take real estate contributions. A source told the Post that Stringer felt Corey’s position was hurting him and so he jumped on the bandwagon. Many progressives believe too many politicians bow to the interests of the big real estate players over that of their constituents because of their hefty campaign donations. They also fault big developers and property owners for making the city unaffordable.

Sutton, 60, a former brigadier general, was the founding director of the Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury (DCoE) and also served as special assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs. The former Army psychiatrist is openly gay, and asked her wife, Laurie Leitch, to marry her at the 2015 pride parade in NYC.

Sutton is considered a long shot in the crowded 110th mayoral race, with top candidates including well-known figures including Johnson, Stringer, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, and Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. The 2021 mayoral campaign also includes two other female candidates. They are Dianne Morales, who heads the non-profit Phipps Neighborhoods, and Jocelyn Taylor who runs the contracting company and uses the motto, “What matters to you, matters to me”.

“I am committed to creating a vibrant and livable New York City community that works for all of us, grounded on the four core values of equity, health, prosperity, and sustainability,” said Sutton.

The planned 21-story tower at One Boerum Place in Downtown Brooklyn is close to topping out. The triangular shaped parcel of land situated atop Borough Hall Station, is starting to rise up above the masses. The project site, which is flanked by Boerum Place, Red Hook Lane, and Fulton Street, is being developed in partnership by Avery Hall Investments, Allegra Holdings, and Aria Development Group. They have tapped SLCE Architects to design the e mixed-use condominium building. One Boerum Place is slated for completion sometime within the first quarter of 2021.

As reported by NY Yimby, construction on the superstructure is rising rapidly and has surpassed the south-side setback. There are less than five floors left in the exterior’s construction to build, which should take another few weeks. They broke ground, starting construction in March 2019. The project’s total cost is being approximated at roughly $250 million. The partners have landed a construction loan for the amount of $165 million from Jutland Finance.

Back in December 2016, the group of investors, led by Avery Hall, purchased development site for $76.5 million from Brooklyn Law School. The block-front property was coupled with 50,000 square feet of air rights from nearby sites. When it’s ready, the building will span a total of 240,000 gross square feet.

Once completed, Boerum Place will offer close to 22,000 square feet of retail space at the base, as well as 183,000 square feet of residential space. There will be a total of 122 residential units, which will include one-, two-, and three-bedroom options. The building will boast a two-story fitness center, swimming pool, sauna, entertainment lounge, children’s playroom, and a landscaped rooftop deck with an outdoor kitchen and seating area. It will also feature a 24/7 doorman and concierge service, a parking garage, and storage room. The building’s location adjacent to the Brooklyn Bridge, will afford it best-in-class views of the Big Apple’s skyline. Situated at the nexus of Cadman Plaza and the Fulton Mall, it will be a shoppers paradise. It will also be an easy commute with 8 subway lines just one minute away.

“Given that One Boerum is the gateway to the Fulton Mall, the highest and best use for the site is a retail and residential development – strategically, it just made sense,” Savills Studley’s David Carlos, who represented Brooklyn Law in the property sale, had said.

Israelis Share Know-How on Saving Lives of Hemorrhaging Patients

Israeli emergency medicine specialists held a special event this week during which they shared their unique knowledge on saving the lives of hemorrhaging patients with medical officials from around the world.

The Magen David Adom’s (MDA) Blood Services and the IDF Medical Corps held an international seminar in Herzliya on Sunday on the challenges of treating the complex hemorrhaging patient.

The leadership of the Trauma Hemostasis and Oxygenation Research (THOR) Network, a world leader in hemorrhage control which concentrates on providing treatment in civilian and military settings, attended the seminar, as well as military and civilian physicians and surgeons from around the world.

The seminar was headed by Deputy Director-General of Blood Services Prof. Eilat Shinar and IDF Lt. Col. Alon Glasburg.

“Death by hemorrhage is the main cause of death in trauma cases”, Shinar explained. “A patient can be saved from massive hemorrhaging by initiating treatment as soon after the injury as possible.”

MDA, the IDF Medical Corps and leading researchers have developed unique procedures to contend with this life-threatening situation.

Both military and civilian paramedics have dried plasma in stock, a blood product that contains clotting factors. The product is dried into a powder that can be stored in extreme temperatures and be given to patients in the field by dissolving it in water to improve the patient’s outcome.

In addition, the IDF and MDA use whole blood in the military med-evac helicopters.

MDA Director-General Eli Bin stated that “MDA’s Blood Services use some of the most advanced technologies and are of the most advanced in the world” and “constantly works to improve the medical treatment provided in the field to both civilians and military personnel.”

The seminar was held as part of the 6th Conference on International Preparedness and Response to Emergencies and Disasters, hosted by the Israeli Ministry of Health and the IDF’s Home Front Command.

Participants from 30 countries attended the conference.

Israel is a world leader in emergency response and medicine, with much of its knowledge accumulated through the treating of mass terror attacks and wounded IDF soldiers.

Terrorist-Defending Atty on Military Court Committee Sparks Rage

Lea Tsemel, an Israeli lawyer famous for defending and supporting terrorists, was once again voted to head the Bar Association’s Military Tribunal committee, sparking rage among terrorism victims and right-wing politicians.

The Bar Association announced Sunday that it has once again appointed Tsemel as chairman of the Military Tribunal committee, after her eight years of service in this role.

Tsemel represented a long list of terrorists, including those involved in the 2000 lynching in Ramallah of two IDF soldiers, Hamas terrorists deported to Lebanon, PLO supporters, as well as Israeli Member of Knesset Basel Ghatas who was convicted of smuggling phones to security prisoners.

Tsemel currently represents Arafat Arfaiya who murdered 19-year-old Ori Ansbacher last year.

The Choosing Life Forum of bereaved families and victims of terrorism accused the Bar Association of “detachment” and “helplessness.”

“This is a spit in the faces of thousands of Israelis who have been murdered over the years by depraved terrorists and as the devil’s advocate Tsemel defended several of them,” the Forum stated.

“This is an unparalleled disgrace,” the Forum said, telling Bar Association head Avi Himmi, “our dear ones’ blood is crying out from the earth.”

The right-wing Otzmah Yehudit party said the Bar Association’s “unfortunate decision” is “a finger in the eye for thousands of families who lost their loved ones who were killed for being Jewish.”

“Of all the lawyers involved in the military courts trying terrorists, the Bar Association chose to appoint the largest terrorist supporter, Leah Tsemel, to chair the committee,” Otzmah Yehudit said.

“Tsemel is the most explicit symbol of betrayal and loss of a moral direction through the unending protection she provides for the worst of Israel’s enemies,” it added.

The Be’tsalmo human rights organization stated that “it is very unfortunate that the Bar Association chose to appoint someone so extreme that even High Court of Justice judges ruled that she is dangerous to the state, for such a sensitive role.”

This decision “joins the appointment of Meretz’s Gabi Laski’ as chairman of the Human Rights Committee. It is evident that someone at the Bar has forgotten that the bureau’s role is state-wide for the entire Bar and not a certain left-wing segment.”

An Israeli film about Tsemel in December made the shortlist for an Academy Award nomination in the Best Documentary Feature category, sparking rage in Israel.

The film “Advocate,” directed by Rachel Leah Jones and Philippe Bellaiche, follows Tsemel as she provides legal assistance to defendants, most of whom were subsequently convicted with terrorism.

The film received harsh criticism in Israel for its positive portrayal of Tsemel as a human rights activist, despite her actions to defend terrorists.

Court Orders Terrorists to Compensate Israeli Victims After Attacking Them with Fireworks

The Jerusalem District Court on Monday ordered two terrorists who launched fireworks directly at an Israeli family’s home in the Old City of Jerusalem to compensate the family members for NIS 305,000 and pay the attorney’s fees of NIS 40,000.

This ruling is the result of a civil lawsuit filed by the family after the terrorists were convicted in a criminal proceeding.

The attack occurred about a year ago during the night while the mother of the family, her married daughter, the daughter’s husband and their baby daughter, who at the time of the attack was only eight days old, were in the house.

This family has already lost a member in a terror attack in Jerusalem a few years ago.

The lawsuit describes how at about 10 pm the attackers gathered on the roof of a school near the family home, equipped with gloves and fireworks. They began firing fireworks at the family home which “exploded with a mighty bang.”

The mother, who was in the yard, rush into the house, and the assault lasted for several minutes. The terrorists aimed the fireworks directly at the home, its windows, the home yard as well as at the security cameras on the premises.

According to the lawsuit, there were no bodily injuries but the victims felt under attack for all intents and purposes, experienced a sense of dread and real danger, this while the family came to the place to rest after the birth of the baby daughter, who woke hysterically to the sound of explosions.

Although some of the attackers were convicted in a criminal proceeding and were sentenced to imprisonment and fines, the court did not order them to compensate the family.

The lawsuit stated that for attempted assault under aggravated circumstances, malicious damage and reckless and negligent conduct, the terrorists must compensate family members for a total of NIS 305,000.

The verdict was given against two of the attackers, while the procedure against two other attackers has yet to go underway.

Haim Blicher, a lawyer with the Honenu legal rights organization who represented the family, stated that “we will continue to work to exact a high price from any terrorist or perpetrator whose goal is to undermine our right to live here in the State of Israel.”

The objective is to convey “a clear message that harming the Jews will never again be worthwhile,” he added.

Israel Successfully Upgrades Iron Dome Defense System

By: Aryeh Savir

Israel has successfully upgraded its Iron Dome defense system a decade after the system was first successfully tested, the Ministry of Defense stated Sunday.

“The success of the series is an important milestone in Israel’s operational ability to defend itself against existing and future threats in the arena,” MoD stated.

“In the series of experiments, the system’s capabilities were tested in a new and advanced development, in a number of scenarios, which simulate future threats that the system may face during a confrontation,” the statement added.

The nature of the upgrade was not specified, but it may relate to Hamas’ latest challenge to the system in the form of saturated rocket fire.

The Hamas and Islamic Jihad terror groups carried out a 60-hour attack on Israel in May, during which they fired some 700 rockets at Israeli cities and towns.

Hamas has bragged that its new launching capabilities “can embarrass and challenge the Iron Dome system and maintain the constant fire for 30 hours.”

The terror organization further claimed that its saturated firing methods have overpowered the Iron Dome’s capability to intercept their rockets.

“The Qassam Brigades’ rate of fire in the last round of hostilities was the highest in the history of the confrontation with occupation,” a Hamas official said, noting that the group simultaneously launched 56 rockets towards Ashdod and another 60 towards Ashkelon and Be’er Sheva.

Hamas further announced it will attempt to target the Iron Dome batteries in the next round of violence.

The Iron Dome is a key component of Israel’s multilayered defense system. The air defense system has a very high success rate and proved its day-to-day operational efficiency in protecting the residents of the country.

To date, the system has performed more than 2,400 successful operational intercepts with about a 90% success rate.

Israel over the years has developed a multi-layered defense system to contend with the ever-evolving ballistic projectile threats from Iran, the Gaza Strip and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

The defense system is based on four operational layers: the Iron Dome Defense System for close-range projectiles, David’s Sling Weapon System designed to contend with mid-range missiles, the Arrow-2, and the Arrow-3, for long-range missiles.

Analysis: Has the Lebanese Army Joined Hezbollah in Fighting Israel?

Israeli forces stationed on the northern border with Lebanon are on high alert following mounting tensions in the Middle East, and specifically the showdown between the US and Iran.

The US’ assassination of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani and the subsequent Iranian attack on US bases in Iraq has Israel expecting a possible reprisal attack from Iran, and possibly through its proxy, the Hezbollah terror organization.

Hezbollah, with its massive stockpile of rockets and missiles, poses a formable challenge to the IDF and Israel’s security. However, new research suggests that the threat emanating from Lebanon may be more significant than that.

The Israeli Alma Research and Education Center, which closely monitors Lebanon, has issued a report in which it noted that there has been a significant rise in the number of Shiites serving in the Lebanese Army (LAF) in recent years, which may lead to it becoming a proxy of the Shiite Hezbollah terror organization.

LAF and Hezbollah conduct joint patrols, the terror organization periodically uses LAF army uniforms to disguise its activities, and the LAF enables the deployment of the organization’s military infrastructure along the border.

Family ties between Hezbollah operatives and LAF troops also increased the potential for the LAF becoming a Hezbollah proxy and joining its offensive operations against Israel, Alma warned in its paper.

Therefore, Alma says that the LAF cannot be viewed as an independently acting force detached from Hezbollah’s objective to destroy Israel.

In February 2017, Lebanese President Michel Aun stated that Lebanon, the LAF and Hezbollah are all part of one alliance directed against Israel.

Alma pointed to several events taking place along the border in recent years that indicate circumstantial links between Hezbollah’s interests and actual attacks carried out by the LAF against Israel.

For example, a LAF sniper in August 2010 shot at IDF forces who were on the Israeli side of the border near the Lebanese village of Adisa, killing an IDF Battalion Commander and seriously wounding a Company Commander. In response, two Lebanese soldiers were killed as part of the Israeli retaliation.

Alma estimate that the planned shooting was executed according to an explicit directive from a local Company Commander in the LAF.

“It is difficult to explain these events unless we presume that Hezbollah initiates them or at the very least, that these events demonstrate the willingness of the LAF to assist Hezbollah,” the authors Tal Beeri and Sarit Zehavi said.

In Alma’s assessment, the LAF will “take an increasingly active part in any future war against Israel.”

The US Aid Problem

The US aid has been providing the LAF with military aid, which may be deployed in southern Lebanon, and it is logical to assume that “such aid is likely to be used against Israel in any future war,” Alma warns.

The US thinks that by providing massive aid to the LAF it is promoting an alternative to Hezbollah, in the hope that it will fill the void after the terror organization is defeated. However, it appears that the US military aid has not made the LAF any stronger and has not weakened Hezbollah either.

The US has imposed wide-ranging sanctions against Hezbollah since 2017 while simultaneously providing aid to the LAF, even after Israel protested the move. However, it is becoming increasingly difficult for the US to balance these two positions, Alma believes.

Israel resumed the supply of cooking gas to the Gaza Strip through the Kerem Shalom crossing after a few days during which there was a severe shortage of gas in the Strip.

Egypt raised the prices of gas and there were technical difficulties in supplying gas from Israel, resulting in Gazan residents suffering from a severe cooking gas shortage that prompted worries that the deficiency would cause the closing of bakeries within a few days.

The Egyptians raised the price of gas by NIS 7 per balloon and put it at NIS 61, an 11% increase, and therefore Gazan importers stopped buying it. Samir Hamada, head of the gas committee of the Gaza fuel companies association, admitted that the gas was running out at all supply stations and warned of “a major fuel crisis.”

A Gaza official told TPS that the supply from Israel had decreased over the past year mainly because of the reduction in the number of Israeli suppliers after the gas industry in Gaza switched to Egyptian suppliers and developed a dependency on imports from Egypt.

Owners of the gas distribution stations said that Hamas has instructed them not to comment on the matter “with the intention of blurring the fact that there is a gas shortage,” but the Hamas government has denied the existence of a gas supply crisis.

Ministry of Economy spokesman Abdel Fattah Musa told local media that talk about a shortage were rumors and that gas supplies were available.

Hamas also warned the station owners not to take advantage of the winter and create an artificial shortage to raise prices or create a monopoly.

In the meantime, stormy weather in the Gaza Strip caused dozens of houses to be flooded with rain and sewage, mainly in the Jabalya area, where 12 houses collapsed.

Swimming enthusiasts organized a demonstration of sympathy with the families whose homes were flooded and demanded that Hamas work to find a solution for the dilapidated infrastructure.

Social activists also demanded that UNRWA compensate the families.

Hamas on Sunday accused Israel of opening its dams and flooding 100 dunams of agricultural crops, an allegation it repeats on an annual basis.

Laser-Based Missile Interception System Unveiled by Israel

Edited by: TJVNews.com

The Directorate of Defense Research and Development (DDR&D), at the Israel Ministry of Defense revealed that a technological breakthrough has been achieved in the development of lasers for the interception of RAM (rocket, mortar, and artillery) threats, UAVs, and ATGMs, according to a report on the Israel National News web site.

Head of the Directorate of Research and Development in the DDR&D, Brig. Gen. Yaniv Rotem stated: “We are entering a new age of energy warfare in the air, land and sea. The R&D investments made by the DDR&D in the last years have placed the State of Israel among the leading countries in the field of high-energy laser systems. Throughout the year 2020 we will conduct a demo of our capabilities.”

“In the future, we would also like to see it airborne on aircraft and even use it as an offensive weapon,” Rotem said.

According to Israel’s Channel 13, the technological development will enable the long-range targeting and stabilization of laser beams, allowing them to intercept targets at great distances, as was reported by Algemeiner.

Ha’Aretz reported that the breakthrough in the Israeli effort came about a year and a half ago, when the Israeli developers created technology to focus and stabilize the laser beams over distances (and overcoming atmospheric disturbances). That led to the development of effective interception technology capable of providing a new layer of defense for Israel on land, at sea and in the air.

The goal is to use the laser-based system against Qassam rockets, such as those that have been fired into Israel from the Gaza Strip, as well as against mortar shells, anti-tank missiles and drones, according to a report on the Ha’aretz web site.

Laser-based interception is silent and invisible, and the cost is less than 10 shekels (about $3.50) per interception, in contrast with Iron Dome, which costs about 170,000 shekels ($49,000) per interception and makes noise on launch.

Today the DDR&D in the Israel Ministry of Defense revealed its investment in laser technology, which has led to the technological breakthrough that will enable the development of platforms to intercept a variety of threats. Based on high-energy lasers, this technology will prompt a strategic change in the defense capabilities of the State of Israel.

As a result of the aforementioned technological breakthrough, the DDR&D has launched three programs for the development of high-energy laser demo systems in cooperation with defense industries, Rafael and Elbit Systems:

  • · Development of a demo ground-based laser system to complement the capabilities of the Iron Dome (an additional layer to the air defense array)
  • · Development of a maneuver platform-mounted laser system to defend troops in the field
  • · Development of a laser demo system mounted on an air platform to intercept threats above cloud covers and for the defense of wide areas

Algemeiner reported that Defense Minister Naftali Bennett commented, “The Israeli brain continues to lead to breakthrough innovations. The laser project will make our defense system more deadly, powerful, and advanced.”

“This is a significant advance in strengthening the security of the State of Israel,” he added. “Alongside the existing weapons of war, we have added a laser sword against our enemies in the north and south.”

The only laser-based military system that has been deployed anywhere in the world is one used on American ships, but it is only effective on relatively easy targets, such as rubber dinghies, and at short ranges, according to the Ha’aretz report.

Netanyahu Applauds US’ Targeting of Iran’s Metals Industry & Regime Officials

By: Aryeh Savir

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu applauded the US, announcement that it is imposing new sanctions on Iran and called on the United Kingdom, Germany and France to join the US effort and reimpose sanctions on the Islamic Republic.

The three countries are signatories of the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran, which the Trump administration has withdrawn from.

The US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced Friday that it was sanctioning eight senior Iranian regime officials who “have advanced the regime’s destabilizing objectives,” as well as the largest steel, aluminum, copper, and iron manufacturers in Iran, who collectively generate billions of dollars annually.

The eight officials include Ali Shamkhani, the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council; Mohammad Reza Ashtiani, the Deputy Chief of Staff of Iranian armed forces; and Gholamreza Soleimani, the head of the Basij militia of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC).

The 17 Iranian metals producers and mining companies include a network of three China and Seychelles-based entities, and a vessel involved in the purchase, sale, and transfer of Iranian metals products, as well as in the provision of critical metals production components to Iranian metal producers.

The sanctions target Iran’s sources of revenue used to fund and support its nuclear program, missile development, terrorism and terrorist proxy networks, and “malign regional influence.”

“The United States is targeting senior Iranian officials for their involvement and complicity in Tuesday’s ballistic missile strikes,” said Secretary Steven Mnuchin, referring to Iran’s attack on US bases in Iraq.

“These sanctions will continue until the regime stops the funding of global terrorism and commits to never having nuclear weapons,” he stated.

Netanyahu, at the beginning of Sunday’s weekly Cabinet meeting, commended President Donald Trump for imposing “new and very harsh sanctions against this regime.”

He called on Britain, France and Germany to” join the American effort. They need to go to the Security Council, and there they need to activate the sanctions that have been decided upon.”

“I would like to reiterate: Israel will not allow Iran to develop nuclear weapons,” he concluded.

Israel has long campaigned for the reimposing of crippling financial sanctions on Itan as a means to force it to step away from its nuclear program and its financing of global terrorism.

Mnuchin stated in October that “we have executed on a maximum pressure campaign for sanctions. They have worked, they are working, they are cutting off the money.”

The US “will continue to ramp up, more, more, more,” he added.

American Style Freedom Explodes Around the World

0
Strange then, that the citizens of Hong Kong, mainly the youth of that city, are demanding freedom and defending their capitalism by waving American flags and actually singing our National Anthem, in the streets, dangerously, right in front of armed Chinese troops and police. Their lives are on the line. Photo Credit: Getty Images

The mainstream media and Leftists will tell you that our beloved country is hated and despised by the rest of the world. “We are being isolated by our friends!” they blare at us in newsprint and electronically. They support the women’s marches of discontent, college student protests against free speech and lash out against and bemoan the hard line stance our president is taking against the dictatorial likes of China, Cuba, Venezuela and the Iranian, mullah controlled regime.

So, isn’t it ironic that around the world, the movement for American styled freedom is exploding like crazy. Strange then, that the citizens of Hong Kong, mainly the youth of that city, are demanding freedom and defending their capitalism by waving American flags and actually singing our National Anthem, in the streets, dangerously, right in front of armed Chinese troops and police. Their lives are on the line.

Just compare these patriots to the likes of our own Colin Kaepernick, a professional ballplayer who earned 12 million bucks in his last season who took a knee during the playing of the anthem preceding a game and demeaned our way of life to the media. He hates America along with his supporters who number many, even in the halls of our Congress. We have it and don’t want it, and those who are enslaved will put their lives on the line for it. Figure that one out.

The ordinary people of Tunisia, Syria and Russia are also running great risks just to get a taste of the freedoms we take for granted. In Iran, the Mullahs are trying to stem the outrage of their citizens who clamor for basic human rights and the necessities of life. People wonder where the billions handed over to that country by our own previous administration went. They are screaming out for liberty and our style of democracy. In this age of advanced electronic communication they know they are governed by despots who deprive them of the basic freedoms that we Americans enjoy as a matter of course.

We are the envy of the world, yet many among us call for Marxist style Socialism to replace the capitalist system that has made us, over the past nearly 250 years, the greatest country on this planet. Many current presidential aspirants who have benefited well from our economic system clamor for change. And those in their ranks should take a second look at the real world around them and compare the gifts that have been bestowed on us and thank G-d that they live within the borders of the greatest nation this world has ever seen. May G-d continue to bless and watch over us, one and all.
