MLB Expanding Presence in China While Pulling Out of Atlanta

WARNER TODD HUSTON

Major League Baseball faces increased public outrage on Monday after observers noted that the league pulled its All-Star Game from Georgia 24 hours after inking a deal with streaming service Tencent, a Chinese company close to the Communist Party.

South China Morning Post pointed out that MLB has replaced the NBA as the “latest sporting battleground” after announcing it is building a more significant presence in communist China with a new deal with Tencent, among other deals.

The Global Times, an approved Chinese state news outlet, noted that MLB will continue its relationship with Tencent, but has also struck a new deal with Oriental Pearl New Media, “allowing the 2021-23 seasons to be shown on cable TV in China.”

The continuing deal with Tencent will allow MLB games to be streamed through the 2023 season. The agreement also enables Tencent to broadcast MLB games to other Asian countries, including Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia, through its international arm WeTV.

The decision to grow its presence in China through the communist government’s approved services comes on the heels of the league’s decision to pull its All-Star Game out of Atlanta, Georgia, over the state’s new election integrity law.

Last week, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred insisted that pulling the game from the majority-black city of Atlanta was “the best way to demonstrate our values as a sport.”

Meanwhile, the communist Chinese have celebrated the deal with American baseball. As Beijing Enterprises Real-Estate Group Ltd. chairman Qian Xu said in 2017 when MLB made an earlier deal, “We are thrilled to have a strategic alliance with Major League Baseball that seeks to enhance the playing level of professional baseball teams in China.”

Just like American pro sports, China has not been above using its relationships to push its politics. In 2019, Tencent stopped airing the NBA’s games when Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey tweeted his support for the pro-democracy movement in China-controlled Hong Kong. The NBA apologized to China, but the apology did not bring the country’s streaming service back to the fold for nearly a year.

Meanwhile, U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R, KY) took aim at MLB for ramping up its dealings with the communist Chinese even as it pulls out of an American state, saying that MLB is a “little too woke.”

“Your sports league might be a little too woke if it will freely do business with Communists in China and Cuba, but boycotts a U.S. state that wants people to show an I.D. to vote.,” Sen. Paul tweeted on Saturday.

Arkansas Republican Senator Tom Cotton also criticized the league with a tweet asking how many days of early voting China has.

President Biden Used Loop Hole To Avoid Taxes on $13 Million

(TJVNEWS.COM) President Biden has come under fire by House Republicans for ‘hypocritically’ using an IRS loophole to avoid paying taxes on $13 million in income for tax years 2017 and 2018, while slamming wealthy Americans for using similar schemes to minimize their tax burden, according to Fox News.

In a scathing letter(LINK) from the leader of a House conservative caucus Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN), the Bidens’ used two S-corporations, the CelticCapri Corporation and the Giacoppa Corporation, to funnel proceeds from book royalties and speaking appearances, “avoiding self-employment payroll tax liabilities that would have flowed to America’s Medicare program that provides care to over 60 million seniors.”

“Tax experts have questioned the propriety of diverting funds raised from one’s own intellectual property through an S-corporation,” the letter continues. “Even your own failed OMB nominee, Neera Tanden, while she was running the Center for American Progress, described this practice as a “loophole.”

“Your hypocrisy is highlighted by the fact that Medicare faces significant funding shortfalls,” Banks continues in the March 25 letter. “Just this year, the Congressional Budget Office estimated its Hospital Insurance Trust Fund will face insolvency in the middle of the Fiscal Year 2026—roughly five years from now.”

“Moreover, during the presidential campaign, you said ‘ObamaCare is personal to me,” the letter adds. “And your administration has sought to expand ObamaCare wherever possible. Yet, you and your wife avoided paying $121,000 in Obamacare payroll taxes.

Here comes the irony, as Zero Hedge pointed out

Under IRS rules, an S-corporation – a partnership with fewer than 100 shareholders – may pass income directly to shareholders to avoid double taxation. The Bidens, through CelticCapri and Giacoppa Corps. reported $13 million that wasn’t subject to self-employment taxes, while paying the Bidens under $800,000 in salaries.

During his 2020 Democratic National Convention acceptance speech in August, Biden specifically called for ending tax loopholes used by the wealthy.

“Because we don’t need a tax code that rewards wealth more than it rewards work. I’m not looking to punish anyone,” said Biden. “Far from it. But it’s long past time the wealthiest people and the biggest corporations in this country paid their fair share.”

The “Mind Viruses” Creating Social Justice Warriors

0

(MISES)

Gad Saad, a psychologist who specializes in applying evolutionary biology to the study of consumer behavior, has written a book of great value, and moreover, it is a book that required great courage to write. The book is filled with interesting ideas, and I have space here to mention only a few of them.

What most draws me to the book is that Saad has a philosophical turn of mind, and as such, he is concerned with fashionable attempts to deny the existence of objective truth. He says,

The central focus of this book is to explore another set of pathogens that are as dangerous [as biological parasites] to the human condition: parasitic pathogens of the human mind. These are composed of thought patterns, belief systems, attitudes, and mindsets that parasitize one’s ability to think properly and accurately. Once these mind viruses take hold of one’s neuronal circuitry, the afflicted victim loses the ability to use reason, logic, and science to navigate the world. Instead, one sinks into an abyss of infinite lunacy best defined by a dogged and proud departure from reality, common sense, and truth. (p. 17)

The mental viruses Saad has in mind are to a large extent those that deny that human beings have a biological nature. He says, for example,

Many idea pathogens share one common thread, a deep desire to liberate people from the shackles of reality. Take, for example, the blank slate premise of the human mind. It posits that humans are born void of any evolved biological blueprints and innate individual differences. Our eventual life trajectories are thought to be fully shaped by the distinct environment to which we’ve been exposed. (p. 70)

It is exactly here that Saad has manifested his courage, as the followers of many fashionable movements deny what he affirms and have been quick to boycott and blacklist dissenters. He tells us that the

idea pathogens on university campuses fall into several large categories. Postmodernism posits that all knowledge is relative (no objective truths)…. Social constructivism proposes that the great majority of human behaviors, desires, and preferences are formed not by human nature or our biological heritage but by society, which means, among other things, that there are no biologically determined sex differences, but only culturally imposed “gender roles.” Radical feminism asserts that these gender roles are due to the nebulous and nefarious forces of the patriarchy. Transgender activism purports that biological sex and “gender” are non-binary fluid constructs. Scientifically speaking, postmodernism, social constructivism, radical feminism, and transgender activism are all based on demonstrable falsehoods. (p. 69, emphasis in original)

Saad has placed great stress on the findings, as he takes them, of evolutionary biology, but how do we know these findings are true, and, moreover, so firmly established that resistance to them can be characterized as mental pathology? In a crucial passage, he says that evolutionary theory is supported by “nomological networks of cumulative evidence.” “This approach epitomizes the gift of the human intellect. It is akin to building a jigsaw puzzle. No single piece is sufficient to see the full image but once all of the pieces are placed in their rightful positions, the final pattern emerges clearly” (p. 146).

Saad, it transpires, firmly believes that science is our best means to attain objective truth. “Philosophers have offered many frameworks to define truth. Mathematical proofs, for instance, are axiomatic truthsEmpirical truths, on the other hand, are sought by the scientific method” (p. 143, emphasis in original). Saad’s views about evolution and science merit careful consideration, but my aim here is to present them rather than evaluate them. I would, though, note one problem. When he says that the “scientific method is the universal epistemological framework for understanding the world around us” (p. 57, emphasis added), he is making a statement that he takes to be true, even though it is a philosophical statement and not a scientific one.

In his stress on the objectivity of logic and reason, Saad finds an ally in Ludwig von Mises, whom he cites:

The contemporary progressive mantra considers it laudable to argue that different races, cultures, or religions possess distinct ways of knowing. However, not too long ago, the idea that people of different races or classes possessed distinct ways of thinking and reasoning, was reserved for racists and other miscreants. Ludwig von Mises … coined the term polylogism to capture this exact folly. Mises differentiated between Marxian polylogism and racial polylogism…. Polylogism is an anti-science notion, as Mises well knew…. There is no “black mind” or “white mind,” no “white male way of knowing” or “indigenous way of knowing,” there is only one truth, and we find it through the scientific method. (pp. 59–60)

An objection might occur to some readers, but Saad has an answer to it. Saad says that there is only one way of knowing, not separate male and female ways of knowing, but doesn’t he also, against those he calls radical feminists, emphasize biologically based differences between the behavior of men and women? Saad would reply that there is no contradiction: there are evolutionary reasons for both universal logic and sex-based differences in behavior.

If science is to continue to progress, it is essential that all lines of inquiry be open. This openness ought not to give way to the demands of certain “oppressed” groups that controversial views that hurt their feelings should be banned:

Given that they are so wrong, how do the ideologues defend their idea pathogens? Under totalitarian regimes, the solution is direct. You criminalize if not violently suppress (or kill) any dissenting voices. In the West, the ideological indoctrination is subtler. It is achieved by an ethos of political correctness and best enforced by creating university campuses that lack intellectual diversity … intellectual terrorists instruct generations of gullible students to remain quiet in their classroom seats while they inculcate them with anti-science nonsense. (p. 92, emphasis in original)

AP-NORC Poll: Border Woes Hurt Biden Approval on Immigration

(AP) More Americans disapprove than approve of how President Joe Biden is handling waves of unaccompanied migrant children arriving at the U.S.-Mexico border, and approval of his efforts on larger immigration policy falls short of other top issues — suggesting it could be a weak point for the new administration.

A new poll by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research also shows that solving the problem of young people at the border is among Americans’ highest immigration priorities: 59% say providing safe treatment of unaccompanied children when they are apprehended should be a high priority, and 65% say the same about reuniting families separated at the border.

Former President Donald Trump built his presidency around tough policies that expanded and fortified border walls, made it harder for people fleeing drug violence and other desperate circumstances in Mexico and Central America to seek U.S. asylum, and separated immigrant families.

Biden has tried to seize political momentum on the issue by promising a more humane and orderly system, but his administration has struggled to cope with rising numbers of migrants coming to the border, especially unaccompanied children.

Overall, 40% of Americans disapprove of Biden’s handling of children reaching the nation’s southern border without their parents, compared with just 24% who approve. Thirty-five percent don’t have an opinion either way.

“I don’t know how to politically correctly say this: I do feel that, because there’s this new administration, that people feel that they can come to the country,” said Mindy Kiehl, a 40-year-old real estate agent in Erie, Pennsylvania, who otherwise approves of Biden’s handling of the presidency so far.

“I get it. They’re seeking refuge,” Kiehl added. “But bringing these children, it’s not good for the children, it’s not good for the families. I don’t know how that’s going to solve the problem.”

Biden said at a recent news conference that “we’re sending back the vast majority of the families that are coming.” But his struggles on the issue go beyond unaccompanied minors.

Just 42% of Americans say they approve of how the president is handling immigration in general, and a similar share, 44%, say they approve of how he’s handling border security. Both are significantly lower than the 61% of Americans who say they approve of how Biden is handling his job overall and fall short of the president’s rating on some other issues, including his response to the coronavirus pandemic and managing of the economy.

That gap comes despite the White House endorsing the most ambitious overhaul of the nation’s immigration system in a generation on Biden’s first day in office. It has stalled in Congress, though, and Republicans and even some top Democrats say passage will be difficult.

The plan would provide an eight-year path to citizenship for the estimated 11 million people in the U.S. illegally, but the poll shows doing so isn’t high on the public’s priority list. Only 29% of Americans overall, including 42% of Democrats and 14% of Republicans, called legal status for people in the country illegally a high priority.

Additionally, only a third of Americans each say that allowing refugees to come to the U.S. or expanding “guest worker” programs should be high priorities.

The gap between Biden’s overall approval rating and his handling of immigration crosses party lines. Seventy-four percent of Democrats and 10% of Republicans approve of Biden’s handling of immigration, compared with 96% of Democrats and 22% of Republicans who approve overall.

The difference also comes across racial and ethnic groups. Overall, 92% of Black Americans, 67% of Hispanics and 52% of white Americans say they approve of how Biden is handling his job. On immigration, 74% of Black Americans but only 50% of Hispanics and 34% of white Americans say they approve.

Jack Henes, a retiree in Sebastian, Florida, said Biden hasn’t handled immigration as well as some other hot-button issues while calling what’s happening on the U.S. southern border an “administrative nightmare.”

While awaiting the larger legislative package, the Democrat-controlled House has passed smaller-scale reforms that face uncertain futures in a Senate split 50-50. Biden also has used executive actions to attempt to roll back many Trump administration immigration policies but has been criticized for failing to do enough fast enough.

Others feel he’s already gone too far.

“My concern is that President Biden has allowed the world to feel it’s OK to just come on in,” said Matthew Behrs, a Trump supporter in Wisconsin.

The poll shows many Americans rank some of the major goals of the Democrat proposal as moderate priorities instead of high ones, suggesting Biden lacks a clear mandate for how best to proceed on the issue, potentially hurting his leverage with Congress.

And many want to see efforts to step up enforcement be part of the conversation: For 53%, increasing security at the border is a high priority. Some 47% of Americans also say the federal government should make strengthening policies to prevent immigrants from overstaying their visas a high priority.

Fewer, roughly a third, say penalizing companies that hire immigrants living in the U.S. illegally and deporting immigrants living in the U.S. illegally should be high priorities.

The poll also finds Americans are more likely to favor than oppose providing a way for immigrants brought to the U.S. illegally as children to stay legally, 53% to 24%, with 22% saying they are neither in favor nor opposed. Still, just 41% call extending legal protections to so-called Dreamers a high priority. A plan approved by the House but awaiting Senate action seeks to do just that.

Biden has now assigned Vice President Kamala Harris to work with Central American countries to try to address the root causes of illegal immigration. Henes, the retiree, suggested that Biden has given the problem to Harris as a way of buying himself some time — but that it hasn’t helped.

“They’re still in the huddle,” Henes said. “They’re not ready to call a play.”

The AP-NORC poll of 1,166 adults was conducted March 26-29 using a sample drawn from NORC’s probability-based AmeriSpeak Panel, which is designed to be representative of the U.S. population. The margin of sampling error for all respondents is plus or minus 3.6 percentage points.

Soros Group Pledges $20M to Boost Biden Plan

By Brian Freeman(NEWSMAX)

The George Soros-founded Open Society Foundations are pledging $20 million for a campaign to rally progressives to support President Joe Biden’s infrastructure proposal, Axios reported on Monday.

Financial support from the group could help spur a vital call to action for Democrat donors and activists who back Biden’s initial $2 trillion-plus infrastructure plan but are determined to see the president do more.

Biden is considering revealing later this month a second part of his overall proposal, which would have a broader focus on social welfare proposals — such as health care, the care-giving economy, climate, and community colleges.

The idea of the $20 million pledge is to help jumpstart as much as $100 million in funding to help encourage support for Biden’s overall agenda.

The money is expected to help activate many of the grassroots progressive groups that led the fierce opposition to the agenda of former President Donald Trump.

The  $20 million is expected to be funneled to such grassroots organizing — and not be used for paid advertising.

“We hope this effort on the part of organizers and donors will give the Biden administration and Congress the assurance that they need to go as big, bold and fast as possible,” said Leah Hunt-Hendrix, who co-founded Way to Win, a progressive donor network.

Tom Perriello, the executive director of Open Society-U.S., said that “Every initiative proposed by President Biden has broad public support. But we’ve seen popular reforms get demonized before by partisans and special interests, and we are not going to let that happen.”

Perriello added that “Facts don’t always win without some real muscle put behind getting those facts in front of the American people.”

The funding for the campaign comes as progressives are walking a fine line between encouraging and antagonizing the White House, according to Axios.

Some progressive insist that Biden is not going nearly far enough in his proposals with, for example, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez demanding $10 trillion in spending.

However, any such ultimatums that jack up the price tag and lead to more significant increases in taxes more could alienate moderate Democrat votes that Biden cannot afford to lose in his political battles.

Already, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell has vowed that his party will do all it can to oppose Biden’s plans in their current form “every step of the way.”

This, however, has not deterred Biden officials, who have said they are determined not to moderate their ambitions too much.

Those officials are strident in their belief that the Obama administration did not exert enough energy in battling for a larger stimulus package back in 2009, and they do not intend to repeat that move this time around.

The funding effort also comes as Republican congressmen are criticizing both the size of Biden’s proposed $2.25 trillion infrastructure plan and the fact that its funding is based on an increase in the corporate tax rate, while Democrats are touting it as a way to generate long-term job growth, The Hill reported.

86 Migrants Arrested in Five Failed Human Smuggling Attempts in Texas near Border

Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley Sector disrupted five human smuggling attempts. The interdictions led to the arrest of 86 migrants attempting to make their way into the U.S. interior.

Rio Grande City Station agents observed a group of migrants making landfall along the Rio Grande border river on April 2. The agents, along with a K-9 team and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers tracked the group to a residence in Rio Grande City, Texas, according to information obtained from Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol officials.

The agents observed fresh mud on the walls of the house near a window ledge. They called for support from Rio Grande City police officers to obtain entry into the house. Inside, agents found eight illegal aliens, officials stated.

Two days earlier, McAllen Statio agents received a call from the Mission Police Department about a possible human smuggling stash house in their city. Agents responded to the mobile home where they found a group of 13 migrants. Officials identified the migrants as foreign nationals from El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, and Nicaragua.

Later that night, agents attempted to stop a Ford F-350 pickup truck near Linn/San Manuel, Texas. The driver refused to yield leading the agents on a short pursuit. The pursuit ended when the truck crashed into a fence.

The agents observed a group of migrants bailing out of the truck and fleeing into the brush. A search of the area led to the apprehension of two Honduran nationals illegally present in the United States.

In two additional incidents on Thursday, Rio Grande Valley Sector agents apprehended 63 more migrants.

Georgia GOP Legislators to Coca-Cola: We Want You Out

Certain Republican Georgia lawmakers want Coca Cola products removed from their offices after the corporation spoke out against the state’s new election law, reports the Hill.

In a letter to Kevin Perry, president of the Georgia Beverage Association, eight members of the Georgia House of Representatives —Victor Anderson, Clint Crowe, Matt Barton, Jason Ridley, Lauren McDonald III, Stan Gunter, Dewayne Hill and Marcus Wiedower —complained about Coca-Cola.

“Given Coke’s choice to cave to the pressure of an out of control cancel culture, we respectfully request all Coca-Cola Company products be removed from our office suite immediately,” they stated. “Should Coke choose to read the bill, share its true intentions and accept their role in the dissemination of mistruths, we would welcome a conversation to rebuild a working relationship.”

Coca-Cola said in a statement obtained by Newsweek that it had been working with the Metro Atlanta Chamber in “expressing our concerns and advocating for positive change in voting legislation. We, along with our business coalition partners, sought improvements that would enhance accessibility, maximize voter participation, maintain election integrity and serve all Georgians.”

The company stated it would continue to advocate for its position on voting issues in Georgia.

“We will continue to identify opportunities for engagement and strive for improvements aimed at promoting and protecting the right to vote in our home state and elsewhere,” the company said.

Coca-Cola CEO James Quincey publicly attacked Georgia Republican Gov. Brian Kemp for recently signing into law voting legislation Quincey declared as “unacceptable” and “a step backwards.”

The legislation expands early voting opportunities, weekend early voting and extends deadlines for absentee ballot requests. It also creates a state-wide voter ID absentee voting requirement and restricts ballot drop box usage.

Quincey said the new law moves Georgia backwards.

“Let me be crystal clear and unequivocal, this legislation is unacceptable, it is a step backward and it does not promote principles we have stood for in Georgia, around broad access to voting, around voter convenience, about ensuring election integrity, and this is frankly just a step backwards,” Quincey said.

One provision of the new law seems to be of particular interest to the Georgia Beverage Association: the prohibition on handing out either soft drinks or food voters waiting in a line at the polling station to vote, reports the Hill.

‘Full support’ – Israeli, US, Saudi leaders back Jordanian king Following Coup Attempt

(JNS)The United States is “closely following” the situation in Jordan following reports of an alleged coup plot involving the former Jordanian crown prince, U.S. State Department Spokesperson Ned Price said on Sunday.

“King Abdullah is a key partner of the United States, and he has our full support,” tweeted Price.

Jordan’s official media outlet on Saturday denied reports that Prince Hamza bin Hussein, King Abdullah II’s half-brother, had been arrested, claiming that the prince had instead been asked to stop “movements and activities that are used to target” the kingdom’s stability and security. According to the Jordan News Agency, the warning was part of “joint comprehensive investigations undertaken by security agencies,” leading to the arrests of royal family member Sharrif Hassan bin Zaid, former Finance Minister Basem Ibrahim Awadallah and others.

In a video statement released to the BBC by his lawyers, Prince Hamza denied involvement in any conspiracy and claimed that he “was not allowed to go out, to communicate with people or to meet with them.”

J

Prince Hamzah said he had been informed that this was a “warning” related to meetings he had attended, during which the government and king were criticized, as well as connected to social media posts about those meetings.

The prince said that friends of his had been arrested, his security detail had been removed and his Internet and phone lines had been cut. The video message, he said, had been sent via a satellite Internet connection that would also be cut soon, meaning that this would possibly be his last communication.

Prince Hamza then went on to say that he was not the one responsible for the “breakdown in governance, corruption and incompetence” from which the country had suffered over the past two decades.

Jordanian Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti indicated that the investigations were ongoing, and that the results would be announced “with full transparency and clarity,” according to the Jordan News Agency.

“No one is above the law and Jordan’s security and stability take precedence over any consideration,” said Huneiti.

CNN’s Jim Acosta: ‘We’re All Dealing with Some Post-Trump Stress Disorder’

CNN’s Jim Acosta said Sunday on “Reliable Sources” that many within the news media were dealing with “post-Trump stress disorder” in the aftermath of Donald Trump’s presidency.

Anchor Brian Stelter said, “Do you feel like you are rundown, your lineup is really different than it would have been in the Trump years?”

Acosta said, “When you asked me if I was rundown, I was wondering if you were asking me how I felt during the Trump era. I think we’re all dealing with some post-Trump stress disorder.”

He continued, “There are questions about why aren’t Republicans getting on board with these Biden proposals. There were Republicans getting on board with overturning the election just a couple of months ago, so we shouldn’t have high expectations for that. But in terms of stacking shows and what comes first, what comes second, Brian, you and I both know this all too well. We did cover the news before Donald Trump came along, and we did it pretty well. There’s going to be plenty of stuff in the news put there, and it doesn’t have to have Donald Trump in the headlines for us to continue to exist.”

He added, “When he was president, he was doing things that were beneath the audience of the presidency. Now he’s doing things beneath the office of the post-presidency. He’s not going to change, but we need to change with the times.”

Leading nationalist organizations urge Netanyahu, Saar, Bennett to reconcile, form right-wing government

Eleven leading organizations from the nationalist camp issued a call on Sunday to the leaders of the nationalist parties to put their personal differences aside and join together to form a government that is not reliant on anti-Zionist parties.

“We, organizations from the nationalist camp, call on the leaders of the Zionist parties from the Right and Left to reject the possibility of forming a government-supported from within or without by parties that don’t recognize Israel’s right to exist as the nation state of the Jewish People,” wrote the organizations.

The organizations continued, “Any party whose members support terrorism must be rejected outright, whether it’s the Ra’am party of the Islamic Movement or the Joint List.

“All parties should reconcile with their political rivals because at the end of the day, the only thing that’s important is the Jewish state and Jewish sovereignty in the Land of Israel.”

The signatories include Im Tirtzu, Regavim, Professors for a Strong Israel, Cafe Shapira Forum, Choosing Life Forum of Bereaved Families, My Israel, Headquarters for the South Tel-Aviv Struggle, Wounded IDF Veterans Forum, Lach Yerushalayim, Lavi, and Yozma Ezrachit.

Matan Peleg, CEO of Im Tirtzu, which initiated the move, said that the letter was a wake-up call to the heads of the Zionist parties.

“Our elected officials need to wake up and understand that they are leading the country down a path of selling out its Zionist values for no justifiable reason. The nationalist camp has a clear majority to form a stable government. We are calling on Benjamin Netanyahu, Gideon Saar and Naftali Bennett to take responsibility. The good of the country needs to come first, not personal emotions and mutual hatred.”

Professor Asher Yahalom, head of Professors for a Strong Israel, said he leaders of the nationalist camp need to “put the interests of the Jewish People first.”

“The challenges abroad and at home require the establishment of a nationalist government,” said My Israel head Sara Haetzni-Cohen.

Meir Deutsch, head of Regavim, said that “whoever is willing to sit in a coalition with those who do not recognize Israel as a Jewish and democratic state isn’t a Zionist. All of the spins and twists will not be able to obscure this ethical matter.”

Meanwhile, late Sunday evening reports indicated that Opposition leader Yair Lapid’s consultations with right-wing Yamina party leader Naftali Bennett were progressing and that Likud officials were concerned.

According to Channel 13, Lapid, head of the center-left Yesh Atid party, offered Bennett the opportunity to serve as prime minister first in a rotation government on condition that he completely renounce Netanyahu. Despite their different ideologies, Bennett – whose party has only seven seats in the 120-seat Knesset – reportedly is considering accepting the deal.

Netanyahu won 30 seats in the election. Next is Lapid with 17.

Religious Zionism chair Bezalel Smotrich is urging Bennett to partner with Likud in order to form a stable right-wing government.

On Sunday evening, Saar reiterated his conviction never to join a Netanyahu-led government, Hebrew-language media reported.

Australian Neo-Nazis Call On Followers To ‘Breed Out’ Local Jewish Population

0

(VINnews) — A far-right neo-Nazi group in Australia called on supporters to ‘breed out’ the Jewish population by consorting with local Jewish women, according to report by Dr. Dvir Abramovich of the Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC).

The National Socialist Network urged “every honorable White man, national socialist, klansman, skinhead, racist” to take part in “Operation Ashkenazi Strange,” and seek out Jewish women in Melbourne in order to “breed out the Jewish race with Alpha Aryan Australian POWER,” according to a screenshot of a Gab post shared by the ADC.

The post also included a picture of a masked man holding up a whiteboard with derogatory instructions on how to contact and seduce Jewish women.

Thomas Sowell, the leader of the neo-Nazi group, also shared a photo of himself performing a Nazi salute in front of a picture of ADC head Dvir Abramovich in a gas chamber with a yellow Star of David on his forehead. The accompanying caption reads “f__k you Dvir.”

“These stomach-churning posts not only reveal the true nature of the neo-Nazi beast in our country but a rising climate of radicalization in which Hitler worshippers openly fantasize about gassing a Jewish leader and call on unrepentant bigots to be on the hunt and rape Jewish women and share such threats online,” Abramovich said in a statement.

He added: “Let’s remember that before he committed the Christchurch massacre, Brenton Tarrant was radicalized on the internet, consumed by the conspiracy theory of ‘White replacement’ that Sewell is promoting, and that Sewell unsuccessfully tried to recruit the mass-murderer.”

Tarrant, an Australian, killed 51 people and wounded 40 at mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, in 2019.

Abramovich called on the Australian government to designate the National Socialist Network and other neo-Nazi groups as terror organizations. Last month, Australia outlawed the neo-Nazi Sonnenkrieg Division, the first time it has designated a right-wing organization as a terror group.

Asian Woman Stabbed to Death, But Hate Crime Not Suspected

By Brian Freeman(NEWSMAX)

An Asian woman was stabbed to death over the weekend in Riverside, Calif., but police do not suspect a hate crime, CNN reported on Sunday.

The woman, 64-year-old Ke Chieh Meng, was out walking her two dogs on Saturday when she was attacked. Police said officers arrested 23-year-old Darlene Stephanie Montoya after neighbors in the area of the stabbing reported: “a transient woman walking through their yards and appearing suspicious.”

Riverside Police spokesperson Officer Ryan Railsback said, “when our detectives interviewed the suspect, they didn’t come across anything to suggest she attacked the victim due to her race.”

Police said the murder appeared to be random.

“We’re going to try to research [the suspect’s] drug-abuse history and her mental-health history,” Railsback said, adding that cops are nonetheless “not closing the door on anything,” according to the New York Post.

Less than a week ago, Montoya was arrested by Riverside police after she attacked a woman near a shopping mall and booked her into jail for assault with a deadly weapon, CNN reported.

However, she was released shortly thereafter on a “notice to appear” citation because of  Riverside’s coronavirus-inspired emergency bail schedule.

Railsback said the victim in that case was a white woman, according to the Post.

Just this past week, President Joe Biden announced a number of new actions to combat the nation’s rise in anti-Asian violence, Axios reported, after a recent series of shootings in which at least six Asian women were killed.

Anti-Asian hate crimes reported to police in the nation’s largest cities soared almost 150% last year, according to a study by the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism at California State University.

Israeli Scientists Use Umbilical Cord Blood To Improve Autistic Children’s Cognitive And Social Skills

(VINnews)A team of Israeli scientists is endeavoring to use umbilical cord blood to effect changes and improvements in the lives of autistic children. To mark World Autism Awareness Day which fell last Friday, the team published some of its findings and called on mothers to collect and save the blood as it could be used to treat their children at a later stage.

The treatments are based on a protocol which was developed by the Duke University Medical Center involving a one-time infusion to patients of some of their own cord blood cells which were taken from their umbilical cord at birth. Dr. Omer Bar Yosef, a clinical and research neurobiologist at Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer, told the Jerusalem Post that he has so far treated 25 children with autism as part of a Phase II trial and hopes to treat up to 60 children in this phase of the trial.

“There is no chemotherapy involved, no chemical medications,” explained Dr. Moshe Israeli, who serves as scientific director at Taburit, one of the leaders in the field of umbilical cord blood collection and preservation in Israel. “There is no concern; it’s not risky.”

The team has seen encouraging results in a number of different areas, including communication and social and emotional responsiveness.

“We don’t know 100% why it is working,” Israeli said. “There is a unique type of stem cell in the cord blood. These cells make their way through the blood to the brain, and we think they promote the growth of new synapses in the brain.

Synapses connect neurons in the brain to neurons in the rest of the body. Scientists have discovered that the difficulty in managing social interactions found in people with autism is due to poor maturation of the synapses. The synapses from cord blood could improve the brain’s neuron connections enabling improved social interaction.

“One or two years after treatment, we see through brain imaging that there are more synapses,” Israeli explained. “The treatment influences the brain to grow and become more efficient and have better communication.”

While Israel only allows the use of one’s own cord cells or their siblings’ cells, a Phase III trial being run at Duke also allows for the use of third-party cord blood cells, meaning the cells of an unrelated donor that is stored in one of the cord blood banks. In the US, the treatment is already approved for compassionate use.

Bar Yosef warned that the treatment does not help everyone, but added that even if only 20% of those treated improve, it would be considered an amazing result, since no previous treatment had targeted the neurological aspects of autism.

Hanna Abramovich-Biniachvili, whose seven-year-old Avi had the treatment two years ago, says that her son is now more capable of controlling his moods and his relationship with space, and interacts much better with the environment around him.

“He started to speak, make eye contact,” she said. “We see such a dramatic improvement.”

Abramovich-Biniachvili said that the family has invested and continues to invest in additional supports for Avi to help improve his ability to function, but she believes the cord blood is what made the difference.

“There is a dramatic difference that we did not see before this treatment from anything else,” Abramovich-Biniachvili says.

Around 1 in 100 children in Israel are diagnosed with autism according to ALUT, the Israeli Society of Children and Adults with Autism, but the numbers are rising and there could be 50,000 Israeli citizens with the disorder within the next decade.

Hackers published the phone numbers and personal data of 533 million Facebook users today, according to reports. The leak includes users’ full names, locations, phone numbers, and email addresses.

It does not appear that passwords have been leaked.

Via Business Insider:

A user in a low level hacking forum on Saturday published the phone numbers and personal data of hundreds of millions of Facebook users for free online.
The exposed data includes personal information of over 533 million Facebook users from 106 countries, including over 32 million records on users in the US, 11 million on users in the UK, and 6 million on users in India. It includes their phone numbers, Facebook IDs, full names, locations, birthdates, bios, and — in some cases — email addresses.
Insider reviewed a sample of the leaked data and verified several records by matching known Facebook users’ phone numbers with the IDs listed in the data set. We also verified records by testing email addresses from the data set in Facebook’s password reset feature, which can be used to partially reveal a user’s phone number.

According to Insider, Facebook says that the security vulnerability that allowed hackers to scrape the data was fixed in 2019.

Battered by scandals and pressure from Democrats and the media over political controversies like the Cambridge Analytica incident, Facebook has put a greater emphasis on privacy in its public statements in recent years.

In 2019, CEO Mark Zuckerberg promised to shift the company’s products towards privacy-focused communications.

“I believe the future of communication will increasingly shift to private, encrypted services where people can be confident what they say to each other stays secure and their messages and content won’t stick around forever,” said Zuckerberg at the time. “This is the future I hope we will help bring about.”

(AP) DMX’s longtime New York-based lawyer, Murray Richman, said the rapper was on life support Saturday evening at White Plains Hospital.

“He had a heart attack. He’s quite ill,” Richman said.

Richman said he could not confirm reports that DMX, 50, overdosed on drugs and was not sure what caused the heart attack.

“I’m very sad about it, extremely sad. He’s like my son,” Richman said. “He’s just a tremendous person, tremendous entertainer, tremendous human being. And so much to offer, so much to say. Not the run-of-the-mill rapper. A person of great depth.”

On Saturday night, the TMZ.com website reported that it received a statement from a representative of DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, that said: “Last night Earl ‘DMX’ Simmons was rushed to the hospital after collapsing at home. At this time he remains in ICU in critical condition. Earl has been a warrior his entire life. This situation represents yet another road he must conquer.

“The Simmons Family appreciates the overwhelming outpouring of heartfelt love, encouragement, support and prayers for Earl. Earl is someone whose life and music have been a source of inspiration and strength to so many people around the world. It is reassuring to see his fans return that same passion and energy to him during his time of need.”

DMX made a splash in rap music in 1998 with his first studio album “It’s Dark and Hell is Hot,” which debuted No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The multiplatinum selling album was anchored by several hits including “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem,” “Get At Me Dog” and “Stop Being Greedy.”

The rapper had four other chart-topping albums including “…And Then There Was X,” “Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood,” “The Great Depression” and “Grand Champ.” He has released seven albums and earned three Grammy nominations.

Along with his music career, DMX paved his way as an actor. He starred in the 1998 film “Belly” and appeared in “Romeo Must Die” a couple years later with Jet Li and the late singer Aaliyah. DMX and Aaliyah teamed up for the film’s soundtrack song “Come Back in One Piece.”

The rapper also starred in “Exit Wounds” with Steven Seagal and “Cradle 2 the Grave” with Li.

Over the years, DMX has battled with substance abuse. The rapper canceled a series of shows to check himself into a rehabilitation facility in 2019. In an Instagram post, his team said he apologized for the canceled shows and thanked his fans for the continued support.

Last year, DMX faced off against Snoop Dogg in a Verzuz battle, which drew more than 500,000 viewers.
