Joe Biden might just have killed Major League Baseball

Georgia passed a law that greatly expands people’s opportunities to vote. However, because it mandates voter ID for absentee ballot requests, Democrats, led by Joe Biden, have announced that the bill is the Second Coming of Jim Crow. Joe went farther and sought to destroy parts of Georgia’s economy by calling for Major League Baseball to move its All-Star Game out of Georgia. The MLB franchise heeded that call.

One of the highlights of the baseball season is the All-Star Game, which was set to be played on July 13 in Atlanta. Since 1933, midway through the MLB season, fans pick their favorites from the American League and the National League, and then the chosen stars compete. I’m not a baseball fan, but I’m willing to bet that, in terms of ad revenue and merchandise sales, it’s an important part of the business end of pro baseball. And it certainly brings revenue to the city hosting it.

On Thursday, Biden made one of his little scripted appearances, this time on ESPN. It’s worth noting that ESPN, which Disney owns, long ago transferred its allegiance from sports to leftism with a serving of sports on the side. Trump, who was a fine athlete when he was young, was never allowed near ESPN.

Sage Steele, ESPN’s interviewer, told Biden:

“Tony Clark is the executive director of the Major League Baseball Players Association. He said he would, quote, look forward to discussing moving the All-Star Game out of Atlanta because Georgia governor Brian Kemp signed into law a bill passed by the Republican-led state legislature to overhaul how its state elections are run. So, Mr. President, what do you think about the possibility that baseball decides to move their All-Star Game out of Atlanta because of this political issue?”

At this point, the president who used the word “unity” eight times in his inauguration speech could have said something along the lines of, “You know, Sage, baseball is America’s pastime. We invented the game, and it’s a sport everyone should be able to enjoy without politics intruding.”

That’s what Joe could have said. That’s not what he did say. Instead, he urged the MLB franchise to get the hell out of Georgia. I’ve interlineated a few helpful comments:

I think today’s professional athletes are acting incredibly responsibly. I would strongly support them doing that. People look to them. They’re leaders. Look at what’s happened with the NBA, as well. [Editor: Is he talking about disrespecting the flag or selling out to China?] Look what’s happened across the board. The very people who are victimized the most are the people who are the leaders in these in these various sports and it’s just not right. [Editor: Is Joe stereotyping black men as good athletes?  Why, yes, I think he is.]

This is Jim Crow on steroids what they’re doing in in Georgia and 40 other states. [Editor: Again, Georgia is expanding opportunities to vote.  What really agitates Biden, et al., is a request that voters provide some ID for absentee ballots.  Nobody’s getting hanged from a tree or having a cross burned on his lawn.]

What it’s all about[.] … Imagine passing the law saying you cannot provide water or food for someone standing in line to vote. [Editor: This is a lie.  Politically aligned groups or people cannot use food or drinks as bribes for people waiting in line.  It’s standard election law.] You can’t do that. Come on!

Or you’re gonna close a polling place at five o’clock when working people just get off. [Editor: This is such a blatant lie that the day before Biden appeared on ESPN, the Washington Post was forced to give it “Four Pinocchios.”  The law actually maintains voting hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and also expanded early voting.]

This is all about keeping working folks and ordinary folks that I grew up with from being able to vote.

Thanks in part to Biden’s toxic combination of lies and encouragement, the MLB franchise decided on Friday to dump Georgia as the venue for the All-Star Game:

This is yet another example of corporations wielding their vast power to move the political needle left. (You can watch Tucker Carlson excoriate both Biden’s lies and this corporate that practice here.) The only way that it’s going to stop is if people hit these corporations in their bottom line. Stop watching Major League Baseball and stop buying the merchandise that annually sends billions of dollars to the MLB franchises. As long as there are no consequences from them using their market clout and goodwill to manipulate politics, they’ll keep doing it.

Remember, there are only 30 baseball teams, but there are around 80 million Trump voters. We can make the franchise hurt for its decision to weaponize America’s game against the integrity of America’s elections. Trump sounded the same note on Friday, urging his supporters to boycott all the woke corporations that are pushing leftist political agendas.

The 25-year-old man who allegedly killed a Capitol police officer on Friday was a supporter of the Nation of Islam, the extremist group led by Louis Farrakhan, according to NBC News.

Noah Green was fatally shot after ramming his vehicle through a checkpoint at the Capitol, the network reported. He hit two officers, killing one, 18-year Capitol police veteran William “Billy” Evans.

Green was shot after exiting his vehicle with a knife and lunging at officers, a spokesperson for Metropolitan police said at a press conference.

NBC News first reported that Green, an Indiana native, was a supporter of the Nation of Islam. The network cited federal law enforcement officials familiar with the attack.

Green’s Facebook page, which was taken offline after the Capitol attack, showed multiple posts about the Nation of Islam and Farrakhan. In a post on March 17, Green, who described himself as a “Follower of Farrakhan,” said that he has faced personal struggles in recent years and also recently lost his job. He also said that he hoped one day to meet the Nation of Islam leader.

“To be honest these past few years have been tough, and these past few months have been tougher,” Green wrote in the post.

“I am currently now unemployed after I left my job partly due to afflictions, but ultimately, in search of a spiritual journey.”

Of Farrakhan, Green wrote that he “has done miraculous work not just with me, but with the lives of millions.”

“A major goal of mine is to meet this man who has been instrumental on my awakening and life’s work. I am unsure if I’ll ever be afforded that opportunity, but I wanted to write this note for two purposes: to give everyone an update, and in hopes that the note may somehow reach the Minister.”

Green also posted a certificate from the Nation of Islam affiliate in Norfolk, Va. which referred to him as Noah X.

US Aid Reaches Palestinians Who Flunk Anti-Terrorism Vetting

In a new report issued Monday, the US Government Accountability Office (GAO) concluded that the government’s multi-billion-dollar international aid agency did not abide by anti-terrorism requirements in the provision of assistance to the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

In its report, the GAO stated that the US Agency for International Development (USAID) had “ensured that the awards it funded directly went to individuals and organizations that were checked for links to terrorism” over a four year period covering 2015-19.

However, the report continued, “USAID did not ensure that awards these entities made to others, known as subawards, were compliant with antiterrorism requirements.”

The report’s analysis of grants made to third parties by Palestinian recipients of US financial assistance showed that in 245 cases, there were questions over the ultimate destination of the funds. USAID did not properly ensure that the Palestinian organizations initially receiving the money were vetting those groups to whom they made grants for any terrorism links, the report said.

“According to a 2010 USAID [Judea and Samaria] and Gaza program notice, prime awardees are required to ensure that applicable vetting approval is obtained before a subaward is made,” the report noted.

Commenting on the GAO’s findings, USAID said it was improving its procedures, but stressed at the same time that no examples of funding to organizations linked with terrorism were discovered in the report.

“We are already taking steps to increase oversight of subawardees in the future,” a USAID spokesman told the Washington Free Beacon on Thursday, adding that the GAO “found no cases of USAID funding to parties who failed vetting.”

The GAO report urged — as US funding to the Palestinians resumes under President Joe Biden’s Administration — that USAID from now on “verify prime awardees have procedures to ensure compliance with requirements before making subawards.”

What’s More American than Coke and Baseball?

Until very recently, it would have been hard to imagine anything more iconic of American life than Coca-Cola and baseball. Today both remind me of Benito Mussolini’s corporatist – aka, fascist — game of merging of state and corporate power. The CEOs of these operations should hang their heads in shame and fire their public-relations teams. So should the CEOs of Delta and American Airlines, Black Rock, Cisco, American Express, and American Airlines, who have promoted President Biden’s false assertions that tightening election procedures to bring them back into line — and in accord with those of civilized Western governments elsewhere — is racist voter suppression. I’m fed up with this never-ending sham: partisan power grabs to weaken the most important features of American life being cloaked in virtuous anti-racism.

The immediate target of these corporate actions was efforts by Georgia and Texas to revise their election laws, laws which in many states have resulted in widespread disbelief that the 2020 elections were conducted on the up and up. When people believe election procedures are untrustworthy, it shatters voluntary acceptance of the election results. Under pressure from racist propagandists of the left and using COVID as an excuse, jurisdictions in several states so loosened the election rules that widespread fraud was made easier. One state in particular was Georgia, where asleep at the switch (or corrupt — your choice) officials permitted the sloppy, untrustworthy, opaque, and disputed election procedures.

In an effort to prevent a repeat, Georgia enacted a new election law. (In pdf form it’s 104 pages, and that makes it unlikely to me that any of the corporate bleating about it was made with knowledge of its contents.) Their response was certainly occasioned by a weak-kneed response to a small but loud group‘s pressure. In Tom Wolfe’s words, they successfully mau-maued the companies’ flak catchers.

Almost immediately upon its passage, President Biden attacked it as “Jim Crow in the 21st Century” and “a blatant attack on the Constitution.”

“Instead of celebrating the rights of all Georgians to vote or winning campaigns on the merits of their ideas, Republicans in the state instead rushed through an un-American law to deny people the right to vote.”

He added: “This law, like so many others being pursued by Republicans in statehouses across the country, is a blatant attack on the Constitution and good conscience.”

One of the key provisions of the new law ensures ID requirements for requesting mail-in ballots. Seems to me this is a rather basic rule if votes from only eligible voters are to be counted. Race baiters love loose election procedures which make fraud almost certain and regularly (contra the evidence) target ID requirements, arguing absurdly that this suppresses the black vote. It’s a preposterous argument which ignores the fact that obtaining an ID is easy everywhere and a necessity for things like COVID vaccinations, drivers’ licenses, gun purchases, welfare benefits, medical treatments, air travel, and more.

Rasmussen Reports asked, “Should voters be required to show photo identification such as a driver’s license before being allowed to vote”? The answer should put paid to the claim that it’s unduly burdensome:

1000 National Likely Voters – Yes

White – 74%

Black – 69%

Other Non-White – 82%

All Voters – 75%

Georgia is not the only state shocked into writing more transparent, enforceable, and sensible laws to limit election fraud. Iowa has done so and per the BBC:

“There are currently 253 similar bills in 43 states, according to the left-leaning Brennan Center for Justice think tank.”

Following Biden’s lead, the CEO of Coca Cola (a company already in the spotlight for its advice to its workers to “be less white”) James Quincey chimed in with this pablum:

Voting is a foundational right in America, and we have long championed efforts to make it easier to vote.

We want to be crystal clear and state unambiguously that we are disappointed in the outcome of the Georgia voting legislation. Throughout Georgia’s legislative session we provided feedback to members of both legislative chambers and political parties, opposing measures in the bills that would diminish or deter access to voting.

Our approach has always been to work with stakeholders to advocate for positive change, and we will continue to engage with legislators, advocacy groups, business leaders and others to work towards ensuring broad access to voting is available to every eligible voter in our home state.

Additionally, our focus is now on supporting federal legislation that protects voting access and addresses voter suppression across the country. We all have a duty to protect everyone’s right to vote, and we will continue to stand up for what is right in Georgia and across the U.S.

As an aside, I abhor the corporate use of the term “stakeholders” to cover the reality of partisan pressure. Corporate officials are by law required to consider the interests of shareholders and it seems to me they are not doing so in this case.

He was not alone. Ed Bastian, the CEO of Delta Airlines, like Coke, headquartered in Atlanta, joined in covering their weakness in an unsubstantiated moral claim about a law he probably had not read:

Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian said in a memo to employees Wednesday that the law was “unacceptable” and “based on a lie” of widespread fraud in last November’s election.

Governor Brian Kemp was having none to it:

Georgia’s Kemp shot back on Wednesday.

“At no point did Delta share any opposition to expanding early voting, strengthening voter ID measures, increasing the use of secure drop boxes statewide, and making it easier for local election officials to administer elections — which is exactly what this bill does.

“The last time I flew Delta, I had to present my photo ID,” Kemp said in a statement. “Today’s statement by Delta CEO Ed Bastian stands in stark contrast to our conversations with the company, ignores the content of the new law, and unfortunately continues to spread the same false attacks being repeated by partisan activists.”

Delta declined to comment further or specify which parts of the bill it tried to change. Maybe, instead of just running with these statements, reporters should demand that Quincey and Bastian specify their complaints. (Who am I kidding?)

The shuffling parade of weak corporate leaders continued.

There was American Express CEO Steve Squeri, who announced his company stands “against any efforts to suppress voting.” Black Rock’s Larry Fink, expressed concern about efforts that could limit access to the ballot.” And Cisco’s CEO Chuck Robbins: “Governments should be working to make it easier to vote, not harder.” None of these corporate wizards points to anything in the law that suppresses voting or makes it harder to vote. Indeed, they couldn’t because it doesn’t. What the law does try to do is strengthen accountability to make certain only eligible voters can vote and that their votes are securely kept and honestly counted.

This reminds me so much of the self-congratulatory, meaningless, signs that appeared on lawn signs in my wealthy neighborhood last year, announcing. “Hate has no home here.” As if it does in the rest of the neighborhood, which lack such signaling. As if the signs don’t express contempt for and claim moral superiority over those of us who don’t dot our lawn with vapid signs like this.

The corporate kneeling to BLM and Stacey Abrams, who never accepted her election defeat, continued with Major League Baseball, which announced it’ll move the All-star Game and draft out of Atlanta because it opposed the election law. I don’t know where they plan to hold it, but it certainly must not be in New York, which provides for fewer days of permissible early voting than Georgia. Nor can it be in Delaware (Biden’s home state) which doesn’t permit no-excuse absentee ballots like Georgia’s does.

The corporatist ninnies at American Airlines also are attacking Texas’s new election law, and they should know not to mess with Texas.

Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick slammed American Airlines on Thursday evening after the airline called out the state’s new security measures to protect elections [snip] “Earlier this morning, the Texas State Senate passed legislation with provisions that limit voting access,” American Airlines said in a statement that echoed remarks made by leftists who have attacked recent measures to secure elections across the country. “To make American’s stance clear: We are strongly opposed to this bill and others like it.” [snip] As Lt. Governor of Texas, I am stunned that American Airlines would put out a statement saying ‘we are strongly opposed to this bill’ [Senate Bill 7] just minutes after their government relations representative called my office and admitted that neither he nor the American Airlines CEO had actually read the legislation,” Patrick said. “We heard these same outcries claiming voter suppression in 2011 when Texas passed the photo voter ID bill. In fact, just the opposite occurred. Voter turnout in Texas soared from 7,993,851 in 2012 to 11,144,040 in 2020, a 39 percent increase. Gubernatorial election voter turnout has increased by 76 percent since photo voter ID was passed.”

Brian Kemp was just as dismissive of Major League Baseball’s decision to move its all-star game and draft out of Atlanta.

As MLB caves to themes of the woke left, the public should know how Georgia’s voting laws stack up against New York’s — where Major League Baseball is headquartered. In New York there are only 10 days of early voting under the Election Integrity Act. Georgia now has 17 days of mandatory early voting, with the option of two additional Sundays. New York requires an excuse for absentee voting. Georgia does not. And while New York just enacted automatic voter registration in December, Georgia has had it in place for years. Let’s be clear: MLB’s decision is not about access to voting. It’s about a lack of courage to stand up to the lies of a radical mob hellbent on distorting the truth for political gain. If MLB is worried about access to the ballot box, they should check their own backyard. They may be afraid of Jos Biden and Stacey Abrams, but I’m not.

Punch back twice as hard, like Kemp and Patrick, against efforts to undercut stronger election integrity. I’d skip the MLB’s All-Star game, switch to another beverage, and check my stock portfolio to be sure the CEOs of the companies I invest in were smarter, stronger, and more honest than these guys are.

Braves Cover All-Star Logo on Jerseys, Shift Hats

(AP) The Atlanta Braves looked a little patchwork in their second game of the season.

The All-Star Game patch that appeared on the right sleeve of the Braves’ jerseys during opening day was sewn over Saturday against Philadelphia at Citizens Bank Park. The same logo was gone from their hats, too.

The uniform change came a day after Major League Baseball announced that this summer’s All-Star Game was being moved out of Atlanta over the sport’s objections to sweeping changes to Georgia voting laws.

It was easy to spot the change on the jersey, with the outline of the All-Star patch hastily covered over. The Braves still have a patch on their left sleeves marking the 150th anniversary of the franchise.

The summer event had been scheduled for July 13 at Truist Park in Atlanta.

“I’m disappointed that it’s not going to being there,” Braves manager Brian Snitker said before a 4-0 loss to Philadelphia. “But I’m focused on playing baseball and what we’ve got going on this season. Other than being disappointed, that’s all I have to say on it.”

Said Atlanta pitcher Charlie Morton, in his 14th season big league season: “It’s about more than just the guys in the clubhouse. It’s about the city of Atlanta, the state of Georgia, the Braves organization, people coming in from all over the country and the businesses in the area seeing a boost.”

“I’m disappointed for the Braves organization and those who are local who would have benefitted seeing the influx of business and excitement in the area. It’s a bad situation. Some of the guys who are likely to be on the team, it would have been nice to represent the team in their home park. People would have been able to see what was done in the ballpark,” he said.

“Other than that, I don’t know what to say about it. It just stinks,” he said.

A new site for the game hasn’t been announced.

MLB said the All-Star Game festivities will still feature a planned tribute to late Braves Hall of Famer Hank Aaron, a civil rights hero. Houston manager Dusty Baker, who played with Aaron in Atlanta, and several others have suggested the event be held in Milwaukee — Aaron began his career with the Milwaukee Braves and finished with the Milwaukee Brewers.

“I think Major League Baseball made a good decision,” said Brewers manager Craig Counsell, who added he’d like to see the game held in Milwaukee.

“Absolutely. I think it would be a thrill for the city, for sure,” he said. “It’s not a good thing for the city of Atlanta and some people who have lost some economic opportunities, but if it’s going to be somewhere else, it would be a thrill for the city to have it here.”

Commissioner Rob Manfred made the decision to move the All-Star Game and events, along with the amateur draft, from Atlanta after discussions with individual big leaguers and the Players Alliance, an organization of Black players formed after the death of George Floyd last year.

“This all came together rather quickly,” said Chicago Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward, who is Black. “We had, I think, a day left in spring training. The Players Alliance, we gathered and got as many people as we could on a call. It was probably less than 50 guys on there out of the 100 or whatever. We had our conversation.

“We knew how we felt about it. We wanted to make sure, I think, that regardless of what happened, the decision was made, that we were there to do what we could in Atlanta,” he said.

Heyward, who grew up in the Atlanta area and was the Braves’ first-round draft pick in 2007, said “it was nice to see someone make a move pretty quickly and try to do it in a positive light, knowing it’s still a tough decision.”

“I think you’re not going to be able to please everybody. I know there’s a lot of people in Atlanta that love baseball and were looking forward to see an All-Star Game there. A Midsummer Classic, I think that’s special, as somebody growing up there and watching a lot of baseball,” he said. “But at the same time, I think when you talk about a message, the people are still out here pushing for equality.”

Trump: ‘Boycott’ Businesses for Opposing Election Laws

Former President Donald Trump has long denounced the “dirty” play of liberal activists pushing cancel culture against conservatives throughout society, but now says “it is finally time” for Republicans and conservatives to do the same and boycott woke businesses offended by the passage of election laws.

“For years the Radical Left Democrats have played dirty by boycotting products when anything from that company is done or stated in any way that offends them,” Trump wrote in a Save America PAC statement Saturday. “Now they are going big time with the WOKE CANCEL CULTURE and our sacred elections.”

Trump calls on boycotts of some of the largest brands in U.S. culture — Coke, Delta Airlines, and UPS.

“It is finally time for Republicans and Conservatives to fight back— we have more people than they do — by far!” Trump’s statement continued. “Boycott Major League Baseball, Coca-Cola, Delta Airlines, JPMorgan Chase, ViacomCBS, Citigroup, Cisco, UPS and Merck. Don’t go back to their products until they relent. We can play a better game than them.”

Trump’s call expounds on a statement Friday night, calling for a boycott of baseball for its pulling of the All-Star Game from Georgia because the state passed legislation to codify election law that Democrats altered earlier in 2020 under the guise of the coronavirus pandemic. That law change was outside the authority of the state lawmakers.

The companies are those who opposed Georgia’s passing election laws, including mandating voter I.D. for requesting a mail-in ballot.

“They didn’t even get approval of our State Legislatures, which is mandated under the U.S. Constitution,” Trump’s statement continued. “They rigged and stole our 2020 Presidential Election, which we won by a landslide, and then, on top of that, boycott and scare companies into submission.

“Never submit, never give up! The Radical Left will destroy our Country if we let them.

“We will not become a Socialist Nation. Happy Easter!

Georgia’s SB 202 regulates absentee ballot drop boxes, which were disproportionately placed in Democrat-controlled counties and districts versus rural Republican ones because of the funding contributions from Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, whose company has banned Trump from its platforms. Also, last week, Facebook even pulled a video interview of the former president because it had voice and words of President Trump.

Georgia’s voting law also requires photo ID for absentee voting and restricts the distribution of free food and water to voters waiting in line. The latter effort seems unusually restrictive, but Republican critics opposed Democrats’ grassroots efforts to give freebies to voters who showed up to vote for their candidates.

Picking up on President Joe Biden’s race rhetoric railing against the passage of voting laws, the CEO of Delta Airlines told employees in a memo: “It’s evident that the bill includes provisions that will make it harder for many underrepresented voters, particularly Black voters, to exercise their constitutional right to elect their representatives.”

Kamala’s Husband Hosts the Virtual Passover From Hell

After twenty minutes of dead air, Biden’s Virtual Passover got underway. Biden, who can only be counted on to remain coherent for short stretches of time before launching into a random tirade, only showed up briefly. And that was the only good thing about Virtual Passover.

Virtual Passover, like the Biden administration, makes no sense. But the Biden administration can’t be expected to ruin every aspect of our lives, without also ruining Passover.

Kamala Harris had been delegated to take over the border crisis, and so her husband, Brentwood entertainment lawyer, Douglas Emhoff, took over the job of ruining Passover.

Dubbed a “Virtual Passover Celebration”, it was not a celebration, it had nothing to do with Passover, but it was virtual. The one thing that the Biden administration can be relied on is to be virtual. And by being virtual, to offer nothing real. Passover wasn’t going to change that.

Hosted by “Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff”, also known as the father of Kamala’s obnoxious stepchildren, his scripted speeches proved that everything he knows about Judaism he learned from leftist anti-Israel radicals and late-night reruns of The Nanny.

Emhoff started out by touting Sharon Brous and IKAR.

Brous is an anti-Israel leftist who heads up IKAR, dubbed by Variety as a “trendy, progressive congregation” whose members include Steven Spielberg. If your synagogue is profiled in Variety, it’s pretty bad: if it’s “trendy and progressive”, it’s even worse. That means IKAR is also exactly the kind of synagogue a Brentwood entertainment lawyer like Emhoff would promote.

Then, Emhoff gave an insider’s wave to his own mention of IKAR.

Brous had delivered the inauguration prayer for Obama and the inaugural prayer for Biden calling for “a justice-driven, multiracial democracy.” Now she was back to ruin Passover.

Sharon Brous is a member of the councils of J Street, and the New Israel Fund: because the only clergy with Jewish last names that are allowed at Biden events are anti-Israel.

When Jews came out against the antisemitic and pro-Farrakhan leaders of the Women’s March, especially Linda Sarsour, Brous falsely claimed that the criticisms were, “a deliberate smear campaign from the far right to delegitimize the march itself.”

“A much greater problem would be if the Jewish community stepped out of activism because we’re afraid that someone on the stage has a position on BDS different than our own,” she complained. To Brous, it would be a “much greater problem” to treat the efforts to destroy the Jewish State as more important than her extremist politics which align her with antisemites.

When Rep. Ilhan Omar and Rep. Rashida Tlaib were barred from entry to Israel, Brous spewed a hateful unhinged rant, falsely claiming that American Jews “have spent years in hive mentality, pouncing on indications of anti-Semitism among Israel’s critics”, accused the Jewish State of a “52-year military occupation of millions of Palestinian people” and ranted that American Jews must “hear Palestinian voices and see what the Israeli government is so intent on members of Congress not seeing.” A terrorist spokesman couldn’t have said it any better than Brous.

Having Brous attend a Passover celebration is like inviting a medieval blood libeler to a seder.

Literally.

Brous signed on to a letter attacking Israel for banning a JVP BDS activist, a hate group that provided space for antisemites, including activists associated with claims that Jews drink blood.

It’s hard to think of anyone that belongs at a seder less than Brous: except maybe Pharaoh.

But before Brous could spew all over the non-seder, Emhoff began by lecturing attendees at a virtual event about the importance of socially distancing and wearing masks.

Nothing says freedom like telling people what to do.

“Passover,” Emhoff then intoned with the dead smile and lifeless cadence of a late-night infomercial host making an unconvincing pitch for a supplement made out of dried kangaroos, “has always been one of my favorite holidays.” Then he relived memories from Nanny reruns of attending a seder in Brooklyn with “plastic cushion covers” and “gelatinous gefilte fish”.

With the obligatory Jewish stuff out of the way, Emhoff shifted over to the “power of the Passover story” in the fight for justice. Naturally, not in the modern day Israelites trying to keep the aspiring killers of their sons from the Gazan vicinity of Egypt from getting to them.

Emhoff insisted that Passover is about the “search for justice”. It’s not. If he had opened a Bible, or a Haggadah, the traditional text of the Passover seder, he would have noted a lack of calls for social justice, and a lot of praises of G-d for liberating the Jews from bondage through miracles.

But attendees at IKAR can’t be expected to actually know anything about Judaism.

In the theology of Tikkun Olam, every Jewish experience and holiday must be universalized, with the relentlessness of Marxist dogma, into class struggle and identity politics. Passover, like Purim, Chanukah, Yom Kippur, and Thursday must be about the search for justice. Emhoff, whose Judaism consists of distant memories of gefilte fish can’t be expected to know any better.

In his opening address, Emhoff failed to mention G-d, but made Women’s History Month the focus of his talk. He complained that Judaism neglected the “midwives who saved Moses” by refusing to implement Pharaoh’s sex-selective post-partum abortion decree. Had those midwives been in California, Kamala Harris and Xavier Becerra would have locked them up.

Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, had made a special point of targeting Jewish families, had addressed the KKK and counted future Nazi eugenicists among her supporters, warning that if “the sickly and weak” are “allowed to propagate”, they will “produce a race of degenerates.”

Pharaoh couldn’t have said it any better than Kamala’s favorite infanticide organization.

But Emhoff was just reading from talking points prepared by the National Council of Jewish Women which, as I exposed in a previous article, has, like Brous, a history of supporting Sarsour, and other antisemitic leftists. His conclusion is that Passover is about “unsung heroes”, just like “the pandemic”. But there’s just one unsung hero in Emhoff’s speech. G-d.

Douglas Emhoff may not believe in G-d. His daughter’s spokesman has insisted that, “Ella is not Jewish.” But then it might be nice if Doug would spare us all the tales of gefilte fish and plastic seat covers while mangling the beliefs of a religion he has no connection to beyond his last name, and using it to promote some of the worst enemies of the Jewish people.

When Moses first confronts Pharaoh, the Egyptian tyrant declares that he does not know of a G-d. Emhoff doesn’t seem any more aware of the existence of a higher power than Pharaoh.

Then Brous came on, all but screaming at the camera that the mission of the seder was to “imagine a more just and loving world”. But there wasn’t much love on the menu. Passover, the radical cleric insisted, was a “political story”. I doubt that Brous believes that there’s an apolitical story anywhere in the world and, like her ilk, can’t think of religion in other than political terms.

Brous’ religion is politics, her deity is social justice, and her messiah is a community organizer.

And so there followed an extended bout of yelling at the camera about justice and oppression, interspersed with meaningless New Age Obamaisms with an audience of one potted plant.

Not Biden. He hadn’t joined the zoom seder yet.

“We all belong to one another,” Brous declared.

That’s the opposite of Passover which is instead the story of the birth of a particular nation through the belief, not in Emhoff’s “all faiths”, but the faith in a particular G-d.

G-d doesn’t just take the Jews out of slavery, but to bring them to Israel. It’s understandable that Brous seems less interested in addressing that awkward part of the Passover story.

But we can be thankful for one small Passover miracle, at least Brous didn’t repeat her Yom Kippur rant in which she falsely claimed that, “The treatment of the Palestinian people, the restriction of their rights, the daily humiliations and the stubborn expansion of settlements threatens to destroy not only Zionism, but to make a mockery of Judaism.”

The only one making a mockery of Judaism is Brous and her extremist political agenda.

The virtual celebration that celebrated nothing closed with Kamala Harris showing up to thank Brous for “all her work”. It was unclear if she meant her work supporting Sarsour or Omar.

The Passover from Hell echoed everything that Jews had come to expect from Obama’s Jewish events, from the anti-Israel clergy to the exploitation and erasure of Jews from their own religion. From Emhoff to Brous, there’s only ever one message, which is that thousands of years of Jewish religion, history, and thought are reducible to the 19th century ideology of the Left.

Pharaoh had set out to kill the Jews. The Left has done plenty of killing, but it also erases Jews. And, worse still, it makes Jews complicit in that erasure. Pharaoh did not allow the Jews to forget that they were slaves. Their modern enslavers convince many Jews that freedom is slavery, and that slavery is freedom, that survival is death, and that suicide is Jewish morality.

Passover is the celebration of G-d’s redemption of the Jews from slavery to freedom. The Biden virtual seder is a call for the Jews and for all Americans to leave behind freedom for slavery.

Car rams 2 officers at Capitol barricade; One Officer Dead, Suspect Dead, Followed Nation of Islam

(TJNNEWS.COM)The U.S. Capitol complex was placed on lockdown Friday after a vehicle attempted to ram through a barricade, injuring two United States Capitol Police officers, according to law enforcement.

A Capitol Police officer was killed Friday after a man rammed a car into two officers at a barricade outside the U.S. Capitol and then emerged wielding a knife, law enforcement officials said.

The suspect died at a hospital, officials said. Both officers were hospitalized, and one of them “succumbed to his injuries,” Capitol Police Acting Chief Yogananda Pittman told reporters.

NBC’s Pete Williams reports on @MSNBC: The suspect in Capitol Police incident was a 25 year old Indiana man named Noah Green. May have lived in Virginia. On his Facebook page, he notes that he is a follower of the Nation of Islam.

Other details have emerged on the suspect from his social media: he lost his job, recently posted on FB he was seeking spiritual help, was despondent.

One of the officers who was injured was taken by police car to the hospital; the other was being transported by emergency medical crews, the officials said.

The officials could not discuss the matter publicly and spoke to the AP on the condition of anonymity.

The U.S. Capitol complex was placed on lockdown after the shooting and staff were told they could not enter or exit buildings.

Law enforcement sources tell told ABC News a suspect is dead after an encounter with Capitol Police after the suspect got out of the car with a knife and was shot by USCP.

Fully vaccinated people can travel safely again, CDC says

(AP) — Add travel to the activities vaccinated Americans can safely enjoy again, according to new U.S. guidance issued Friday.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated its guidance to say fully vaccinated people can travel within the U.S. without getting tested for the coronavirus or going into quarantine afterward.

Still, CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky urged caution and said she would “advocate against general travel overall” given the rising number of infections.

“If you are vaccinated, it is lower risk,” she said.

According to the CDC, nearly 100 million people in the U.S. — or about 30% of the population — have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. A person is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving the last required dose.

The agency had said it would update its guidance as more people got vaccinated and evidence mounted about the protection the shots provide.

“Every day you get more data, and you change your guidance,” said Dr. Ali Khan, dean of the University of Nebraska’s College of Public Health.

The CDC is sticking to its guidance for unvaccinated people to avoid unnecessary travel. If they do travel, the agency says to get tested one to three days before the trip, and three to five days after. People should also stay home and quarantine for seven days after travel, even if their COVID-19 test is negative, the agency says.

The new guidance says:

— Fully vaccinated people can travel within the U.S., without getting tested for the coronavirus or quarantining. People should still wear a mask, socially distance and avoid crowds, the agency says.

— For international travel, the agency says vaccinated people do not need to get a COVID-19 test before leaving, unless the destination country requires it.

— For travelers coming into the U.S., vaccinated people should still get a negative COVID-19 test before boarding a flight, and be tested three to five days after arrival. They do not need to quarantine. The agency noted the potential introduction of virus variants and differences in vaccine coverage around the world for the cautious guidance on overseas travel.

Already, air travel in the United States has been picking back up. Although traffic remains down by nearly half from a year ago, more than 1 million travelers daily have been going through U.S. airports in recent weeks.

Airlines do not require COVID-19 tests or proof of vaccination for travel in the U.S.

The CDC cited recent research on the real-world effects of the vaccines for its updated guidance. Last month, the agency said fully vaccinated people could visit with each other indoors without wearing masks or social distancing. It also said vaccinated people could visit with unvaccinated people from a single household under similar conditions, as long as the unvaccinated individuals were at low risk for severe illness if infected.

The U.S. began its vaccine rollout in mid-December. Vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna require two doses given a few weeks apart. A one-shot vaccine by Johnson & Johnson was given the green light by regulators at the end of February.

State Department Bases Human Rights Report on Findings of Anti-Israel NGOs

The U.S. State Department this week released its annual reports on human rights around the world, with Israel one of the nearly 200 countries and territories reviewed.

Most of us simply ignore the reports as just another stack of boring government documents, but they are the most popular item on the State Department’s website, accessed by over one million people each year.

The truth of the matter is that the reports influence U.S. foreign policy, and that is a very important issue for Israel.

“The U.S. Congress passed a law over 40 years ago requiring the secretary of state to prepare these reports and transmit them to the Congress each year,” the State Department notes. “Lawmakers take the information into account in drafting legislation, approving foreign aid, and making other policy decisions.”

Those reports cover the human rights conditions in countries and regions outside the U.S. and report on individual, civil, political, and worker rights, as set forth in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Every country is studied, so even benignly friendly countries to America like Canada or the Bahamas are grilled on how their human rights performance.

The bottom line for Israel is right near the top of this year’s report: “The government took steps to prosecute and punish officials who committed abuses within Israel regardless of rank or seniority.”

In a nutshell, that shows the strength of Israel’s democratic tradition of law and order. The U.S. recognizes that Israel takes human rights seriously.

But the report on Israel is much, much longer and chock full of accusations of human rights abuses that make it seem like the Jewish State is a serial abuser.

That happens because by its very nature, the report is compiled from all the data the State Department receives on rights violations, whether or not the facts are confirmed. A U.S. Embassy staffer in Tel Aviv who compiled the information for the report said they look for trends in society, not necessarily individual incidents reported in the press.

While that might be true, the staffer said the authors of the State Department report often felt obligated to report on isolated incidents if they got widespread coverage in the press and appeared in the submissions received from the NGOs who sent in reports.

And who submits data for the report? All of the so-called “human rights” organizations that operate in Israel, including those with heavily anti-Israel agendas and bias, like B’Tselem, which earlier this year decided that Israel is an “apartheid” state, and Breaking the Silence, which is trying to get IDF officers charged with war crimes.

Few, if any, pro-Israel NGOs compile reports for the embassy, and the result is that the information given for the report is dominated by data from organizations that are known to actively seek out Israel’s warts and ignore the positives.

The two left-wing NGOs, which rely heavily on foreign government funding for their activities, are joined by many other organizations with anti-Israel bias, and the result is that the people who compile the reports are confronted by waves of so-called “evidence” of Israel’s alleged abuses.

In the end, even the State Department acknowledges that Israel’s success as a strong democracy that values human rights might be the cause of the negative content in the reports.

“It may seem surprising that countries with good human rights records often have long reports, but there is simply more information available because their societies are more transparent — more likely to have a free press reporting on abuse allegations, an open legal system, and active labor unions and human rights advocates,” the State Department says on its website.

Illegal Border Crossings Surge to Highest Level in 15 Years

U.S. authorities caught more than 171,000 migrants at the U.S. border with Mexico in March, according to preliminary data shared with Reuters, the highest monthly total in two decades and the latest sign of the mounting humanitarian challenge confronting President Joe Biden.

It was the highest monthly total since 2006, according to The Washington Post. The massive increase — up from 78,442 in January — has shaken the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency.

The total includes about 19,000 unaccompanied migrant children and 53,000 family members traveling together, the preliminary figures show. Single adults made up roughly 99,000 of the total.

The Biden administration is struggling to find housing for unaccompanied children who have been backed up in crowded border stations and processing centers for days. The shelter system that houses the children has been overwhelmed and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has scrambled in recent weeks to open emergency shelters, including sites in conventions centers in Dallas and San Diego.

People are sneaking into the country without being identified or taken into custody due to border agents being overwhelmed, three U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials told the Houston Chronicle.

While the scenario of migrants evading CBP officials has occurred in the past, the number of so-called “got aways” in recent weeks is the highest in recent memory, two of the officials said.

The officials spoke on the condition of anonymity because they had not been authorized to release the data.

A “got away” is defined as an individual who is not apprehended or turned back to Mexico, and no longer is being pursued actively by Border Patrol.

Got aways often include previous deportees, some with serious criminal records, who pay smugglers to help them evade capture.

CBP has improved its ability to detect illegal crossings in real time after spending more than $1 billion on surveillance technology and camera during the past two decades. Apprehending individuals is another matter, though, especially when migration levels soar.

The present crisis forces border agents to spend significant time transporting and processing families and unaccompanied minors, who generally do not attempt to avoid capture. They often turn themselves in and seek humanitarian refuge in the U.S.

Department of Homeland Security officials said they expect border crossings to leap to a 20-year high in 2021.

Projections had indicated more than 160,000 migrants would be taken into custody in March. That total includes a record of more than 18,000 unaccompanied teenagers and children.

A CBP spokesperson did not respond to the Chronicle’s request for comment.

During a February podcast, Border Patrol Deputy Chief Raul Ortiz said the agency had recorded 1,000 got aways on a single day, adding that was an unusually high number. The figure since has become a new norm, however.

As for single adults apprehended by Border Patrol in March, the most recent data said the number exceeded 90,000.

CBP returned most of those adults to Mexico using the Title 42 public health order in place since March 2020. Although that order has allowed U.S. authorities to reduce the risk of coronavirus infection inside immigration jails, it also has resulted in adults trying to sneak in continually until they succeed.

Two agents in Arizona said the number of got aways has been high in that state, where smaller groups of individuals have hiked through remote areas that would require time-consuming interdictions. Some of those migrants have carried drugs.

One agent said it appeared smuggling organizations were sending “small groups of two, three or four, and that quickly occupies all the agents available to go after them.”

“There are maybe 20 groups a day that are observed, but there’s nobody to try to go after them,” the agent said. “They just keep walking until they’re out of sight.”

Groups of families and children are prioritized by Border Patrol, which then transfers the migrants to agency stations. Those facilities can be two hours or more from remote border areas.

CBP officials said groups of 100 or more family members and unaccompanied minors are arriving in greater numbers, with their crossings usually coordinated by Mexican criminal organizations that charge transit fees or tolls to anyone crossing territory under their control.

Smugglers will send large groups as a diversion to tie up border agents in one area, while narcotics or single adults are moved at other locations, the officials said.

Joe Biden DOT Halts Texas Highway Project Using the Civil Rights Act

JACOB BLISS President Joe Biden’s Department of Transportation (DOT) has paused a highway widening project in Houston, Texas, citing Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as legal justification.

In what could be a first for any administration in this context, the Biden administration is using its federal powers to pause the Texas DOT plan to widen Interstate 45. The administration is doing this as a test to address what it calls a history of “government-driven racial inequalities.”

This comes after complaints from local activities during the federal DOT’s intervention period. The proposed plan, known as the North Houston Highway Improvement Project, is proposed to widen I-45 at three different sections.

The Texas DOT’s completed environmental review of the project in February found it would have a significant impact on the surrounding communities the highway currently runs through. It would reportedly displace a substantial number of black and Hispanic communities, including schools, places of worship, and more than 1,000 homes and businesses.

Biden’s transportation secretary, Pete Buttigieg, claims he will make what he calls “systemic racism” the centerpiece of his time at the department, consistent with Biden’s Executive Order 13985.

Title VI is part of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that prohibits discrimination based on race, color, or national origin in programs that are receiving federal financial assistance.

Federal officials involved in this could eventually allow the project to take place. Politico reported, “the action to freeze it at all, and in particular DOT’s use of civil rights laws to underpin that decision, has buoyed activists on the ground and surprised even seasoned regulators in Washington.”

Permanently blocking this project could pose an uphill battle for the administration. Many lawyers say the administration will have to prove that widening the highway route in specific areas is intentionally discriminating against minority groups. Others note the Biden administration could try to persuade courts to agree that because the highway’s widening affects more minorities than whites, it should be considered a Title VI violation even with no evidence of discriminatory intent.

If the federal DOT would be able to successfully bock the start of this project, countless other federally funded programs could be deemed illegal.

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX), a Democrat who represents the Houston area, joined local officials to challenge the project. In her complaint, she urged holding off on the expansion, including starting on contract solicitation until the federal DOT has time to review the plans, including the civil rights and environmental concerns. Jackson Lee said, “I think this project is the poster child for [the administration’s] policies.”

Fred Wagner, former general counsel at the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), said, “This is a big deal … It just doesn’t happen very often.”

The Pharaoh Syndrome

People knock pop psychologists and their euphemisms, but I often wonder if we wouldn’t be better off borrowing some of their political correctness when dealing with Torah issues.

The four sons, for example, might be better understood as the Gifted Child, the Difficult Child, the Well-Balanced Child and the Inquisitively Challenged Child.

“The Desecrators of the Holy Shabbat” might be more inclined towards meaningful dialogue if we modified our terminology to the Sabbatically Challenged.

Switching to “the Chassidically Challenged” could end much inter-sectarian strife, since it lands us all somewhere along the same spectrum. “The Halachically Challenged” may also be helpful for much the same reason.

There are also some major aspects of the Exodus story that could be better understood if we would just apply the right nomenclature.

Take the Red Sea event that occurred on the seventh day of Passover. It’s difficult to understand Pharaoh when you consider matters superficially. He sees an entire nation led by a pillar of fire over a dry bed between two pillars of water that stand as stone walls, yet like a madman rushes in with his entire army. And it wasn’t like he had no precedent to learn from.

One might be tempted to describe Pharaoh in this situation as a little lacking up there, to be polite. But here is a case where one of those pc terminologies comes in useful. You see, Pharaoh was actually quite intellectually capable. It was just that he was monotheistically challenged.

To be more specific, Pharaoh belonged to a subset of the monotheistically challenged that have a fixation with a perceived natural order. It’s called “Ma’at” in Ancient Egyptian. Similar to the Buddhist concept of kharma. In modernese, “deterministic, materialist reductionism”—which some people still believe physics is all about.

The pathology works like this: When a conflict arises between the natural order and perceived reality (i.e. a miracle), the subject experiences anxiety. Whereas this anxiety could be easily resolved through the assumption of an Omnipotent Force behind and beyond nature, our subject prefers to simply ignore the obvious reality before his eyes in favor for the world-concept of natural order that he has previously integrated into his perception and personality.

This has been known to result in violent death by drowning under the crashing waves of the Red Sea.

We’re All Somewhere on the Spectrum

As you can immediately recognize, now that I’ve provided a more sympathetic view of Pharaoh’s personal difficulties, he becomes so much easier to relate to. After all, we all do the same thing all the time. It’s called “worry”.

Worry is a state where we ignore the obvious, perceived reality in favor of a warped, unsubstantiated view of how we imagine the natural order to be. We imagine our life as a struggle between our own competency and the laws of physics, commerce and social acceptance. And if that were the true reality, we really would have a lot to worry about.

The obvious reality is that our daily life is full of miracles straight from Above. We have very little control over where we end up and what we have to do there.

Physics doesn’t have much say, either. That’s just the mode of transport. We only need to do our best with whatever we are given and have confidence in the Director Of It All that He knows what He’s doing. And if we mess up, say sorry, have confidence that He’s good and cares for us, and get on with things.

But instead, we worry.

Why do we worry? Because we don’t perceive the miracles. Why don’t we perceive the miracles? Because we see this natural order going on all around us, and if there is a natural order, then miracles could not have happened, right? After all, don’t miracles mean that nature’s laws are temporarily trashed, that life becomes totally weird, and G‑d’s voice is heard bellowing, “Tzvi Freeman, take note! This is a miracle!”?

Wrong. That’s just the Pharaoh inside us all over again. Perhaps somewhat more subtle, but Pharaoh nonetheless.

Monotheism means believing that the natural order is not an absolute set of rules to either play by or break by. Believing there is One Infinite Force behind all things means acknowledging that He can be found doing His thing anywhere—by the rules or not by the rules. Nothing stops Him from getting His way—no supervising committee, no appeal board, no shareholders, no mother-in-law. Not even The Natural Order.

That’s just a façade. It’s really all just Him.

The prognosis? According to the prophets, we eventually grow out of this.

That’s what the prophet Micah was hinting at when he said, “As the days when you left Egypt, so I will make you see miracles.” Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Lubavitch explained, “As the days when you pointed at the Red Sea splitting and said, ‘This is my G‑d doing this!’ —so then, in those times when we will leave this exile, I will let you see the even more wondrous miracles that are happening right now every day in your daily life.”

We can open our minds and try to start seeing reality that way right now. And stop worrying.

When a convicted cop-killer gets to help ‘re-imagine’ policing

Mandated by New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo, all 500 police agencies throughout N.Y. were tasked with holding public meetings in order to gather input about how best to operate. The participants in the Ithaca initiative chose to basically disband the police department and replace it with a hybrid group of armed and unarmed de-escalation people who would replace the traditional way of policing.

Fifty-six-year-old Richard Rivera is alive and healthy. He has a girlfriend and a nice job working for a non-profit in Ithaca, and he also sits on the committee called Re-Imagining Public Safety.

Robert Walsh is dead.

Walsh was a decorated, twelve-year veteran police officer in New York City. He had four children and a wife in 1981 when he was murdered, execution-style, by Rivera in a Queens, New York bar robbery gone bad.

Walsh had just finished his 3-11 tour of duty and was having a beer after work at the BVD Bar and Grille on Flushing Avenue when Rivera and several others entered the bar, guns drawn, in the commencement of a robbery. As Walsh moved to thwart the men, Rivera shot him in the shoulder. The impact disarmed Walsh and put him on the floor, writhing in pain and begging for his life. Rivera put the barrel of his gun to Walsh’s head and executed him on the barroom floor.

Rivera served 39 years in prison for murdering Robert Walsh.

Walsh was a father of four. They all grew up without their father. This is what one daughter had to say some thirty-plus years later about her dad:

Today is my Dad’s Birthday. What memories I have of you are never lost. If I try real hard I can still hear what your voice sounds like. I always think of how better my life would have been if I was lucky enough to still have you in it. I think of what kind of relationship we would have had. I know you have watched over Ella in her times of need. Thank you Daddy! I hope you always watch me and my family and keep us in your embrace. I will talk with you soon. Love you.

This is what the New York City police commissioner had to say about this tragedy in 1981: “It’s ironic that a cop can get a death sentence for being a cop, but there are no death penalties for people who kill cops.”

Robert Walsh is still dead. By now he has a host of grandchildren whose births he missed, concerts he will not hear, and graduations he will not attend. It’s a family of children he will never know, never influence, love, or fawn over because he is gone, only a memory.

The City of Ithaca, NY is Re-Imagining Public Safety with input from a convicted cop-killer. This is my version of re-imagined public safety. I believe that the public would be much safer if Mr. Rivera were dead and Officer Walsh were very much alive as a retired NYPD police officer, perhaps living in retirement in Ithaca and being a member of the Re-Imagining Public Safety Committee, with all of the knowledge and experience he would have brought to that endeavor. But that is not the world in which we live.

Those in Ithaca who support this, defend it, even celebrate it ought to be recognized for the vile, twisted human beings they are. Instead, Ithaca, ten square miles of insanity surrounded by reality, will forevermore be the crack in their famous gorges that apparently allowed Satan to escape to the Earth’s surface, in the form of those who believe that this is a good idea.

Joe Biden ‘Infrastructure’ Bill Includes $20 Billion Fund to Destroy ‘Racist’ Highways

President Joe Biden’s proposed $2.5 trillion infrastructure bill includes funds to actually destroy infrastructure, according to reports.

The White House cited the Claiborne Expressway in New Orleans and Interstate 81 in Syracuse, New York, as two problematic highways going through black neighborhoods they would support destroying.

Biden’s mention of the Claiborne Expressway thrilled New Orleans activist Amy Stelly who has worked to destroy the highway.

“I’m floored,” she said to the Washington Post. “I’m thrilled to hear President Biden would call out the Claiborne Expressway as a racist highway.”

The White House fact sheet plans $20 billion to “reconnect neighborhoods” suffering from current infrastructure and make sure all new projects “advance racial equity and environmental justice.”

The concept of the injustice of racist infrastructure continues spreading throughout the Biden administration as they work towards racial equity across government.

“Black and brown neighborhoods have been disproportionately divided by highway projects or left isolated by the lack of adequate transit and transportation resources,” Biden’s Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg wrote on social media in December, promising to focus energy on “righting these wrongs.”

In March, Buttigieg’s department sent a letter asking Texas to pause an interstate expansion in Houston while they investigated racial justice complaints.

During his Senate confirmation hearings in January, Buttigeg promised to fight racial injustice in infrastructure.

“I also recognize that at their worst, misguided policies and missed opportunities in transportation can reinforce racial and economic inequality by dividing or isolating neighborhoods and undermining government’s basic role of empowering Americans to thrive,” Buttigieg said in his opening statement.
