In a shocking turn of events, a married rabbi hailing from New York City has been arrested in Israel on charges of ‘rape by deception.’ The Daily Mail of the UK reported on Monday that Rabbi Yosef Mordechai Paryzer, 35, is facing criminal charges for allegedly using a false identity to engage in relationships with multiple women, leaving a trail of heartbreak and betrayal in his wake. The case has garnered widespread attention as the extent of his double life as a secular dating app user became public, the Daily Mail report added.

The allegations against Paryzer are deeply troubling, with claims that he used fake names, including ‘Jake Segal,’ to set up online dating profiles on platforms like Tinder and Bumble, as was indicated in the Daily Mail report. What’s more, he allegedly maintained relationships with multiple women simultaneously, deceiving them about his marital status and identity.

Two of the women who fell victim to Paryzer’s alleged deception filed a criminal complaint of ‘rape by deception’ with the Israeli police. The Daily Mail report indicated that this initial complaint led to a comprehensive investigation, resulting in Paryzer’s arrest. Authorities have since interviewed an additional 18 women, and a dozen more have come forward with their own stories of encountering the rabbi.

Originally from Brooklyn, Paryzer relocated to Israel approximately a decade ago and worked as a teacher at a Jewish school. However, he has since been terminated from his position in light of these allegations, the report added.

The accusers have made it clear that they consider consensual relationships obtained under false pretenses, including the perpetrator’s false identity, as a criminal offense amounting to rape, as was reported in the Daily Mail. This interpretation has prompted discussions about the legal and ethical implications of such cases.

Paryzer’s alleged modus operandi involved presenting himself as a single man living with roommates while working for a non-profit organization as a trainer for guide dogs for the blind. According to the Daily Mail report, this fabricated backstory was used to deceive unsuspecting women into believing he was available for a genuine romantic relationship.

One woman, who met Paryzer on Tinder, initially thought he seemed ‘very normal.’ Their budding relationship led to discussions about a future together after a few months of dating. However, the Daily Mail reported that she soon began to notice red flags in their interactions. Paryzer consistently avoided inviting her to his apartment and refused to spend weekends together, citing the need to observe the Jewish Sabbath and the presence of roommates, the report added.

The truth came to light when the couple had a heated argument roughly a month ago, as was indicated in the Daily Mail report. In a bid to resolve the dispute, the woman decided to visit Paryzer’s supposed residence. To her astonishment, she discovered that he did not actually live there.

Recalling the names of two women Paryzer had mentioned and following them on Instagram, the woman managed to track them down, as was stated in the Daily Mail report. These women revealed that they were either currently dating the rabbi or had recently ended a relationship with him. As they began to piece together more names, the women uncovered a network of individuals who had been involved with Paryzer through his various fake identities, the Daily Mail report added.

In a brave move, the women decided to confront Paryzer by inviting him to one of their apartments, where several of the alleged victims were present, the report added. They demanded the truth from him. Initially, Paryzer admitted to dating all the women and claimed he was lost and depressed.

However, as the conversation continued, the women made a startling discovery: Paryzer was not only a serial dater but also a rabbi and a married father of two young children, one of whom had recently been born, as was reported by the Daily Mail. This revelation left the women deeply shocked and betrayed.

In response to the allegations, a lawyer for Paryzer argued that while his actions may have been immoral, they did not constitute criminal behavior.
