NYPD Still Searching for Suspect in Alleged Abduction of Woman in Gravesend Section of Bklyn

Edited by: TJVNews.com

The New York City Police Department are still in pursuit of an unknown suspect who allegedly kidnapped a woman in the Gravesend section of Brooklyn, according to NYPD Crime Stoppers on Sunday.

People.com reported that the Crime Stoppers account tweeted that the “kidnapping” incident occurred on the corner of Avenue W and Stillwell Avenue, near the Marlboro Housing Project in the Gravesend at approximately 1:45 a.m. on Friday, and that the suspect is a male with a late model Toyota minivan.

Police said that the unknown victim is in her 20s, and described her as being approximately 5’5”, around 120 pounds, and having long hair, according to a report on Gothamist.com.  Investigators said she was last seen wearing a striped shirt, blue skirt and white sneakers. The suspect then picked her up and carried her to his van before taking off on Stillwell Avenue.

The kidnapper is believed to be a male in his 30s, about 5-foot-10-inches tall and weighing 175 pounds, People.com reported.  Pictures captured of the incident show him wearing a black long-sleeved shirt, dark pants and black shoes

Police also released a set of photos of the incident, showing the suspect waving his arms to the woman on the street, People.com reported.  A second photo showed the suspect holding what appears to be the alleged victim in his arms as he carried her to his car.

Speaking to the New York Post, a high ranking source in the police department said that investigators  assigned to the case were not able to identify the woman who was allegedly kidnapped and had no information as to whether she knew or was familiar with the suspect.

“She didn’t appear to be struggling like you would if it was a stranger,” the source told the Post.

The source also told the Post that as part of their investigation, police are canvassing videos in the area to see where the man and woman came from before the incident happened, as was reported by People.com. The source added that, “It’s kind of a mystery now.”

Police are offering a $3,500 reward to anyone who provides any information that could lead to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
