The COVID-19 pandemic has finally come to an end, bringing relief and a sense of normalcy to people’s lives.

However, it seems that not everyone is aware of this development, or maybe they are living in the past, forever stuck in 2020, apparently.

A phone message you hear when calling far left radical Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s office in Washington, D.C., suggests that her team is still operating under outdated guidelines, NY Post reported.

When callers reach Ocasio-Cortez’s office, they are greeted by a pre-recorded message from a male staffer. The message begins by thanking the caller for contacting the office and then proceeds to state that social distancing is crucial to prevent the spread of COVID-19. It further informs callers that staff members in both the congresswoman’s D.C. and district offices will soon transition to telecommuting, conducting meetings and other business remotely through phone or video.

However, there is a problem with this message—it is inaccurate and outdated by at least nine months.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) had dropped the social distancing requirement long ago.

The CDC acknowledged that the majority of adults now possess some level of immunity to the virus, either through vaccinations, prior infections, or both. The guidance also stated that individuals who have been exposed to COVID-19 but are not infected no longer need to quarantine, regardless of their vaccination status.

In fact, President Biden himself declared back in September of the previous year that “the pandemic is over.”

Congress passed a law to officially end the COVID-19 emergency on May 11, three years after former President Donald Trump declared it, granting the executive branch additional power to allocate funds for combating the virus. The World Health Organization (WHO) even announced earlier this month that COVID-19 is no longer a global health emergency.

Given these developments, the message from Ocasio-Cortez’s office appears out of touch with the current reality. Some New York officials, such as Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, suggested that Ocasio-Cortez and her staff simply neglected to update the voicemail. Malliotakis emphasized that all federal employees should return to their offices, as they are paid to work rather than stay at home.

Interestingly, Ocasio-Cortez’s federal office is not the only one caught in a time warp.

Public Advocate Jumaane Williams’ office, intended to assist New Yorkers with their complaints, has been largely inactive since the pandemic began in 2020. Even after lockdowns and social distancing rules were lifted, Williams allowed many employees to continue working remotely. Callers to Williams’ office are greeted with a recorded message stating that the office is still working remotely, although a recent update claims they are now operating on a hybrid schedule.

It seems that some elected officials and their staff have not adjusted to the changing circumstances brought about by the end of the pandemic.

While Rep. Ocasio-Cortez’s office declined to comment on the matter, critics argue that it is essential for these offices to stay up to date and return to in-person. work now that the pandemic is behind us. The world has moved on, and it’s time for these offices to catch up.

It can not be confirmed if staff members are in AOC’s office by TJV News, so it is possible that they simply never updated. One can also wonder if AOC’s far left staff are “virtue signaling” and want to remind people of the COVID pandemic forever.
