Man & Woman Killed in Separate Stabbings in NYC as Weekend Approaches

By: David Ben Hooren

Friday, August 26th in New York City was like every other day, but city residents were soon to learn that two people were stabbed to death in vicious attacks. As the crime spree continues to spread unabated and New Yorkers and their elected officials grapple with bail reform measures, it was reported by the New York Post that in the middle of an early morning clash outside the Port Authority subway station in Manhattan’s Hell’s Kitchen area, a 49-year old man was stabbed to death when he bumped into a stranger.

The NYPD told the Post that just before 1:00 am, a fight ensued between Jesus Ramirez, 28, and    Guarionex Torres at West 44th Street and Eighth Avenue. During the melee Torres was knifed in the neck and groin area.  Torres was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police sources said that video surveillance footage from the crime scene shows Torres riding up to Ramirez on a Citi Bike. The sources told the Post that the two are seen exchanging words before Ramirez stabs Torres. Cops said that when the two men bumped into one another, tensions were ignited and that caused the physical altercation.

Cops also said that Ramirez was arrested on the scene and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon, but is claiming self-defense, the Post reported. Sources said that Ramirez has a previous arrest for trespassing in 2011 as a 17-year-old.

NYPD sources also said that Torres had more than 30 previous arrests. Cops told the Post that only two weeks ago, Torres was arrested for swinging a hatchet at people near the Port Authority Bus Terminal, as was reported by the Post.

Sources said that he was charged with menacing and criminal possession of a weapon, and cops said that brass knuckles were recovered at the scene as well as a knife.  The Post reported that photos show a Citi Bike on the ground near the taped-off scene.

In yet another stabbing, law enforcement authorities said that a young woman was found stabbed to death inside her Queens apartment Friday morning, the Post reported.

The woman was discovered with multiple stab wounds to her chest just before 7 a.m. inside her fifth-floor apartment on 41st Road near Frame Place in Flushing, the Post reported. Police sources said that she was in her 20s and was Asian.

Police told the Post that she was pronounced dead on the scene. Police also said that the death appears suspicious but was not immediately ruled a homicide.

A male roommate was briefly questioned by police but as of Friday afternoon, no arrests have been made in the case.

Pending family notification, the woman’s name was not immediately released.
