(A7) Former President Trump lambasted the Jan. 6 House committee hearings investigating his purported role in the riots on Capitol Hill, during a “Save America” rally in Arizona last Friday. Referring to the hearings as a “hoax,” Trump ridiculed former deputy press secretary Sarah Matthews for claiming she was “heartbroken” following the riots. “But three weeks [later] she wrote telling us how much she appreciated the US President,” he said.

Trump also attacked former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson for alleging that he attacked a Secret Service agent who tried to prevent him from joining protesters on Capitol Hill, calling her out for claiming he had thrown food in the White House.

“I don’t throw food anywhere. I eat the food, which is a problem. I’d probably be better off if I threw it,” jested the former President.

Trump said the “fake news media” was out to get him and that the second he decided to leave politics, they would select their “next victim.”

“I’m doing it for you, and it’s my honor to do it,” he said. “Because if I don’t do it, I truly believe our nation is doomed to become another Venezuela, Soviet Union or … another large-scale version of Cuba, where all is lost, and there is no hope.”
