It appears that flying in private jets is anathema for environmental activists as the carbon footprint it generates can be deleterious, but that is certainly not true for all people.  The rich and famous are still flying on private jets as they travel around the globe.

According to a December 2021 report on the simpleflying.com website, Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich has added a Boeing 787 to his private jet fleet. Among other things, Abramovich is the owner of the Chelsea Football Club. The billionaire decided to give up his 767-300ER for the 787-8, which has been reconfigured to carry 50 select passengers, according to the report. Abramovich will become the third person to own a private 787, along with the Mexican government and a charter firm.

Abramovich’s private 767 was known as ‘The Bandit’ due to the black ‘Zorro mask’ paint on the front, but now the billionaire has shelled out a cool $350 million for the new Boeing 787-8. Forbes Russia has reported that the price of the plane includes $100 million for a luxury cabin and other additions. But then again, Abramovich’s estimated net worth is $12.9 billion, so this new plane cost a mere “bag of shells.”

The report indicates that Abramovich has “outfitted his 787 with all the bells and whistles imaginable.”  And it is noteworthy to mention that the jet, known as P4-BDL “will seat 50 passengers, 10 security personnel, 10 staffers, and 30 guests, spread over 224 square meters.”

Because Abramovich is concerned about security, there is an onboard defense system on the plane as well.  In private 787s passengers can “expect bedrooms, couch-style seating, a kitchen for fresh food, and several bathrooms,” according to the simpleflying.com report.

The plane that is being replaced, the private 767-300ER is now on sale for $100 million, according to aeroTelegraph.

The 787 brings some notable advantages compared to the 767, according to the simpleflying.com report. They indicate that “the larger cabin means that the plane accommodates more passengers and new features. Importantly, the aircraft has a range of 18,418 km (9,944nm) when carrying 25 passengers. This means journeys from London to Sydney and beyond are well within reach.”

As private jet travel continues to increase at an exponential rate, the Jewish Voice had the distinct privilege of speaking with experts in the field of private plane travel.

The Jewish Voice had the privilege of speaking with private jet broker, Albert Braha.  In a voice reverberating with passion for the private jet industry and his eagerness in ensuring that his clientele have a super-fabulous travel experience, Mr. Braha said that his entrée into the world of private air travel was possible by his previous employers.

“I had worked with a private family, who owned 14 jets. I worked on the apparel side of their business but was not feeling passionate about what I was doing. Thanks to these people, they introduced me to the private aviation solutions industry and I have loved it ever since, “ Mr. Braha observed.

He added that the key to his success as a private jet broker is due to a number of reasons. “In this business, you really need to be honest and totally forthright with everyone you deal with. I’m all about transparency and I hold that as my highest priority. I will do anything to make sure that my customers are not only completely satisfied with their travel experience but are tremendously enthused about it.”

Mr. Braha also noted that his business is predicated upon providing clients with the best overall value and the safest equipment.

He said, “We have experienced a great deal of success in the repeat customer department because we provide the number one service in the world and always at a fair price. I’m constantly engaged in grouping families together during holiday bookings in order to keep costs down as much as is feasible. Yesterday’s prices are not today’s prices.”

Mr. Braha noted that he has the best response times, depending on sourcing and the volume of business. Working with operators that own fleets of planes, Mr. Braha offers his clients the best plane position depending on where they are traveling to.

He noted that the “industry has changed because of Covid. It has opened the door for people to try and fly privately and as such, there has been an enormous surge in demand. And because of that, at times there is a lack of available inventory and we are always looking for more planes.”

Booking a flight for peak holiday travel can be challenging, said Mr. Braha. “If you wait until the last minute, you can’t get a plane as the demand is unreal. That is why I suggest to my clients to book well in advance if at all possible.”

In terms of private plane ownership, Mr. Braha related a story of someone who bought a plane for $9 million and was able to flip it for $11.2 million. He said that many people who purchase a private plane hire a management company who will charter out the plane when not in personal use.

As a native of Deal, New Jersey, Mr. Braha also lived in the city for 14 years. When the dreadful pandemic reared its ugly head, he relocated to Miami but now he is back in New Jersey. Each day he look forward to greeting his clients at the airport and providing everything they need and want for a stupendous trip.   “I do reverse marketing and show the private airport life and it’s just great,” said Mr. Braha.
