Members of the Nevies family on Wednesday evening held a thanksgiving event at the Elazar Junction on the occasion of their return to the community of Elazar, two years after two of their six children were injured in a terrorist car ramming attack there. The residents of the community, family and friends answered “Amen” after Nahum, Noam and their parents recited the blessing “Blessed is He who performed a miracle for us at this place,” and, at Nahum’s request, a shofar was blown.

Nahum Nevies was critically injured in the head in the attack and in life threatening danger, while his sister Noam was moderately injured.. For four months Nahum was unconscious, partially paralyzed and on a respiratior but after that, thanks to his family’s untiring efforts, the prayers of so many, the dedicated staff at Hadassah Hospital and at Beit Levinstein Rehab Center, he managed, through a long and slow process, to reach the point he is at today.

Noam and Nahum’s father said at the event: “Two years ago, our enemies wanted to rejoice and hurt Noam and Nahum. G-d prevented that joy. For the past two years we have been privileged to meet many of G-d’s messengers who have helped and are helping us throughout these stages of recovery. We have gathered to thank the Holy One, Blessed be He for all His kindness and for all His messengers who helped us along the way.”

Nahum and Noam are the grandchildren of Arutz Sheva’s Op-ed and Judaism Editor, Rochel Sylvetsky.
