Kudos to Rep. Ritchie Torres for Supporting Israel

Dear Editor:

I applaud Congressman Richie Torres for speaking out as he has in an opinion piece recently published in the NY Post entitled “ Why I Back Israel Despite Twitter Mob.” Voicing his commitment to the Jewish state’s safety and security while responding to the propaganda and harsh backlash to his commitment to Israel’s sovereignty was clearly the right thing to do.

As a civil rights lawyer of long standing and a former majority leader of the Rockland County Legislature I applaud his courage in speaking out demonstrating the courage we need from elected public officials I join him in unequivically standing with Israel , because as he put it “With sovereignty and security comes the inherent right of self defense. “

Sincerely
Sanford Rubenstein, Esq

Uncertain Future for Camp Hikon?

Dear Editor:

Last week Camp Hikon achieved international notoriety through being smeared by NYS Governor Andrew Cuomo for “discriminating against vaccinated individuals”. This was very gratifying for us, since it highlighted the national hypocrisy whereby it’s OK for colleges across the country to discriminate against unvaccinated students in the fall, but it’s not OK for camps to cautiously “discriminate” and keep vaccinated counselors and campers away from vulnerable unvaccinated campers. Gratifying, yes, but also terrifying. How to reconcile a non-negotiable opening day coming up in 6 weeks with the abrupt political exile of Camp Hikon from NYS?

If you think it might be a good idea to just call the whole thing off and try again next year, consider that not opening this season would send precisely the wrong message. It would tell the world that there’s not a whole lot you can do when things go badly. If we allow ourselves the luxury of becoming victims of our own circumstances, we lose all credibility to set ourselves up as teachers of the youth in navigating future crises. Let’s face it, if we can’t get through this one, we may as well just close our doors for good.

So, yes, we will be opening this summer. But how to make it work? If no more than a few dozen campers were expected, we might be able to rent a farm with a large farmhouse. But the reality is that we’ll be hosting perhaps 100 boys and 100 girls plus ample support staff. It’s improbable any campsite with sufficient housing could be found.

Sincerely
Naftali Schwartz

Israel’s Guardian of Walls

Dear Editor:

For all the criticism of Israel, this is a point everyone should pay attention to – Israel’s Guardian of Walls is shaping up to be the most accurate and precise military operation in modern military history.

The IDF has bombed over 1,000 targets in Gaza, many of them homes, buildings, tunnels & Hamas positions. The number of dead – which sadly includes civilians – is, according to Hamas, 227. IDF says at least 160 are terrorists. That means approx. 60 of the dead were civilians.

Think about this for a moment – over 1,000 bombs dropped on over 1,000 targets and 60 civilians killed. Every life should be protected, but now go tell me that the IDF is disproportionate. The world should be applauding the IDF for what it does, not admonishing it.

Sincerely
Yaakov Katz

Kaepernick Calls For: “No Prisons”, “No Police”…No Brains

Dear Editor:

Colin Kaepernick, the perpetually bended knee multimillion dollar football player, calls for the end to police and prisons, “…by abolishing policing and prisons…we can eliminate white supremacist establishments.” Kaepernick wrote “F*** reform,” in The Demand for Abolition, is advocating instead for forcible take down of all institutions. He parrots BLM’s platform whose leaders openly admit they want to abolish the nuclear family, police, prisons and capitalism. Alicia Garza, BLM co-founder, “We actually do have an ideological frame. Myself and Alicia [Garza] we’re trained organizers, trained Marxists”, BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors. BLM activist Hank Newsome, “If this country doesn’t give us what we want, then we will burn down this system and replace it. We are anti-capitalist.”

Kaepernick just bought a $3.21 million condo in upscale, safe, latte ridden, Tribeca, NYC. He did not rent an apartment next door to a public housing project, or crime ridden inner city block of Baltimore where he can actually meet, interact with and walk down the same streets with those very people who will tell him the idea of defunding or getting rid of police is a sick joke, that they depend upon and value the protection their police officers afford to them, their children, their schools and neighborhood small businesses, that he is out of touch, arrogant, and hypocritical while he lives in his million dollar condo, and can hire private security.

“BLM as an old-fashioned power grab,” American commentator Tammy Bruce, “In reality, this has nothing to do with black lives and everything to do with liberal Marxist anarchists having hijacked, as they always do, an important social issue with which they will undermine the very communities and people they claim to represent.” Kaepernick’s bended knee is breaking our backs. The leaders of BLM and Colin Kaepernick need to take their communist, socialist “revolution” and pack it on back up to failed Venezuela, repressive Cuba, or Communist China where they can live it up on the remains of their capitalist acquired wealth.

Sincerely,
Melvin Aronowitz
