Hold your breath! Despite a heavy barrage of criticism from a wide range of terror groups, Progressives, both American and Israeli, July 1st is still the date that Israel is scheduled to annex portions of Judea and Samaria. Look at your calendar and check the news. A coalition agreement between opposing Israeli political parties, Blue and White and Likud, allows Prime Minister Netanyahu to bring this acquisition move to a vote on that scheduled date. But there have been whisperings, according to the reports from the Jerusalem Post, that a monkey wrench has been tossed into the plans. It appears that B&W’s Benny Gantz, sees handling of the Chinese virus epidemic and unemployment more urgent than extending Israel’s sovereignty over the contested area.
The real players in this scheme of things are President Trump and Jared Kushner, his Special Adviser who doubles as his son-in-law. A two man American team, U.S. Special Envoy for international Negotiations Avi Berkowitz and Scott Leith of the National Security Council were in Israel this past week to discuss this move with Israeli officials. They have returned home to deliberate this matter with their higher ups. At this time Trump is up to his ears with our own country’s major problems, the virus and the destructive civil unrests, we call them….riots, that are ripping our country apart.
It’s understandable that with these issues to juggle and his now problematic re-election on his mind, Trump might want to hold off on the annexation. Throw into this equation, the powerful Progressive Left’s sudden outbursts of blatant Jew and Israel hating verbiage and actions that have not been rebuked by their top elected leaders. Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has charged American Jews as having dual loyalties to the U.S. and Israel.
Congressman Hank Johnson (D-GA) called Jews “termites.” They both fervently support Black Lives Matter (BLM) which had in its platform, “The U.S. justifies and advances the global war on terror via its alliance with Israel and is complicit in the genocide taking place against the Palestinian people.” They can’t state it any clearer than that. The pressure from the organized Left against Israel’s planned move is great. That’s problematical.
We are concerned that after dangerously, patiently and fruitlessly to sit down and arrange border lines with Palestinian leaders for 27 years (after the signing of the Oslo Accords) this is the moment that cannot be lost. Israel must permanently take over Judea and Samaria as part of the land of Israel. While the world is topsy turvy, its concerns on other matters and while Israel still has the support of the United States it must make its move now. If the Progressive Left takes over the leadership of our country after November, this opportunity will be lost forever. We support Prime Minister Netanyahu’s annexing Judea and Samaria and absorbing into the nation of Israel. May G-d bless and watch over them.
