Renowned victim’s rights lawyer Lisa Bloom made $895 per hour working for Harvey Weinstein, according to upcoming book about the Weinstein case written by the NY Times reporters who broke the Weinstein case.
The hourly amount — which varies from attorney to attorney, based on location, the lawyer’s background and the case itself – was revealed in a New York Times report that previewed a soon-to-be-released book about the case against Weinstein, according to Fox Business.
“She Said: Breaking the Sexual Harassment Story That Helped Ignite a Movement” also details how Bloom allegedly exploited her experience with previous clients to build her case against Harvey Weinstein’s accusers, according to clips pulled from a not-yet-released book
Meanwhile, Rose McGowan has called for Harvey Weinstein’s former attorney Lisa Bloom to be disbarred, following revelations that Bloom — a self-described defender of women and the daughter of lawyer Gloria Allred — sought to discredit McGowan and other actresses who have accused the movie mogul of sexual harassment and assault, according to Breitbart News.
She Said, a new book from the New York Times reporters who broke the Weinstein scandal, reportedly reveals that Bloom tried to discredit McGowan by offering to place articles in media outlets that would portray the actress as unstable.
“I feel equipped to help you handle the Roses of the world because I have represented so many of them,” Bloom wrote in a memo to Weinstein that is excerpted in the book, according to Breitbart. The book outlines Bloom’s pitch to Weinstein – that she could use her own familiarity with victims to help him discredit women who had made claims against him, including Rose McGowan.
We can place an article re her becoming increasingly unglued, so that when someone Googles her this is what pops up and she’s discredited.”, Bloom suggested doing to the actress.
McGowan was furious after learning about this and wrote on Twitter: “The evil that was perpetrated on me and others was mind bending and illegal. Lisa Bloom should be disbarred”
Bloom resigned from Weinstein’s team in October 2017.
Like her more famous mother, Bloom has promoted herself as a defender of women, representing victims of harassment and assault.
But her public image as a feminist crusader has collapsed as she has become engulfed in high-profile scandals, Breitbart explained.
The Daily Beast reported in 2017 that Bloom was prepared to leak files about McGowan’s sexual history to journalist Ronan Farrow.
In other developments in the Weinstein case Page 6 reported : a judge recently dropped two counts of predatory sexual assault against disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein with the consent of prosecutors and defense lawyers.
The two counts were trimmed out to “simplify the issues at trial,” Assistant DA Joan Illuzzi-Orbon explained in court papers.
