New York Attorney General Sues Trump Foundation

New York Attorney General Barbara Underwood sued President Donald Trump, three of his adult children, Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump and Ivanka Trump, and the Donald J. Trump Foundation charity on Thursday, acording to CNBC The attorney general, who recently replaced Eric Schneiderman who was ousted after credible allegations of abuse, said that a 20-month investigation found that the charity engaged in “a pattern of consistent illegal conduct.”


Underwood wants the president barred from being able to lead a New York State nonprofit for a decade as well as dissolving the entire Trump Foundation. The attorney general wants the foundation to give its remaining $1 million in assets to other charities. She also wants Trump to to pay $2.8 million or more in restitution and penalties.

CNBC reports that Underwood claims that the Donald J. Trump Foundation engaged in “extensive unlawful political coordination with the Trump presidential campaign,” also alleging “repeated and willful self-dealing transactions to benefit Mr. Trump’s personal and business interests.”

The White House and the Trump Organization did not immediately respond to requests for comment from the Washington Post.
