Labor head tries to distance from Moti Moral, after Supreme Court finds he helped fabricate case accusing attorney of raping 4 women.

Opposition head MK Yitzhak Herzog (Zionist Union) fired his public relations adviser Moti Moral on Tuesday morning, after the Supreme Court found that Moral took part in fabricating a false case accusing an attorney of rape.

“The raped women project” is how the campaign came to be termed that Moral and female complainants in his office led against Attorney Uri Daniel, reports Channel 2 on Tuesday.

The goal was to slander Daniel’s name by building a legal case based on false claims, according to which Daniel committed sexual crimes and raped four different women.

Tension developed between Daniel and the female complainants when they were members in a group for philosophy studies, which the court termed a “cult.”

Daniel left the group due to a disagreement with the group’s leader, and she decided to get him back by convincing three other women in the group to complain with her that he had raped them.

Police launched an investigation into the complaints, and when it discovered that the complaints were false, they passed the information to the court.

The Central District Court ordered the complainants to compensate Daniel to the tune of 1.3 million shekels (over $330,000), at which point they petitioned to the Supreme Court.

It was then that they turned to Moti Moral and he agreed to help them fabricate a false case against Daniel.

Moral’s “raped women project” included steps such as “confessions” by fictitious figures on the social networks claiming they were raped by Daniel, articles in the press with “testimony” from the complainants, complaints submitted against Daniel to the Israel Bar Association’s ethics committee, and protests coordinated with the media in front of Daniel’s office that included signs reading “rapist in the office.”

In an apparent effort to distance himself from association with his public relations adviser, Herzog, the head of the Labor faction in the Zionist Union party that also includes Hatnua, decided on Tuesday to dispense with Moral’s services.
