Rebbetzin Esther Jungreis to recount her personal Holocaust memories before a Connecticut audience on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of Kristallnacht on Nov 9th

Rebbetzin Esther Jungreis, founder and president of Hineni, the internationally renowned Torah outreach organization, will participate in a commemoration of the 76th anniversary of Kristallnacht on November 9th.  Rebbetzin Jungreis will share her riveting personal narrative of unwavering faith in Hashem during the nightmarish years of the Holocaust at The Conservative Synagogue of Westport, Weston and Wilton located at 30 Hillspoint Road in Westport, Connecticut. The event is free and open to the public and the program begins promptly at 4:00 pm.

“Because of the emunah and bitachon that was instilled in me by my dear, revered father and grandfather, who, through their total devotion to Torah study, prayer and chesed, carved a path of me and generations of Jews, we rebuilt after the Holocaust. We never acquiesced to despair and despondency, but rather we rededicated ourselves to rebuilding yeshivos and I founded Hineni to inspire countless Jews to return to their heritage, ” said Rebbetzin Jungreis.

“Coming together as a community to commemorate this horrible time in our history, especially in the presence of a survivor, is meaningful beyond words,” Rabbi Jeremy Wiederhorn of TCS said. “The children of this generation will sadly be the last generation to have personally heard a survivor speak. Then it will be our responsibility to keep the stories alive.”

According to Stacy Kamisar, the program director of the UJA Federation of Westport, the program will commence with a solemn observance of the horrific tragedies that occurred on Kristallnacht (November 9-10 1938) that will be led by local rabbis and clergy.

Rebbetzin Jungreis writes a weekly column for the Jewish Press, the largest Anglo-Jewish paper in the world,  addresses audiences on every continent of the world, and has authored four bestselling books, “The Jewish Soul on Fire”; “The Committed Life”; “The Committed Marriage” and her latest release “Life Is A Test”.  She delivers her weekly Torah classes every Thursday evening at 8:30 pm at the Hineni Heritage Center, 232 West End Avenue, between West 70th and 71st streets on Manhattan’s upper west side and can be seen live in simultaneous internet broadcasts on the Hineni web site; www.hineni.org.

The program has been generously underwritten by Susan and Jesse Wexler in memory of Susan’s father, Morris Turner, a Holocaust survivor.  The UJA/Federation WWWN and Eastern Fairfield County and the Synagogue Council are co-sponsors.
