Approximately 5,000 showed up from throughout the tri-state area, to join in a peaceful pro-Israel demonstration on Manhattan’s 42nd Street. Only a block away, dozens gathered for an also non-violent pro-Palestinian rally.
As the death tolls on both sides of the conflict continuously rise, rallies have been happening all around the world, some more peaceful than others. The tally as of Sunday night was 20 dead on the Israeli side, 18 of whom were soldiers, and dozens of the troops have been wounded since the start of the ground assault. Over 432 Palestinians had been reported dead as of Sunday evening, and more than 3,000 have been injured in the last couple of weeks.
The militants in Palestine have been called on by the United States to end the bloodshed with Israel and adhere to the terms of a cease-fire agreement.
