May 9th is the scheduled launch date for the new ExploreBK.com, a website created by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and Brooklyn tech company Bankslate. The site hopes to lure some of the 54 million people who visited New York last year. The site will offer information on upcoming events, dining and both notable and unheralded landmarks to visit. Among some of the highlighted destinations will be the Barclay’s Center, Coney Island’s famed “Boardwalk”, Marine Park, Brooklyn’s Botanical Gardens and more. The site also hopes to spotlight some of the borough’s unsung attractions like Brooklyn Bridge Park.
Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce president Carlo Scissura says the site will be a one stop shop for all things Brooklyn. He noted how trendy it is for tourists to walk the Brooklyn Bridge in between Manhattan and the 4th largest city in America according to population (if it was an independent city).
He hopes increased knowledge of what Brooklyn has to offer will bring tourists even further into the city beyond the bridge.
