Upon the invitation of Congressman Bob Turner (NY-09), Rabbi David Algaze served as Guest Chaplain for the House of Representatives providing this morning’s daily prayer to open morning business in the House chamber.

“I was honored to invite Rabbi Algaze to Washington to represent the lay leaders of our community and provide the Morning Prayer in the House chamber. Rabbi Algaze is a trusted and respected religious and educational leader in Queens and throughout the United States,” Turner said.

Rabbi Algaze, serves as the Senior Rabbi of Havurat Yisrael Synagogue in Forest Hills, Queens, a position he has held since founding the congregation in 1981. He delivered a message of strength, unity, prosperity, wisdom, peace, and the American dream to the assembly.

“Bless this assembly to steer this great nation to the prominence you have bestowed upon her.  The land where even a humble bicycle messenger can soar to serve in this hall; where every man has dignity and the capacity to prosper. Uphold its preeminence among the nations for its message of freedom is beneficial to all men.” Rabbi Algaze said in his prayer. Following the recitation of the morning Prayer, Congressman Turner thanked the Rabbi on behalf of the House and provided some insight to his colleagues about Rabbi Algaze and the work he has done within the Queens community and nationwide – including his service as the former President of the Association of Sephardic Rabbis of America and as the Founder and President of the World Committee for The Land of Israel.
