Responding to a special request by the Make-A-Wish Foundation, actor Ron Perlman gladly endured an extensive makeup session so that he could recreate his distinctive character from the two ‘Hellboy’ movies and bring a strong dose of happiness to a leukemia-stricken boy.

Six-year-old Zachary, who is doing his best to overcome the life-threatening disease, had asked the Make-A-Wish Foundation – which grants special requests made by children with serious illnesses – to arrange for him to meet the actor who played ‘Hellboy,’ a gigantic demon that overcomes its inherent negative traits to assist others in need. In response, Make-A-Wish contacted Spectral Motion, a special effects company, which approached Perlman to take on the one-time gig.

In addition to meeting Zachary in the guise of Hellboy and remaining in character while treating the child to a meal of burgers and French fries, Perlman stood by as two Spectral Motion makeup artists put their talents to work again and transformed Zachary into a miniature version of the demonic character.

“Zachary loved his visit for two very special reasons. It was Zachary’s wish to meet Hellboy and also to become Hellboy,” Spectral Motion’s Facebook page stated. “When the Make-A-Wish Foundation contacted Spectral Motion with this request, we thought it would be fantastic to have Ron Perlman reprise his role for the day.”

Perlman starred as the loveable but scarily powerful superhero in the live-action “Hellboy” and “Hellboy II: The Golden Army.”

“Ron loved the idea and donned the makeup once more, and also ordered a Hellboy-sized meal of burgers, shakes, and fries for Zachary and his family and the entire Spectral crew to enjoy,” the Facebook page adds. Perlman’s special gesture of kindness was particularly noteworthy given the fact that it takes him approximately four hours to complete the makeup process and fully transform himself into the ‘Hellboy’ character.

“Later in the day, Zachary was transformed into Hellboy with the assistance of our makeup artists Lufeng Qu and Neil Winn,” the Facebook page noted.

“The visit was the second time in the past three weeks Spectral Motion has opened its doors to Make-A-Wish children,” The Hollywood Reporter disclosed. “Another fan, Caleb, got a firsthand look at the animatronics behind some of the studio’s well-known creatures, which also have appeared in X-Men: The Last Stand and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer,” the report adds.
