
Strauss-Kahn had been heading the IMF for three and a half years, and was looked at as a leading French presidential contender, until a housekeeper at the Sofitel Hotel in New York, Nafissatou Diallo, accused Strauss-Kahn of inappropriate sexual behavior.
Although the charges were eventually dropped after Diallo’s credibility as a witness was called into question, Strauss-Kahn did admit to an inappropriate encounter, claiming that it was, in fact, consensual. Sinclair, who currently heads the French edition of the Huffington Post, was a passionate defender of her husband, standing beside him at all points throughout his ideal. The couple are suing tabloid magazine Closer, which was the first publication to break the story of their separation on the basis of invading their privacy. In more recent months, scandal has continued to trail Strauss-Kahn, who has been investigated in connections with a prostitution ring.
