More than 600 people, influential in their fields of real estate, finance, fashion, and entertainment, attended UJA-Federation of New York’s second annual Downtown Division event at Capitale in Manhattan, where they were treated to a riveting live performance by John Legend, and later at an after-party with Questlove in the DJ booth.

The event, geared toward New Yorkers who live, work, or just wanted to spend a great night out downtown, celebrated the strengthening and rebuilding of the downtown community.   Launched in 2011 as a key part of UJA-Federation’s Manhattan Division efforts to engage Downtown residents and ensure a strong and vibrant Jewish presence in Lower Manhattan, the Downtown Division, chaired by Lisa Silverstein, hopes to increase the Jewish presence in their “backyard” through educating participants about the organization’s work at the annual event and through future volunteer opportunities, briefings, and site visits.

This year’s chairs were Marty Burger, Co-CEO of Silverstein Properties; Ben Shaoul, President of Magnum Real Estate Group; Lisa Silverstein, Senior Vice President at Silverstein Properties; and Charlie Walk, former President of Epic Records and Chairman of RJW Collective (Vice Chair).
