House Democrats Sign J-Street Letter Aimed at Dictating Israeli Gov’t Policy

Rep. Stephen Cohen (D), Tennessee’s first Jewish congressman, was one of the primary sponsors of the controversial letter that has provoked the ire of traditional Israel supporters on account of its one-sided approach to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.Supporters Include Seven Jewish Members of Congress

Seven Jewish Democrat members of Congress joined fellow Democrats to sign a letter to the White House to pressure Israel into accepting a two-state-solution even though the Palestinian Authority consistently rejects Israel’s offers of a peaceful solution and instead makes demands that are suicidal for the Jewish state. Meanwhile Hamas calls openly for Israel’s destruction and even issues genocidal threats against Jews in Israel and throughout the Diaspora.

The missive, known as the “Cohen-Yarmuth-Connolly Letter” was issued under the auspices of the George Soros-funded radical J Street organization.
J Street is a tax-exempt organization and many believe it to be a front for the Democratic Party. The seven Jewish legislators who signed on to the letter were:

Reps. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.), John Yarmuth (D-Ky.), Susan Davis (D-Calif.), Bob Filner (D-Calif.), Jared Polis (D-Colo.), Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) and Henry Waxman (D-Calif.).

The letter is the latest in a long series of controversial moves by the radical left-wing J Street, which purports to be pro-Israel but whose actions have been widely regarded among both Americans and Israelis as markedly anti-Israel and profoundly harmful to the survival of the Jewish state. J Street has praised and supported the nefarious Goldstone Report, itself now condemned by its own author, and has given opportunities to strident anti-Israel boycotters to address their meetings. In 2008, J Street disinvited Sarah Palin, a stalwart supporter of the Jewish state, from addressing a rally in New York against Iran’s nuclear weapons development, which is generally understood to be aimed squarely at Israel.

J Street works tirelessly to pressure the United States into forcing a more dovish policy on Israel vis-à-vis the Palestinian Authority even as the PA makes suicidal demands upon Israel and Hamas calls openly for Israel’s total destruction and the extermination of Jews, not only in Israel, but throughout the world.

According to supporters of the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria, J Street and its members are either are blind to the existential threat to the Jewish state from giving away those lands—part of the historic Jewish homeland now known to the world as the West Bank—or are content to see Israel’s demise. To these Zionists, the two-state solution spells yet another Final Solution.
