Left to Right - Michael Dezer, North Miami Mayor Andre Pierre, Gil DezerOver 600 car enthusiasts, collectors, and local luminaries celebrated the Dezer Collection Museum & Pavilion’s official opening recently, where developer Michael Dezer’s private collection valued at over $140 million was unveiled for the first time.

The 250,000-square-foot multi-faceted facility includes a total of nine exhibitions featuring over 1,000 exquisite vehicles and memorabilia.  The museum also features one-of-a-kind concepts such as an indoor drive-in movie theatre, wax figure museum, and a 75,000-square-foot event venue, the Dezer Showplace.  Featuring several ballrooms that can accommodate parties of every size and up to 1,500 guests, the event and entertainment space is poised to become South Florida’s newest venue for hosting exceptional events such as corporate parties, bar/bat mitzvahs, weddings, auctions, high school/family reunions and birthdays.

The event took guests on a road trip down memory lane, where they were escorted by Marilyn Monroe look-a-likes through the museum’s exhibitions which were positioned within lifelike dioramas that depicted the historical period and origin of the automobiles on display. Their route included American classics from all eras, rare European classics, military cars, electric cars, micro-cars, bicycles, classic motorcycles, as well as period memorabilia.

Jaws dropped as guests weaved through the Dezer Collection Museum’s “Hollywood Cars of the Stars” exhibition, which showcases over 80 vehicles that played a leading role in some of Hollywood’s most celebrated films and television shows of all time. The exhibition includes vehicles from blockbuster hits such as the Dukes of Hazzard; The Beverly Hillbillies; Grease; Miami Vice; Ghostbusters; Harry Potter; Chitty Chitty Bang Bang; The Munsters; The Great Race; and Back to the Future; as well as features 11 original vehicles from the Batman movies.

Just as the Dezer Collection Museum traces the evolution of the automobile through history, the evening began with the simple glamour of the pin-up era in its American Classics exhibition and ended with a modern chic vibe in the Dezer Showplace, where flashing spotlights and acrobatic-performing Cirque dancers showcased Hollywood’s most legendary cars.

“It’s been a longtime dream for me to open my collection to the public,” said Michael Dezer, founder of the Dezer Collection Museum.  “The response to the collection has been nothing short of extraordinary. We are not only redefining North Miami as an art and cultural venue, but also distinguishing the museum as South Florida’s premiere one-of-a-kind event space.”

Next up at the Dezer Collection Museum? Slated to open April 1, 2012 is the museum’s James Bond exhibition, which valued at over $15 million represents one of the largest collections of the film franchise’s props and vehicles in the world.  The collection includes a fascinating array of automobiles, motorcycles, submarines, airplanes and boats utilized on-screen by the beloved secret agent 007.

“It is a true pleasure for me to provide tours of the museum to first-time guests and witness their astonishment firsthand,” said Rikki Arad, Executive Vice President of the Dezer Collection Museum. “A testament to the unique product we have, I’m already working with a number of South Florida event planners who wish to host some of the first outstanding events to be held at the museum.”

Located at 2000 NE 146th Street in North Miami, the Dezer Collection Museum is open to the public daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For further information on the Museum call 305-354-7680 or visit www.dezercollection.com.  For all of your event needs, please contact Rikki Arad, Executive Vice President of the Dezer Collection, at 305-934-6070 or [email protected].
