Young Israel Rabbinic Conference to Take Place in Queens Later This Month

The Annual Rabbinic Conference presented by the National Council of Young Israel (NCYI), the Young Israel Council of Rabbis, and the SHALOM Workshop, will take place on Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 20, 2012 at the Young Israel of Hillcrest, which is located at 169-07 Jewel Avenue, in Flushing, NY.  The conference, which is entitled “Serving HaShem B’Simcha” is for rabbis, rebbetzins, chaplains, and non-pulpit rabbanim, and will feature a full complement of informative lectures and dynamic shiurim.

The conference will begin with registration at 9:30 AM.  At 10:00 AM there will be a shiur entitled “Living B’Simcha” followed by a question and answer period.  The shiur, which will be a refreshing, inspirational and uplifting focus on our Torah marriages, will be presented by Rabbi Mordechai Willig, a Rosh Yeshiva at the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary at Yeshiva University and the Mara d’Atra of the Young Israel of Riverdale, and Rachel Pill, LCSW, a therapist in private practice.

Following the morning session there will be a dairy lunch served at 12:00 PM, which will be catered by Ari’s, which is under the supervision of the Vaad Harabonim of Queens.  Mincha will follow lunch at 12:45 PM.

The afternoon session, which will take place from 1:00 – 5:30 PM, will feature a practical and enjoyable workshop that will give Rabbis and Rebbetzins the understanding and tools for enhancing the marital dynamics of their congregants, as well as their own marriage.  The program, which is entitled “Making Good Marriages Great!” will be presented by Rabbi Daniel Schonbuch, MA, the Executive Director of the Shalom Task Force, and Mrs. Esther Friedman, MSW, the Director of the SHALOM Workshop.

Admission to the Annual Rabbinic Conference is $54 per person by February 13th and $72 after February 13th.  Register online at www.youngisrael.org/rabcon2012.  Free babysitting is available by prior request.  Couples are encouraged to attend the conference.
