Israel Voted World’s #2 Tourism Destination by Readers of National Geographic Russia

More than 140,000 readers participated in the survey in which Israel surpassed more than 20 countries around the world, including the United States, France, and China. The National Geographic Russia Awards are an annual competition, featuring three stages voted on by travel agents, tour operators, and readers.
“We are thrilled to see the continued increase in support and arrivals by Russian travelers, which can be viewed as a direct result of the cancellation of the visa requirement,” says Haim Gutin, Israel Commissioner for Tourism, North and South America. “We will continue to increase our efforts to simplify Russian travel to Israel in the months and years to come.”
Approximately 550,000 travelers arrived in Israel in 2010, the second largest population in travel to Israel after the United States.
