Report: Mossad killed Iran nuke expert with 1-ton remote-controlled gun, took 8 months to smuggle in

0

By World Israel News Staff

The top Iranian nuclear weapons expert who was assassinated last November was shot dead by Mossad agents using a one-ton automatic rifle smuggled into the country piece by piece, the Jewish Chronicle reported Wednesday.

The squad that eliminated Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was comprised of more than 20 members from Israel and Iran who smuggled the pieces of the remote-controlled weapon over eight-months, according to intelligence sources who spoke with the British newspaper. The same sources also said that the Iranian government estimates that it will take at least six years to train someone to replace Fakhrizadeh.

Sources in Israel estimated that Fakhrizadeh’s death pushed back Iran’s breakout time to an atomic bomb from three and a half months to two years. According to senior intelligence sources, the delay could reach as long as five years even though after the assassination Iran accelerated the enrichment of uranium needed to make a bomb.

The hit squad assembled the weapon in a Nissan van and activated the gun by remote control while they were watching a moving target. The weapon had a large bomb attached to it, destroying the evidence immediately after the assassination.

“The regime was humiliated and devastated. Even the Mossad was surprised by the huge impact,” a source familiar with the operation said.

“Thank God we got all our people out and they didn’t catch anyone. They didn’t even come close,” the source added. “Their security was not bad at all, but the Mossad was much better. It was a major thing that happened, a dramatic operation.”

The report said international intelligence sources gave Israel sole responsibility for the attack and American officials were only given a “small hint, like checking the water temperature” before the assassination was launched.

However, other sources believe that the U.S. was a partner in the assassination, albeit to a relatively small extent, in order to get then-President Donald Trump to leave a mark. Other sources attributed the success of the operation to Iranian security forces assigning resources to pursue opponents to the regime.

“The Mossad had documents proving that Fakhrizadeh had worked on several nuclear warheads, each one able to cause five Hiroshimas,” Jacob Nagel, former deputy head of the National Security Council, told the Chronicle. “He was serious. He still meant to do what he planned. So someone decided that he had had enough time on earth.”

The description in the paper’s report is consistent with some of the versions provided by the Iranians regarding the assassination. According to Iranian Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alawi, the assassination was carried out by “automatic weapons” and one of its organizers was an Iranian military man.

Alawi claimed earlier this week that the planner’s military expertise prevented intelligence services from uncovering the conspiracy, as they were banned from spying on military personnel and operating in its ranks.

Fahrizada, 59, was killed when he left his holiday home near Tehran, where he was staying with his wife, who was not injured in the incident. Although he was traveling in an armored vehicle, accompanied by security guards, the assassins managed to eliminate him in an ambush at a central junction on the road leading to the Iranian capital.

The assassination led to accusations by senior regime officials in Iran against Israel and threats of retaliation.

Mark Cuban’s Presidential Aspirations ‘Officially Over’ After Ditching Anthem, Says Ex-NFL Player

WARNER TODD HUSTON

Former Minnesota Vikings safety Jack Brewer proclaimed NBA Owner Mark Cuban’s hopes of becoming president “officially over” after Cuban proudly announced that the Mavericks had ended the national anthem.

Brewer, now a Fox News contributor, told the hosts of Fox & Friends that Cuban’s announcement that he, a billionaire, and his millionaire players do not feel like they are part of the United States was the death knell for Cuban’s often stated interest in running for president.

Once the story broke, though, the NBA quickly shot down Cuban’s plan and told him he must play the anthem whether he likes it or not, “in keeping with longstanding league policy.”

Brewer slammed Cuban’s decision to end the playing of the anthem and noted that the American people “do not want to see” the anthem eliminated. He added that Cuban’s actions are “total disrespect” and a “slap in their faces” of the American people.

“I can’t believe that Mark Cuban did this,” a shocked Brewer said.

“You got to remember, the NBA has taken a stand. They have felt the pains of supporting anti-family BLM movements,” Brewer concluded. “They felt the pain of supporting anti-American rhetoric. Their ratings dropped over 40 percent last year from doing that. They have taken a stand to stand for the American flag. God bless them for doing it. And then Mark Cuban goes out and goes against them. His presidential future is over officially from this episode.”

Cuban played with running for president in 2016 when Donald Trump ran against Hillary Clinton. He also mulled the idea in 2020 when Trump ran for re-election. In 2019, Cuban said that “if the circumstances were right” he would throw his hat in the ring for a White House run. And last year he again noted that he is “keeping the door open” for a presidential campaign.

Still, as far as Brewer sees it, Cuban’s proud proclamations opposing the national anthem would likely end anyone’s interest in putting the NBA owner in the White House.

It’s Time to Get Mad, About Teacher’s Union’s

by Michael Watson(Capital Research)

When schools across the nation closed in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, few would have predicted that large swathes of the United States, almost alone among nations in the Western world, would remain closed through 2021. Yet this has happened. We have only begun to see the consequences: an epidemic of youth suicides in Las Vegas, “off the rails” student failure rates in Oregon, and children’s hospitals reporting surges in mental health crises nationwide.

This was not forced upon us by fate or nature. Even as the Continent ordered an unprecedented second incarceration of its residents in late fall 2020, Europe mostly kept schools open.

School closures are a choice that American policymakers made and continue to make. But as the toll on our children becomes clearer, we must ask why.

A Country Held Hostage

There are at least 2.3 billion reasons why schools remain shuttered in most of the country—the $2.3 billion given by government worker unions, most prominently the teachers unions the National Education Association and American Federation of Teachers—to politicians and ballot campaigns over the past three decades.

And how do these malevolent forces on American life justify their insistence that they be given the power to hold American economic and social life hostage to obtain demands explicitly including socialized medicine, massive tax increases, and defunding the police? Just ask the  (CTU), perhaps the most malevolent of these self-interested radical-Left factions. (Recall, a CTU staffer was caught on vacation in Puerto Rico while the union was insisting real school was “unsafe.”)

 ChicagoTeachersUnion @CTULocal1 Jan 23
Six of our rank-and-file dance teachers come together to use their art form as a voice to express their desire to feel safe amidst CPS’ teacher return policy. They stand in solidarity with all educators at risk, because no one should have to choose between life and livelihood.

So take your side: Do you stand with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which released research finding “little evidence that schools have contributed meaningfully to increased community transmission” and with students who are facing an unprecedented mental health crisis, or do you stand with radical socialist interpretive dance?

The Biden administration has all but stated that it sides with the radical socialist interpretive dancers. State governors and municipal officials—with very rare exceptions, among them Govs. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) and Kim Reynolds (R-IA)—have chosen the path of least resistance, handing their swords to the radical dancers without a fight. After all, unions will spend billions to fight against them; parents are too busy chasing their children.

What Can Be Done?

So what can be done? Get mad. Be mad as hell, and don’t take it anymore. Refuse to fear the insane rhetoric—no, Washington State teachers unions, opening schools is not “white supremacy” and it never will be—and tell everyone you know that you’re mad as hell and not going to take it anymore.

The teacher’s unions are counting on parents being too tired, too busy, and too afraid to stand up and say publicly: “I’m mad as hell, and I’m not going to take it anymore.” Until that happens, the radical socialist interpretive dancers will win because no one is opposing them.

NYS Division of Consumer Protection Warns About Online Dating Scams As Valentine’s Day Approaches

This Valentine’s Day, New Yorkers Should Follow Simple Tips When Using Online Dating Platforms

Online “Sweetheart Scams” Are Common Practice & Steal Millions Each Year

In advance of Valentine’s Day, the New York State Division of Consumer Protection today alerted people about online dating scams known as “sweetheart scams,” in which scammers pretend to be dream partners and instead steal personal information and money from victims. According to statistics from the Federal Trade Commission, overall losses in this kind of scam are about $200 million a year.

“During the pandemic, people may be feeling especially lonely due to prolonged periods of isolation, leading people to seek connections online,” said Secretary of State Rossana Rosado. “This Valentine’s Day, I encourage New Yorkers who are looking for an online love connection to follow basic safety tips to avoid losing their hard-earned money through false promises.”

How to Spot a Sweetheart Scam

Although almost any age group can be lured into this scam, the number one target of sweetheart scams is usually men and women over age 40. Seniors, especially widows, widowers and recent divorcees, are particularly vulnerable to this kind of manipulation. However, it’s important to recognize that scammers will target anyone they think they can exploit.

Scammers will go to great lengths to create the illusion of someone you would be attracted to and trust. They often use pictures from the internet for their profile and may disguise their voice on the phone. To build trust with their victims, scammers will want to talk or message several times a day and may even send small gifts to express their deep affection towards to their victims.

A frequent tactic is for scammers to claim to live a long distance from their victim, often an American abroad or a deployed soldier. This allows the scammer to draw out the relationship without having to meet in person. Some scammers may eventually propose an in-person meeting, claiming they will travel to see you, but there will be a last-minute emergency preventing it from happening.

Eventually, the scammers will request a large sum of money, usually as a loan, to be wired to them for things ranging from business investments, property, debts, illness, and more. They may even ask for money for airfare so they can visit you. Once they receive the money, the scammer will often ask for more or create a new reason they need to borrow money. This will continue until the victim becomes suspicious, at which point the scammer will usually stop all contact and disappear.

Here are some tips to protect yourself from online dating scams:

  • Never give or loan money to someone that you have not met in person.
  • Do not give out personal information to someone online, especially if you have not met them before.
  • Use trusted online dating sites, but still exercise caution.
  • Be cautious of people you meet online who say they are an American abroad or a deployed soldier.
  • Schedule a video-chat early in the relationship to ensure they are the person they are presenting in their profile.
  • Do a reverse image search of the person’s profile picture. If it is linked to another name or details that don’t line up, it’s likely a scam.
  • Avoid people online who ask for money, even if it’s due to an emergency or a traumatic life incident. They are almost always scammers.
  • If a consumer has fallen victim to a sweetheart scam, they are encouraged to file a complaint with the Division of Consumer Protection. Consumer complaints can be filed at any time at www.dos.ny.gov/consumerprotection.

The New York State Division of Consumer Protection serves to educate, assist and empower the State’s consumers. United: Small electric air taxis will zip people to airports

0
AP

(AP) — United Airlines said Wednesday it will buy up to 200 small electric air taxis to help customers in urban areas get to the airport.

The airline said it will help electric-aircraft startup Archer develop an aircraft capable of helicopter-style, vertical takeoffs and landings. Archer hopes to deliver its first aircraft in 2024, if it wins certification from the Federal Aviation Administration.

United said once the aircraft are flying, it and partner Mesa Airlines will acquire up to 200 that would be operated by another company.

According to an Archer presentation to investors, the orders are worth $1 billion with an option for $500 million more.

Privately held Archer, which is based in Palo Alto, California, announced separately that it has agreed to merge with Atlas Crest Investment Corp. and form a new publicly traded company. Archer and Atlas put a $3.8 billion value on the deal, which sent Atlas shares up 22%.

Archer’s aircraft are designed to fly under battery power for up to 60 miles (97 kilometers) at speeds of up to 150 mph (240 kph).

The company plans to launch service in congested areas close to airports. United estimated the air taxis could shuttle people from Hollywood to Los Angeles International Airport at about half the carbon emissions per passenger.

Cowen analyst Helane Becker said United could use Archer’s aircraft could operate between New York City and United’s hub operation at Newark Liberty Airport in New Jersey, or from downtown Chicago to O’Hare Airport, allowing airline customers to avoid traffic.

Chicago-based United portrayed the move as part of a broader plan to invest in technology behind cleaner modes of air travel. CEO Scott Kirby said Archer’s design “has the clear potential to change how people commute within major metropolitan cities all over the world.”

Aviation is a small contributor to greenhouse gases that cause climate change, but its share of the problem is growing rapidly. Many airlines including United have made investments in biofuel, but limited supplies are likely to hinder wider use of such alternatives to jet fuel for many years.

In December, United pledged to offset all its carbon emissions by 2050 in part by investing in technology to remove carbon from the air and bury it.

Anti-Trump Hysteria Lives on : Highlights of The 3rd Day of Impeachment Hearings

0
AP

(TJVNEWS.COM) House members continued to present a dramatic second 8 hours of anti-Trump hysteria, as the second impeachment trial of the former president continued for the 3rd day. The language was more dramatic than ever, as the Democratic party, 3 weeks into President Biden’s administration, is still razor-focused on Trump.

If you lose track of time and forget that it’s February of 2021, you might think Trump is still president.

Rep. David Cicilline dug into Trump saying: “Trump chose himself above the people, above our institutions, above our democracy, above all of you.” Cicilline detailing all of the injuries Capitol police officers suffered because of the insurrection Trump “incited.” He asked  Senators to listen to how the “Trump mob” is cursing at and pushing police officers. “So much for backing the blue,” Cicilline says. Cicilline, loving the sound of his own voice declared” Never did any of us imagine that we or our colleagues would face mortal peril by a mob riled up by the president of the United States, the leader of the free world.”

The exploitation of officer  Brian D. Sicknick’s was heavily used to make the case against President Trump, Sicknick died after working at the capitol the day of the January 6th riots. Reports initially indicated that Sidenick died from injuries sustained from being hit with a fire extinguisher. It was later revealed by Sidenick’s family members that he never mentioned being attacked with a fire extinguisher, and sources told ABC News that his death was triggered by medical conditions. The officer did engage in confrontations with the rioters and got pepper-sprayed.

Rep. Ted Lieu: “We’re all aware that a violent mob murdered a police officer. It took President Trump three days before he lowered the flag of the United States of America –– three days.”

Lieu said  Trump doesn’t deserve a “mulligan” because he didn’t make a “mistake.” He says people show “remorse” if they made a “mistake” and Trump never did. Lieu says Trump only showed “defiance” and was telling us that he would do this again. Lieu says Trump still has not said that the election was not stolen, and that is why there are still National Guardsmen outside the Capitol.

Rep. Jamie Raskin gave America an encore of the last 4 years, connecting Trump to racism, and in MSNBC like fashion declared: “But no matter how many people inside and outside government begged him (Trump) to condemn extreme elements promoting violence, and indeed civil war in America and race war in America, he just wouldn’t do it.” The invasion of the capitol had nothing to do with race or a race war obviously, it was based on the election results.

Raskin blatantly lied at one point blaming conservatives for the burning of the St. John’s Episcopal Church on Lafayette Square, which was done by leftist BLM insurrectionists, not Trump supporters.  Raskin deliberately conflated the summer incident where violent BLM activists tried to burn down the historic Church with an incident where an unhinged  Trump supporter burned a BLM banner outside a “progressive” church during the 2nd Pro-Trump rally in DC late last year.  No conservative, Trump supporter, or Proud Boy member burned down a church.

Raskin said Rep. DeGette explained in “chilling detail” how the insurrectionists did what Trump told them to do. He claims Trump “cultivated” extremist insurrectionist groups to ready them for their most “dangerous mission”–to keep Trump in office. Raskin says Trump “road-tested” tactics for January 6. He talked about Trump’s “pattern and practice” of “inciting violence.”

Rep. Diana DeGette: “He invited them with clear instructions for a specific time and place. And with clear orders. Stop the fight… to fight to stop the certification in Congress by any means necessary.”  She recalled her experience on January 6. She said she saw police officers pulling their guns as rioters tried to get on the House floor. She says she saw SWAT teams pointing automatic weapons at “marauders” on the floor as she was being escorted to safety. She says the statements of the insurrectionists make clear that the attack was done for Trump, at his instruction. She said Trump “sent them there.” She says many tagged Trump in tweets after taking photos. She plays a video of the crowd cheering after Trump says “stop the steal.” She says Trump basked after the crowd chanted “fight for Trump.” She says the crowd responded “storm the Capitol” and “invade the Capitol” after Trump told them to “show strength.”

Twitter Locks the Accounts of James O’Keefe and Project Veritas

Social media platform Twitter has locked the accounts of both Project Veritas and James O’Keefe following a recent report relating to Facebook’s VP of Integrity, Guy Rosen. The platform claims the report violates its policy on “posting private information,” and as a result, both O’Keefe’s personal account and the official account of Project Veritas have been locked, preventing them from posting.

Twitter has locked the accounts of Project Veritas and the group’s founder James O’Keefe. The account limiting comes shortly after Project Veritas published an exposé on Facebook’s VP of Integrity, Guy Rosen. The video of Rosen is available on the Project Veritas website.

A tweet from Breaking911 shows the messages that Project Veritas and O’Keefe received when they attempted to access their accounts.

Twitter alleges that Project Veritas and O’Keefe violated the site’s rules relating to the posting of private information. As evidence of this, Twitter quotes tweets relating to Project Veritas’ latest video on Rosen.

Veritas’ latest report relates to Rosen’s comments that Facebook “freezes” comments in places that the site’s algorithm believes “may be” hate speech.

Rosen stated in leaked audio: “We have a system that is able to freeze commenting on threads in cases where our systems are detecting that there may be a thread that has hate speech or violence…these are all things we’ve built over the past three-four years as part of our investments into the integrity space our efforts to protect the election.”

Breitbart News has reached out to Twitter for more information on its decision to lock O’Keefe and Project Veritas out of the platform but has yet to receive a reply.

Bruce Springsteen: DWI Jeep Pauses Ad Campaign After Drunk Driving Charge

DAVID NG

Jeep has officially paused its Bruce Springsteen ad campaign that aired during the Super Bowl following the revelation that the pro-Biden rock singer was arrested for drunk driving in November.

A spokeswoman for Jeep confirmed to CNBC that the entire campaign is on hold.

“It would be inappropriate for us to comment on the details of a matter we have only read about and we cannot substantiate,” a Jeep spokeswoman said in a statement to the cable network. “But it’s also right that we pause our Big Game commercial until the actual facts can be established. Its message of community and unity is as relevant as ever. As is the message that drinking and driving can never be condoned.”

The commercial debuted Sunday during the Super Bowl LV broadcast and has been seen by millions of additional viewers on YouTube. On Wednesday, the commercial was pulled from YouTube and other online platforms after news broke about Springsteen’s arrest.

New Jersey authorities confirmed Wednesday that Springsteen was arrested in November and faces charges including DWI, reckless driving, and consuming alcohol in a closed area.

The arrest took place at the Gateway National Recreation Area in Sandy Hook, New Jersey. Authorities said that Springsteen was cooperative during the arrest.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving has blasted state authorities for failing to reveal the arrest prior to the Super Bowl on Sunday, when tens of millions of football fans saw the high-profile commercial. The advocacy group said that the many victims of drunk driving “deserve better.”

In Jeeps’ two-minute Super Bowl commercial, titled “The Middle,” Springsteen pushes for political unity and reconciliation, urging Americans to come together in the political “middle.”

It represented a change of tune for the singer who repeatedly trashed Donald Trump during last year’s presidential race, saying that he would leave the country if the president were re-elected. The rocker also teamed up with left-wing activist and novelist Don Winslow on a viral video that used the discredited “suckers” and “losers” story from The Atlantic to smear the president.

Jeep hyped the commercial in the days leading up to the Super Bowl, with numerous news outlets promoting the the spot in advance of the broadcast.

Bruce Springsteen performed last month during the 78-year-old Joe Biden’s primetime inaugural celebration, singing “Land of Hope and Dreams.”

How a leading anti-Trump group ignored a crisis in its ranks

0
(AP Photo/Charles Krupa)

(AP) — Last June, the Lincoln Project was on a high.

Led by several prominent former Republican consultants, its slickly produced ads attacking President Donald Trump made it perhaps the best known of the so-called Never Trump organizations. The group tried to claim a higher moral ground in an effort to purge Trump from the GOP. Money flowed in by the tens of millions of dollars from donors eager to help.

But within the organization, a crisis was brewing.

In June 2020, members of the organization’s leadership were informed in writing and in subsequent phone calls of at least 10 specific allegations of harassment against co-founder John Weaver, including two involving Lincoln Project employees, according to multiple people with direct knowledge of the situation. The email and phone calls raise questions about the Lincoln Project’s statement last month that it was “shocked” when accusations surfaced publicly this year. It’s also the first known suggestion that Weaver targeted a Lincoln Project staffer.

Despite the early warning, the group took no action against Weaver and pressed forward with its high-profile work. For the collection of GOP consultants and former officials, being anti-Trump was becoming very good for business. Of the $90 million Lincoln Project has raised, more than $50 million has gone to firms controlled by the group’s leaders.

There is no evidence that the Lincoln Project buried the allegations against Weaver for business reasons. But taken together, the harassment allegations and new revelations about spending practices raise significant questions about the management of one of the highest-profile antagonists of Trump. The revelations threaten the stature of not just the Lincoln Project but the broader coalition of establishment-oriented Republican groups working to excise Trump from the party.

Lincoln Project co-founder Steve Schmidt insisted that he and the rest of the group’s leadership were not aware of any internal allegations of wrongdoing involving Weaver.

“No Lincoln Project employee, intern, or contractors ever made an allegation of inappropriate communication about John Weaver that would have triggered an investigation by HR or by an outside employment counsel,” Schmidt said. “In other words, no human being ever made an allegation about any inappropriate sexualized communications about John Weaver ever.”

Weaver declined to comment for this story, but in a statement released late last month to Axios he generally acknowledged misconduct and apologized.

“To the men I made uncomfortable through my messages that I viewed as consensual mutual conversations at the time: I am truly sorry,” he wrote. “They were inappropriate and it was because of my failings that this discomfort was brought on you.”

The Lincoln Project launched in November 2019 as a super PAC that allowed its leaders to raise and spend unlimited sums of money.

Its founders represent a who’s who of prominent Republican strategists on cable television, including Schmidt and Reed Galen, both former advisers to John McCain; conservative attorney George Conway; former New Hampshire GOP chair Jennifer Horn; Florida-based veteran political ad maker Rick Wilson; and Weaver, who has long advised former Ohio Gov. John Kasich.

Backed by its founders’ commanding social media presence, the organization quickly attracted a massive following of Trump critics in both parties that exceeded even its own founders’ expectations.

Since its creation, the Lincoln Project has raised $90 million. But only about a third of the money, roughly $27 million, directly paid for advertisements that aired on broadcast and cable, or appeared online, during the 2020 campaign, according to an analysis of campaign finance disclosures and data from the ad tracking firm Kantar/CMAG.

That leaves tens of millions of dollars that went toward expenses like production costs, overhead — and exorbitant consulting fees collected by members of the group.

“It raises questions about where the rest of the money ultimately went,” said Brendan Fischer, an attorney with the nonpartisan Campaign Legal Center in Washington. “Generally speaking, you’d expect to see a major super PAC spend a majority or more of their money on advertisements and that’s not what happened here.”

The vast majority of the cash was split among consulting firms controlled by its founders, including about $27 million paid to a small firm controlled by Galen and another $21 million paid to a boutique firm run by former Lincoln Project member Ron Steslow, campaign finance disclosures show.

But in many cases it’s difficult to tell how much members of the group were paid. That’s because the Lincoln Project adopted a strategy, much like the Trump campaign they criticized, to mask how much money they earned.

While several firms did collect payments, Weaver and Wilson are not listed in publicly available records. They were likely paid as subcontractors to those firms, an arrangement that avoids disclosure. Schmidt collected a $1.5 million payment in December but quickly returned it.

“We fully comply with the law,” Schmidt said. “The Lincoln Project will be delighted to open its books for audit immediately after the Trump campaign and all affiliated super PACs do so, explaining the cash flow of the nearly $700 million that flowed through their organizations controlled by Brad Parscale and Jared Kushner.”

The Lincoln Project parted with one co-founder, Horn, last week, claiming in an unusual public statement that she was seeking a $250,000 signing bonus and a $40,000-a-month consulting contract. Horn said that she left following revelations of Weaver’s “grotesque” behavior and divergent views with existing leadership about how to move forward.

Public records reveal that the unexpected success of the Lincoln Project has extended a lifeline to some founders who have spent much of the past decade under financial distress.

Over the past decade, Weaver has repeatedly failed to pay taxes, defaulted on loans and faced lawsuits from creditors seeking to collect. In October, he paid off $313,000 in back taxes owed to the IRS dating back to 2011, records show. A separate case in Texas is still pending over $340,000 back rent his family owes after shuttering a children’s boutique they operated, records show.

Others used the money earned during their time with Lincoln Project to refinance homes, or purchase a new one. Schmidt purchased a $1.4 million “Mountain Modern” custom home in Kamas, Utah, with five bedrooms, seven baths and a “stunning” view of the Uinta Mountains, according to property records and real estate listings. He is currently trying to resell the home for $2.9 million.

But as money flowed into the group, multiple people with direct knowledge said allegations against Weaver were repeatedly raised inside the organization, long before leaders acknowledged them publicly in late January. Those with knowledge insisted on anonymity in order to disclose private communications.

Last June, someone working for the Lincoln Project payroll sent an email to Steslow, one of the organization’s co-founders, detailing numerous cases of sexual harassment involving Weaver that spanned several years. While the AP has not seen the email, its contents were confirmed by four people who had directly seen it.

Schmidt did not confirm the existence of the email, saying only that if one existed, it was not shared with anyone on the organization’s board or leadership.

But multiple people familiar with the situation say that Steslow immediately raised the email with Galen, who helped manage day-to-day operations at the time, and the Lincoln Project’s corporate counsel Matthew Sanderson. Steslow also encouraged his colleagues to remove Weaver from the organization.

Those allegations and others were discussed on subsequent phone calls with organization leaders in June and August, and employees were assured that the alleged incidents would be investigated. Weaver went out on medical leave in August, but as the presidential campaign moved into the summer and fall, there was no formal resolution.

The Washington Blade reported earlier this week details of another set of internal communications over the summer indicating that Lincoln Project leaders were aware of allegations against Weaver and preparing to respond to media reports.

The allegations against Weaver followed a similar pattern in which the 61-year-old married father of two would allegedly send private messages to young gay men on Twitter. They often began with references to work before shifting to things like their personal appearance, workout routines and favorite sexual positions.

At least two Lincoln Project employees were targeted last year, including an intern who was finishing law school, and a communications staffer. There is no allegation of physical contact.

Conway, one of the group’s co-founders, said Thursday that he had not received anything of value for his Lincoln Project work, and he denied knowledge of last summer’s internal discussions.

“No one ever told me of these complaints being made to the Lincoln project, and the first I ever heard that Weaver may have done anything questionable were rumors I heard well after the election, and long after I ceased active involvement with the organization,” Conway wrote on Twitter.

Disney’s ‘The Mandalorian’ Star Gina Carano Fired by Lucasfilm Amid Social Media Controversy

JEROME HUDSON

The hashtag #FireGinaCarano was trending on Twitter earlier Wednesday and just hours later, Lucasfilm did just that. The studio said late Wednesday that Gina Carano is no longer a part of the cast of the popular Disney Plus-Star Wars series The Mandalorian, after Carano shared a social media post that critics said likened the experience of Jews during the Holocaust to the current U.S. political climate.

“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future,” a Lucasfilm spokesperson said in a statement. “Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”

Her talent agency, UTA, has also dropped her as a client, according to a report by The Hollywood Reporter.

Carano fell under heavy criticism after she tweeted, then deleted, “Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors…. even by children.”

The actor’s post continued: “Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?”

Carano, who played the recurring character Cara Dune on the Star Wars spinoff series, didn’t delete the post before it was widely shared online and spurred the #FireGinaCarano hashtag to trend on Twitter.

A former MMA champion, Carano was under constant scrutiny from a social media mob that took issue last August with social media posts in which she described some Black Lives Matter activists as “cowards and thugs.”

The Deadpool and Fast & Furious 6 star received a flood of death threats on Twitter after refusing to list her preferred pronouns in her Twitter bio. The harassment and threats were extensive. But Carano mocked those pressuring her by joking that her pronouns are “boop/bop/beep.”

The calls for her firing from the Disney show escalated in November, after Carano posted a meme showing two men placing face masks over their eyes, with the caption: “BREAKING NEWS: Democratic government leaders now recommends [sic] we all wear blindfolds along with masks so we can’t see what’s really going on.”

According the Reporter, Disney and Lucasfilm scrapped plans to cast Carano as the star of her own Disney Plus series following her November tweets.

Carano has yet to comment on her firing.

Disney has faced fire for months after the studio’s blockbuster film Mulan included in its end credits a special thank you to the Turpan Municipal Bureau of Public Security, which is located in the northwestern Xinjiang region, where a concentration camp for Uyghur Muslims have been detained and forced into labor by the Communist Party propaganda, according to a 2018 investigation by The Wall Street Journal.

Rush Limbaugh’s Staffers Pray for Remission of His Cancer

Conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh, who has not appeared on air since Feb. 2 while battling advanced lung cancer, is missing Wednesday’s program as well, his producer announced on Twitter.

James Golden, who is known by his pseudonym Bo Snerdley, wrote that “Our prayers are with Rush as he continues to fight the illness he has been afflicted with. We are still praying for a remission. Today @KenMatthews will fill in for Rush. Thanks for all of your prayers, kind words and wishes for our Rush. God Bless you.”

Limbaugh, 70, learned he had advanced lung cancer in January last year and was given the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Donald Trump at the State of the Union address a short time later, according to Fox News.

Limbaugh said he was at first shocked by his diagnosis and added it had been as difficult on those who are close to him as it was on him personally.

“I can’t be self-absorbed about it, when that is the tendency when you are told that you’ve got a due date,” he said, Fox reported. “You have an expiration date. A lot of people never get told that, so they don’t face life this way.”

Limbaugh is considered one of the most influential members of the media in the past 50 years and has played an extremely significant role in conservative politics since his program, which is the most listened-to radio show in the country, started in 1988.

Palestinian Authority crushes ancient Jewish site for gravel to pave road

By David Isaac, World Israel News

The Palestinian Authority is using stones from an ancient Jewish site to help build a road connecting an Arab village to the city of Nablus, or Shechem, website N12 reports on Wednesday.

In a video obtained by N12, Arab workers can be heard saying they are destroying part of the site of Joshua’s Altar located on Mount Ebal which forms the northern side of the valley in which Shechem is located, and using it for gravel to make the road.

As the site is located in Area B of Judea and Samaria, Israel’s Civil Administration says it can do nothing about it, the website reports.

The danger to the site has been a cause for concern, N12 notes. Two months ago, Knesset Member Michal Shir of the Likud submitted an urgent question about the preservation of the site against PA depredations. Michael Biton, Minister in the Ministry of Defense, reassured her that the PA’s work had been approved and there was no damage to the archeological site.

Guy Derech, director of “Preserving the Eternal,” an NGO dedicated to safeguarding lands for the Jewish people, said “the site of the altar is one of the most important sites in our country and of special importance to the heritage of the Jewish people.

“Crushing thousands of years of cultural assets into gravel is an extremely unacceptable act,” he said.

“The Palestinian Authority is using its powers to damage archeological sites, and Israel is not lifting a finger at preserving its national and world heritage. We call on the prime minister and ministers of the government to stop burying their heads in the sand and start working before there is no more heritage left here,” he added.

Head of the Samaria Regional Council, Yossi Dagan, demanded the IDF act to stop the destruction immediately.

“This is a direct and unfortunate continuation of the contempt of all concerned regarding the historical sites of the Jewish people and the State of Israel,” Dagan said. “It is shocking to see how the Palestinian Authority is crudely destroying the archeological sites that are dear to all of humanity.”

The Palestinian Authority has a history of destroying Jewish archaeological sites in an effort to erase Jewish ties to the land. It is continuing a “tradition” begun by Jordan, which destroyed Jewish sites when it controlled Judea and Samaria and part of Jerusalem between 1948 and 1967.

Some archaeologists speculate that the site in question, known as Joshua’s Altar, or the Altar of Mount Ebal, is the one mentioned in the Book of Joshua, which he built after the battle of Ai. It is also conjectured that it is the altar the Hebrews were commanded to build in Deuteronomy 27 before they heard the blessing and the curse.

As it’s written in Deuteronomy 27: “Build the altar of the Lord your God with fieldstones and offer burnt offerings on it to the Lord your God.”

There is little dispute that it is an ancient Jewish altar as an examination of the bones at the site revealed that only kosher animals were sacrificed there. The altar dates from the last quarter of the 13th century B.C.E.

Iranian shocker: Downing of Ukrainian airliner may have been deliberate

Canada’s national news service reported Tuesday that the Canadian government has obtained new evidence that appears to indicate Iran’s shooting down of a Ukrainian passenger plane last year may have been deliberate.

Security officials are reviewing an audio recording in which a man who may be Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif talks about the possibility that the shooting down of Ukraine Airlines Flight PS752 by the Iranian military was intentional, CBC News reported.

Iranian forces fired two anti-aircraft missiles at the plane on January 8, 2020, blowing it out of the sky near the capital city Tehran and killing all 176 people aboard, including 63 Canadian citizens and another 75 with ties to Canada.

The incident was considered a national disaster and Canada designated Jan. 8 as a new National Day of Remembrance for Victims of Air Disasters.

The recording appears to be the voice of Zarif speaking in Farsi and CBC used three different translators to ensure the accuracy of the English translation. Zarif is heard saying that there are a “thousand possibilities” to explain the downing of the jet, including a deliberate attack involving two or three “infiltrators” — a scenario he said was “not at all unlikely,” the report said.

However, Zarif also says that in order not to reveal military secrets the government and Iran’s powerful military may never reveal what actually happened.

“There are reasons that they will never be revealed,” Zarif says in the recording. “They won’t tell us, nor anyone else, because if they do it will open some doors into the defense systems of the country that will not be in the interest of the nation to publicly say.”

The government’s special adviser on the Flight PS752 disaster, Ralph Goodale, said the recording “contains sensitive information and commenting publicly on its details could put lives at risk,” the report said, adding Canada’s security agencies were trying to authenticate the audio file.

“We understand in a very acute way the thirst among the families for the complete, plain, unvarnished truth and that’s what we will do our very best to get for them,” Goodale told the CBC.

After denying for three days its military was involved, Iran then admitted it shot down the plane and claimed it was due to human error.

Canada’s former foreign affairs minister, Francois-Philippe Champagne, has said he does not believe the destruction of the plane can be blamed on human error.

Zarif is heard on the recording first saying the incident was an accident, but then suggested it was possible that unspecified “infiltrators” intentionally shot down the plane.

“Even if you assume that it was an organized intentional act, they would never tell us or anyone else,” the person identified as Zarif said. “There would have been two three people who did this. And it’s not at all unlikely. They could have been infiltrators. There are a thousand possibilities. Maybe it was really because of the war and it was the radar.”

The voice, still thought to be Zarif, then says that “these things are not going to be revealed easily” by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) or those higher up in the government and mentioned that Russia never admitted to shooting down a Malaysian airliner over Eastern Ukraine that killed all 298 on board.

The person talking refers several times to Iran paying compensation to the victims’ families to close “the issue” and to prevent other countries from turning the disaster into “an international crime.”

Goodale’s official report on the incident that was released in December said Canada still hadn’t seen “full disclosure… on all relevant evidence” from Iran, which proposed paying $150,000 for each of the victims’ families, but Canada rejected that offer.

A former UN prosecutor at the court of arbitration in The Hague, Payam Akhavan, told the CBC the recording is a “highly significant” piece of new evidence, but that it is not a “smoking gun” offering conclusive proof that the aircraft’s destruction was intentional.

“The fact that he would say in a conversation that it is not at all unlikely that the destruction of 752 could have been organized and intentional is highly significant,” said Akhavan. “The fact that he sees that as a real possibility, I think, should make us pause and really consider whether there’s not something far more diabolical at play.”

Ukraine’s Ambassador to Canada Andriy Shevchenko said it was the first time Ukraine has heard about the recording, telling the CBC: “We do not want to see the truth being hidden behind state secrecy. We want to get to the bottom of this.”

“I think we are still so far away from having a clear picture on what happened… We obviously lack trust in our conversation with Iran. I think we have a feeling that Iran shares as little information as possible,” Shevchenko said.

“I think we should all realize that this report can confirm that the plane was hit by a missile, but it’s not going to tell us who pushed the button,” Shevchenko concluded.

Fans of Kuwaiti Singer Call for Her Arrest After She Announces Plans to Renounce Islam & Conversion to Judaism

Shockwaves were profoundly felt throughout the Arab world on Wednesday when acclaimed Kuwaiti singer and actress Ibtisam Hamid made a public pronouncement of her intention to renounce her Islamic faith and to embrace Judaism through conversion.

Also known by her stage name Basma al-Kuwaiti, the singer and actress posted a video on Twitter in which she said her decision stemmed from the fact that Islam violates women’s rights and does not treat them with dignity, as was reported by Israel HaYom.

She stated:“I, Ibtisam Hamid, nicknamed singer Basma al-Kuwaitiya, announce that I am leaving Islam and proudly announce embracing Judaism.” The video was so widely circulated to the point that she topped Arab Google trending searches lists as well as social media.

According to the albawaba.com web site, fans and followers of al-Kuwaitiya demanded that the singer be arrested and held accountable for her decision to convert to Judaism.

The web site reported that one follower said: ‘So this is a trendy approach for fame nowadays, every now and then someone announces apostasy.’  Another one wrote: ‘We are at the end of time, and this is called apostasy, and she must be stopped’.

Israel HaYom reported that the singer also spoke out against the ruling family of Kuwait, saying “I want to declare my opposition to the Al Sabah family, who reject normalization with Israel, stands against religious freedom in the country and against freedom of speech.”

Ms. Al-Kuwaitiya’s announcement of faith change comes on the heels of yet another high-profile personality in the country who also renounced his Islamic faith. Recently, Kuwaiti host Mohamed al-Munim said that he had converted to Christianity on social media video post that went viral. His decision to change faiths was met with sharp criticism and even death threats from the public.

The albawaba.com web site also reported that subsequent to her announcement, the audience recalled an old interview of her where she stated that art is certainly forbidden, and she wishes for guidance from God, but at the same time she loves singing.

The Kuwaiti singer also had revealed that she had previously been nominated among the top ten in a competition for memorizing the Holy Qur’an, during her high school studies in Kuwait, as was reported by the web site.

Having excoriated her al-Kuwaitiya as a heretic for even contemplating leaving Islam for Judaism, the media in Kuwait continued to broadcast highly critical messages about her decision.

“This is a sad day for Islam, and it is not her fault,” one person commented, according to the Israel HaYom report.

“When one does know true Islam, but judges it based on the behavior of some Muslims, it is easy to reject it and leave it. May Allah help people see the true Islam,” another follower wrote.

Deaths of Elderly Who Recovered From COVID-19, but Died After Vaccine, Raise Questions

Two small clusters of deaths after COVID-19 vaccination have been reported among nursing homes in Kentucky and Arkansas.

In Kentucky, four seniors died the same day of their vaccination on Dec. 30, 2020. Three of the four who passed away reportedly already had had coronavirus prior to getting vaccinated.

In Arkansas, four seniors died at a long term care facility about a week after their vaccination. All tested positive for COVID-19 after vaccination.

The deaths are reported in a federal database called VAERS, the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System.

Deaths after vaccination don’t necessarily mean the vaccine is to blame. Of those receiving coronavirus vaccines, many are elderly and frail, or already suffering from serious illnesses. That makes it difficult to know whether there’s a connection.

Kentucky Nursing Home Deaths

According to VAERS reports, the Kentucky deaths occurred on Dec. 30 after vaccinations with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. An ill 88-year-old woman who was “14 + days post covid” was given the Pfizer-BioNTech shot while she was “unresponsive in [her] room.” She died within an hour and a half (914961-1). An 88-year-old who was “15 days post covid” got the shot, was monitored for 15 minutes afterward, and passed away within 90 minutes (914994-1). A third report says an 88-year-old woman who was “14 + days post covid” vomited four minutes after receiving her shot, became short of breath, and passed away that night (915562-1). And an 85-year-old woman vaccinated at 5 p.m. was “found unresponsive” less than two hours later and died shortly after (915682-1).

In response to questions about the Kentucky cluster, a spokesman for the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) said its experts noted “no pattern … among the [Kentucky] cases that would indicate a concern for the safety of the COVID-19 vaccine.”

Scientists differ on whether people who have had coronavirus, like the Kentucky patients, should receive the COVID-19 vaccination at all. The CDC insists it’s safe for people who have recovered from COVID-19 to get vaccinated and that there’s no minimum interval recommended between infection and vaccination.

“Vaccination should be offered to persons regardless of history of prior symptomatic or asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 [the virus that causes COVID-19] infection,” it states.

But other scientists say vaccinating people who are already considered immune after a natural COVID-19 infection wastes valuable doses of vaccines when there are shortages. And neither Pfizer’s nor Moderna’s studies showed any benefit to vaccinating previously infected patients.

The Kentucky patients were vaccinated shortly after the CDC disseminated false information on this point. The CDC claimed studies showed that vaccines are effective for people who have had COVID-19. The disinformation was given on the agency’s website, in its Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report and in a webinar instruction to medical professionals.

In the webinar, the CDC’s Dr. Sarah Oliver falsely stated, “Data from both clinical trials suggests that people with prior infection are still likely to benefit from vaccination.”

Under pressure from Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), who first flagged the CDC’s incorrect information in December, the agency recently issued a correction but used wording that still falsely implies studies showed that the vaccines helped people previously infected with COVID-19.

Meantime, preliminary results from a study co-authored by a team of more than two dozen researchers noted that people infected with COVID-19 in the past “experience systemic side effects with a significantly higher frequency” after vaccination than others.

The CDC confirms that it’s monitoring reports that people who’ve already had COVID-19 seem to be suffering significantly more frequent or more severe reactions after vaccination, or “reactogenicity,” than those who didn’t have COVID-19.

“CDC is aware of reports of increased reactogenicity (such as fever, chills, and muscle aches) in persons who have had COVID-19,” said a spokesman.

Arkansas Nursing Home Deaths

Four nursing home deaths in Arkansas occurred after vaccination with the Moderna-manufactured vaccine. All four patients tested positive for COVID-19 after vaccination, according to the VAERS reports. But there’s no indication as to whether they had coronavirus at the time of their vaccination or acquired it after their shot.

A 65-year-old man (921547-1) who received the Moderna vaccine on Jan. 2, 2021, died two days later, with the VAERS report noting that he had COVID-19. Three other Arkansas seniors died about a week after receiving the Moderna vaccine on Dec. 22, 2020. The person reporting the death of an 82-year-old man (917117-1) six days after his shot said he was vaccinated in an attempt to “mitigate his risk” and that “this was unsuccessful and [the] patient died.” The VAERS report notes, “After vaccination, patient tested positive for COVID-19.”

Two elderly women, ages 90 (917790-1) and 78 (917793-1), were vaccinated the same day as the 65-year-old man and also tested positive for COVID-19 about a week after their shots and died. According to the unnamed person who reported the 90-year-old’s death, “the vaccine did not have enough time to prevent COVID 19” and “There is no evidence that the vaccination caused patient’s death. It simply didn’t have time to save her life.” The person who reported the 78-year-old’s death claimed she died “as a result of COVID-19 and her underlying health conditions and not as a result of the vaccine.”

In response to questions about the Arkansas cluster, the CDC said, “Surveillance data to date do not indicate excess deaths among elderly patients receiving COVID-19 vaccinations.” Overall, easy the agency, the number of deaths at long term care facilities after COVID-19 vaccinations is no higher than what would be expected to occur naturally.

Frail Patients

Separately, the CDC is monitoring the impact of the vaccines on already-frail patients such as the chronically ill in nursing homes.

In Norway, alarm bells sounded when 23 people died shortly after vaccination. After investigating 13 of the deaths, Norway’s medical agency has concluded side effects that are common with the Pfizer-BioNTech and Modern vaccines, such as fever, nausea, and diarrhea, “may have contributed to fatal outcomes in some of the frail patients.”

“There is a possibility that these common adverse reactions, that are not dangerous in fitter, younger patients and are not unusual with vaccines, may aggravate underlying disease in the elderly,” said Steinar Madsen, medical director of the Norwegian Medicines Agency.

A World Health Organization (WHO) expert panel disagrees. It says the deaths “are in line with the expected, all-cause mortality rates and causes of death in the sub-population of frail, elderly individuals, and the available information does not confirm a contributory role for the vaccine in the reported fatal events.”

But one unanswered question is whether patients who are both frail and have already had COVID-19 might suffer a double-whammy that puts them at greater risk when vaccinated. First, those with a previous COVID-19 infection might be more likely to suffer adverse events upon vaccination, according to scientific reports. Second, their frailty may make them less able to handle the adverse events, as Norway’s medical agency found with some patients.

In the United States, VAERS reports contain numerous other cases of elderly, frail people who’d had COVID-19, got vaccinated, and died.

A 96-year-old Ohio woman tested positive for COVID-19 in November, got the Pfizer vaccine on Dec. 28, 2020, in a rehab facility after a fall, and died that afternoon (915920-1).

A 94-year-old Michigan man at a senior living facility who had COVID-19 and other illnesses received the Moderna vaccine on Jan. 2, 2021, and died of cardiac arrest two days later (918487-1).

A 91-year-old Michigan woman with Alzheimer’s and other illnesses at a senior living facility who had tested positive for COVID-19 received the Moderna vaccine on Dec. 30, 2020. She died four days later (924186-1).

And an 85-year-old California woman with Alzheimer’s and other disorders at a senior living facility received the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine on Jan. 5, 2021, and was found dead the same day. After her vaccination, an earlier COVID-19 test from Jan. 3 returned positive, though she’d had no symptoms (924456-1).

In other cases, elderly, frail patients tested positive for COVID-19 shortly after vaccination.

A 104-year-old woman in New York received the Pfizer vaccine on Dec. 30, 2020. The next day, a COVID-19 test was done and came back positive. She became ill the following day and died on Jan. 4, 2021 (920832-1).

And a 71-year-old New York man received the Moderna vaccine on Dec. 21, 2020, developed a fever and respiratory distress, and tested positive for COVID-19. He was given Remdesivir. He died after 6 days (922977-1).

A WHO vaccine safety subcommittee reviewed reports of deaths among the frail, elderly after the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. The members determined, two weeks ago, there’s no cause for concern. “The benefit-risk balance of [Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine] BNT162b2 remains favorable in the elderly, and does not suggest any revision, at present, to the recommendations around the safety of this vaccine,” said the WHO officials.

Pfizer, Moderna, and CDC Responses

In response to questions for this report, Pfizer issued a statement saying: “We take adverse events that are potentially associated with our COVID-19 vaccine, BNT162b2, very seriously. We closely monitor all such events and collect relevant information to share with global regulatory authorities. Based on ongoing safety reviews performed by Pfizer, BioNTech and health authorities, BNT162b2 retains a positive benefit-risk profile for the prevention of COVID-19 infections.”

Pfizer said that millions of people have been vaccinated and “serious adverse events, including deaths that are unrelated to the vaccine, are unfortunately likely to occur at a similar rate as they would in the general population.”

Pfizer didn’t answer whether it has concluded that any deaths might be linked to vaccination. It also wouldn’t answer whether it has looked at any clusters of deaths, or noted any patterns or areas of concern. And the company wouldn’t say whether it recommends that those recently or currently infected with COVID-19 get vaccinated.

Moderna didn’t answer our questions or request for information and comment.

Currently, the CDC recommends vaccination for people who’ve already had coronavirus.

The agency didn’t directly answer the question of whether it’s safe for people to get vaccinated while they have an active COVID-19 infection. A CDC spokesman said that deferring vaccination is recommended in those instances, but didn’t say whether it was due to a safety issue.

“Vaccination of persons with known current SARS-CoV-2 infection should be deferred until the person has recovered from the acute illness (if the person had symptoms) and criteria have been met for them to discontinue isolation,” says the CDC. “This recommendation applies to persons who develop SARS-CoV-2 infection before receiving any vaccine doses as well as those who develop SARS-CoV-2 infection after the first dose but before receipt of the second dose.”
