The Menacing Threat of Hezbollah Increases

“Our struggle will end only when this entity, Israel, is obliterated. We will combat this abomination and we shall tear out its very roots, which are the United States!” This is an excerpt from the manifesto of Hezbollah, the Iranian (remember this!) backed, Lebanon-based terrorist network with a global reach that has killed more Americans than any other terrorist group except al-Qaida. We at the JV are furious that Iran, the sponsor and supporter of this group of primitives, who killed 241 Beirut based Marines in 1983, still has supporters in our country who fight for it to acquire (and use) nuclear weapons. But Israel is now in their cross-hairs and another war is imminent.

Israel planes recently preemptively struck into Lebanon, hitting Hezbollah and Iranian Quds forces in southern Syria to prevent what Israeli analyst, Yoni Ben Menachem said was to prevent the launching of deadly armed drones at Israeli civilian targets. And from Beirut, Hezbollah Secretary-General Hasan Nasrallah warned Israeli troops on the border that they should “stand on a leg and a half and wait for our response which may take place on and beyond the borders.” If this threat is carried out and if it is not the usual limited strike but a broader one, there is no doubt that this will elicit a very strong response from Israel that will hit Lebanon in its entirety, possibly leading to a large scale regional war.

We must also consider that any attack from Lebanon will initiate another front with Hamas and the Islamic Jihad based in Gaza. All of these varied named groups are committed to following Iran’s commands. Ben Menachem put it quite succinctly, “Israel must be prepared for a military front in the north and simultaneously in the south. The Iranian octopus will activate all its tentacles in an event of a confrontation with Israel, which must be well prepared.” Netanyahu’s response, “I heard Nasrallah’s words. I suggest he relax. He knows very well that the State of Israel knows how to defend itself and how to pay back its enemies.”

In the recent past, when Israel was confronted with threats, attacks and wars with its enemies, our presidents cautioned Israel to minimize its responses to avert Arab civilian casualties. Not now. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said this week that Israel can “certainly count on the United States of America” in the event of a war with Iran. He added, “We flipped the US policy here!” ” With respect to ensuring that Israel is treated fairly at the United Nations, Israel can certainly count on the USA.” And in regard to military aid, Pompeo stated, “We’re constantly in conversations about that, making sure that we collectively have defense systems capabilities that are appropriate for {Israel’s} needs. I have every confidence this president who moved our embassy and who made clear Israel’s rights in the Golan Heights will do all that is necessary to ensure that our great partner in Israel will be protected.”

We pray the enemies of Israel back off, let it live in peace and prosper. but in addition to our prayers, we’re happy that our own country stands shoulder to shoulder with Israel.
