Rep. Ilhan Omar’s, D-Minn., made comments recently that went far enough to get pushback even from her own party. Her most recent comment was about a “push for allegiance to a foreign country” and was bad enough to get a high-ranking Democrat to call her out for the “vile anti-Semitic slur.”

“I welcome debate in Congress based on the merits of policy, but it’s unacceptable and deeply offensive to call into question the loyalty of fellow American citizens because of their political views, including support for the U.S.-Israel relationship,” Foreign Affairs Chairman Eliot Engel (D-N.Y.) said. “We all take the same oath. Worse, Rep. Omar’s comments leveled that charge by invoking a vile anti-Semitic slur.”

Omar, a Minnesota Democrat came into Congress by winning in the midterm elections just a few months ago, and she gets to conduct oversight on the State Department. “Her installment foreshadowed the arrival of an aggressive progressive voice on the committee, but Republicans faulted Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., for handing the plum post to a newly minted lawmaker with a history of controversial comments about Israel,” according to the Washington Examiner.

“Her comments were outrageous and deeply hurtful, and I ask that she retract them, apologize, and commit to making her case on policy issues without resorting to attacks that have no place in the Foreign Affairs Committee or the House of Representatives,” Engel said.

After a campaign to oust Democratic Minnesota congresswoman Ilhan Omar from the House of Representatives signed up thousands of backers across the US, a pro-Israel Evangelical leader has accused Omar of effectively representing the Hamas terrorist organization, A7 reports.

“Ilhan Omar covertly represents Hamas in the U.S. Congress, we need to act now before this blows up in our faces,” Laurie Cardoza-Moore, head of the Franklin said.

Omar generated controversy because of anti-Israel comments critics say echo traditional anti-Semitic canards. Both Republicans and congressional Democrats criticized Omar after she tweeted about how AIPAC buys off politicians, according to A7.
