Nurses and doctors cheered for President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump as they walked through a Pittsburgh hospital on Tuesday, prompting the first couple to shake hands and thank the medical professionals for they were doing to help the patients of Saturday’s synagogue shooting.
The president was also joined by his son-in-law Jared Kushner and daughter Ivanka Trump, both White House advisers, in Pittsburgh to pay their respects to the 11 Jewish Americans who were killed in a mass shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue. As they arrived, a gathering protesters showed up chanting, “President Hate, leave our state!” and “Trump, renounce white nationalism now!” The media often focused on the message of the protesters yelling at Trump and some Jewish leaders who did not want him to visit Pittsburgh, but the hospital visit received little if any coverage.
Daily Caller reporter Benny Johnson amplified a video from Pittsburgh resident Sheryl Mascio, who captured the behind-the-scenes visit at the hospital.
As Trump and his security detail passed by one hallway, a group of hospital workers yelled to thank him for his service, prompting him to walk over and greet them.
“Great job,” Trump said to them.
“Can I shake your hand?” a guy asked.
Trump shook everybody’s hand while they thanked him, and the first lady soon joined in before they continued down the hallway. Another person then yelled, “I love you Ivanka!,” who was standing with Kushner near the hallway. The comment was met with a thumbs up from Kushner.
